Not every dog loves the dog park — and that’s okay! If Arko Dog Park isn’t the right fit, try a private play session in the WHS Sniffspot area. Nestled near our trails, this wide-open space is perfect for dogs who prefer room to run, sniff, and explore on their own. With gratitude to Mountain Fence and Deck for enclosing the space, this area was once the yard for our Diamond Dog program, where dogs practiced their manners while living in a home-like setting on campus. Even better, your dog’s play helps support the lifesaving mission of Watauga Humane Society.

Open Yard and Pup Run in Boone, NC

Our dogs want to share their yard with yours! This is a long fenced yard great for running, playing, frisbee, or just sitting in the sun. Used by our dogs, but they will be put away or at daycare when yours are here. Homeowner will be present when yard is in use, but the yard space will be all yours.

Fun little off the beaten path place to run amok. There are tons of little trails off the main logging road that goes around the property. Bring your person with you if you can. If you aren’t all that good at recall, there’s a fun pasture you can chase your friends in. Lots of space to get all that energy out. Just leave your attitude in the car. Sarah's 2 Acre Partially Fenced Private Dog Park In Jonesborough

The fenced in area does have the capability to be electric, but it remains unplugged unless you ask otherwise! The property line extends all the way to the back of the lot, into a wooded area, and is ordered by trees on the right. You can park anywhere in the front, just don’t block the green Subaru, and walk around the house on the right hand side to enter the gate that way :)

It may not be the same after the storm but it’s still a doggy paradise. *POST HELENE UPDATE 10/13/24* I am so sad to say that the Helene floods have completely destroyed our Sniffspot. We hope to reopen one day but the space will be a completely different place. We are hard at work doing what we can so please check back often. UPDATE 4/11/24* The bugs can get really bad at certain times of year. Mostly gnats around the face and no-see-ums. I do provide bug spray and bug nets that work best when worn with a hat. The worst of the bugs are early spring (April-June). Not fenced but not immediately bordered by anything but forest or field on all sides. The property is 12 acres with mostly open or treed space. There is a small beach area with water calm enough for dogs to swim and fetch sticks. We have picnic tables and chairs that you can use but please pick up after yourself, your dog, and your kids. There is now a trashcan provided on the beach for your convenience. Downstream side of property has an “island” that can be explored. The neighbors property downstream starts shortly free the road narrows between the river and steep bank. It’s usually more overgrown and can visually tell the upkeep is different. Please avoid being on their property. Flood waters make signage difficult to use in this area. Just message me if you need more details on the boundary line.
