Description

*fall/winter update* We have mud, please consider bringing a towel for your pup(s). During the month of October we host a pumpkin patch every weekend and must close the Sniffspot for everyone’s safety. If you are a member please contact us if you aren’t available during the week to use your time. Well socialized pups are always welcome at the patch. 🎃 We have various levels of flooding during the winter; the spot has is anticipated to have mud and large puddles. At times we may need to close the spot due to excessive flooding (no dry land!). Please reach out if you have questions about how much water is in the spot. Keep in mind we also have increased migratory waterfowl in the pasture adjacent. We have new neighbors at the west end of the pasture. Please be aware there may be construction during your visit, we apologize for any inconvenience. 1 acre of flat field in a beautiful setting. One large tree in the corner. Fully fenced approx 4.5’ with predator fencing (a very small dog may be able to get out). We have motion lights that come on at night, not super bright but makes the spot visible during early night winters. Boarded by two, large pastures, a private road with limited use and our barn. Occasionally during the wet months flocks of geese/ducks may land in the wetlands adjacent. We have goats and chickens but they are on the other side of the property and should not be seen/heard. We have a dog ‘Veles’ that will be on the other side of the property or in the house. There is a covered bench and trash can in the spot, fresh water is also available. An outdoor bathroom is available for use, see map. When using the bathroom please keep your pup in your car as it is near our goats and free range chickens. We look forward to hosting you and your pup! Please reach out if you have questions. -Jenn & Drew

Hello, myself and my husband, Drew, love dogs. We have previously owned reactive dogs and having the space to run them made a huge difference. We have two rescues; a Pit/Doberman mix, Veles, and just added a new puppy, Flora. We are excited to share the space!

Magical Mossy Forest

Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot is a dog-tested doggy preferred Sniffspot just outside Redmond on the way to Carnation. It is also preferred by people, adults and kids alike because it has water, power, trails, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, porta-potties, 2 swingsets, 3 Arrow Fort, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is full, lots of picturesque moss, and many trails over 5 forested moss covered acres. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall rains kick in. Parking is near the road, separated by 100 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are walking on the trails with you. The parking area can only be located where it is to protect the ecology of Little Ames Creek. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area. Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. There is a map of the main trails in a photo on the Sniffspot site. A log bridge is used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to cross into the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave this natural location the same as you found it. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed to wait in in the parking area. Access to power helps keep your batteries charged. Please carry your own toilet paper - sorry it gets stolen so we can't promise there will be any TP, it is cleaned once a week, Let us know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

Hello and welcome to our Sniffspot! We are new to being a Sniffspot host and we hope you enjoy your time here. It's a large, open one acre pasture with plenty of room to run and play. Tall fir trees, farmland and single family homes surround the property. There are neighbors who walk their dogs or play with their dogs in their yards. There are no shared fence-lines but we are sharing in case your dog might be reactive or sensitive to seeing and hearing other dogs and people. Double gated entrance for security. Park along the fence on the gravel drive. Plenty of room for your pup to enjoy the zoomies! A few things below to note, thank you! *for the toys and water bowls, we have 'clean' and 'dirty/used' containers. Please utilize items from the clean containers and then place in used/dirty so we can thoroughly clean them. Thx! * The terrain of the pasture does have some dips and there is a section of mown grass, as well as a portion of long pasture grass, and sticks from the fir trees. Wearing solid and/or waterproof shoes will help you navigate the land. *September 2023: we have added 4 sets of string lights to our fence and one spotlight on the far power pole (motion sensored). It adds some brightness to the pasture for evening visitors. Note that since it is an acre lot, there is a portion of the pasture that is still quite dark once the sun is fully set. *There are three chickens on a neighboring fence line and the gate to their henhouse yard has a sign (don't let the chickens out, no matter what they say), as well as a secure gate latch plus bungee cord. They will stay on the far side of their yard, and hide under the shrub/tree cover so are usually not be visible from the Sniffspot pasture, but wanted to share in case this is bothersome to some pup guests. Our rooster, as well as neighborhood roosters, are regularly heard. *please note: this pasture was used for a month (June 2023) by our goats & chickens and so the dirt in areas may be infused with the flavor of goat. While we have cleaned much of it, it can still be tasty to some dogs so wanted you to be aware * due to the burn ban, wildland fires and the dryness of our land, we ask for no smoking on the property at this time, thank you
