Looking for more than just a fenced yard? A private hiking trail through 100 acres of Appalachian forest leading to a secluded river. Explore miles of private woodland trails with your dog as you hike through the mountains of Camp Cruso. This self-guided adventure leads to a beautiful, secluded section of the East Fork of the Pigeon River where you can relax, explore, splash, and enjoy nature together. Along the way you'll experience peaceful forests, mountain scenery, wildlife, and the sounds of a cascading waterfall before reaching the river. This is a hiking experience—not a quick walk—making it perfect for active dogs and adventurous owners looking to spend quality time outdoors. Important: **Leash - Your pup is required to be leashed near all Camp Cruso farm animals, for their safety** **Private - This is a private property, but you may not be the only guest/pup during your visit** **Moderate to Strenuous Hike - This trail includes hills, uneven terrain, roots, rocks, and natural forest conditions - we are not a national park with a manicured trail** **River Use - The destination is a natural flowing mountain river. Water levels and currents vary depending on recent rainfall** **Self Guided - This is not a guided visit**

Howdy! We’re the family behind Camp Cruso, a 100-acre working farm nestled in the mountains along the East Fork of the Pigeon River. We share our land with a mix of animals, trails, open pasture, and river access—and we love giving people (and their dogs) the chance to enjoy it in a peaceful, private setting. Our Sniffspot is best suited for experienced dog owners with well-behaved dogs who have strong recall and low prey drive. This is a natural, unfenced environment and an active farm, so safety, awareness, and respect for the land and animals are essential. We created this space for those who value room to roam, quiet surroundings, and a more authentic outdoor experience—not a crowded or overly structured dog park. We’re also home to our nonprofit, aGRITculture, focused on land stewardship and community connection. Your visit helps support both the farm and our mission. The Wet Spot is a great place to work on paddle training. Our pond is regularly tested for Cyanobacteria (blue green algae).

Welcome to Pondside Paws Park, located in a quiet valley 15 minutes outside of downtown Asheville NC. Here you will find a peaceful, fully fenced in half acre lot with a pond for your pups to swim, romp, sniff, play and have a great time. For those more adventurous dogs, there's even a dock for jumping into the pond! There are opportunities for enjoying the pond regardless of your dog's age or exercise ability, as there is a shallow area with tall grass for wading and splashing, and a deeper area for swimming. The slope of the land is gentle for those older dogs as well- this spot is suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities. For the humans, we have several seating options including a picnic table and 4 chairs under a shade sail. Bug spray, sunscreen, fresh drinking water for the dogs and a tote full of toys is also provided in the weatherproof storage shed next to the seating area. Waste bags are available if needed, although we appreciate people bringing their own, and there is a waste container located at the entrance, next to the kiddie pool that is used to rinse off muddy paws. It's recommended that you bring a towel to dry them off before getting back into your car. We hope you enjoy the spot and leave it as you found it for others to enjoy as well.

Mountain View Puppy Playtime

Our spacious backyard is fully fenced in with 4 gates, two of which are accessible for entry. The main gate is opened by a FOB which can be left outside for easy retrieval. Our dog loves to look at the chickens next door, play fetch, and chew on the many sticks in the yard. A large water bowl can be provided for pet use and drinks can be provided for animal parents upon request. We have hammocks and plenty of shaded area in the yard. We have kids and their toys are out and about, and we welcome families to use them. Your pet won’t get bored exploring this giant play area.
