Location

Description

The top pasture of this small farm is available for dogs to sniff and exercise. Sometimes there will be farm animal smells, horses and goats, and turkeys, rabbits and deer may also visit. There is a nice hill to tire everyone out, and a pretty view of my little farm. I like to stand at the top and throw balls down the hill for my young dog when we don’t have visitors! Feel free to pull in through the double red gates and close them behind you, to leave my neighbors room to drive past. *note, I just got the top part of the pasture graded, so until the grass grows back it may be muddy up there during wet weather.

Cleanliness

100% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

There may be wildlife poop and I occasionally let my horses and goats graze there (not in winter). There are usually some sticks that have blown down from the trees.

    Good spot

Great location. And Oliver enjoyed his time there. The only downer was the mud, which we were warned about. He didn't mind but we had to do a bath afterwards. I think this spot will be awesome in the summer and spring.

Host replied: I’m sorry, I’ve spread straw over the muddy parts, but it’s been a wet winter. I’m installing a hose spigot up there at some point so people can hose their dogs off.

My dogs loved the property sites, sounds, and smells.

We had a great visit. We appreciated the signage to find the spot. They had water, poop bags and trash can. The area was very clean. Thanks!

What a great space! The hills really wore my pup out.

We loved visiting this sniff spot! The fencing was great and it was such a peaceful spot to hang out while our pup explored! Everything was thought of-from toys, to seating, to hand sanitizer! We will be back!

Host replied: So glad you had fun!

Great spot with a hill to wear out the pooch. A little muddy now, but they’ve planted grass so this spring it should be really nice.

Host replied: Sadly, the only way to prevent mud would be to close the sniff spot down for the winter. You’re right though, it’s absolutely beautiful when the grass comes back in the spring!

Our first time at a Sniffspot. Great space, plenty of “sniffs” for our pup. Very secure. Highly recommend

  • Casey L., Dec 19, 2022

Great spot! Easy access, clear directions, and Junebug loved it :)

  • Shay G., Dec 18, 2022

Completely fenced in and plenty of room for the pups to explore. It is on a slight hill, but that. Just tires the pups out more. Will definitely visit again!

Host replied: I love standing at the top and throwing the ball for my young dog, tires her out fast for sure! I’m going to add some more gravel this winter so it’s easier to climb the hill

Meet your host

I am a dog trainer and tiny farm owner, and I understand how important it is for dogs to have time to explore nature and sniff around.

A few Announcements: 1) 2/27- It came to my attention recently that in the back corner of the yard there is a small gap between my fence and the neighbor's fence where a dog could potentially get through. This came to my attention after a recent visitor was there with their dogs and my neighbor came out on their deck with their 2 smaller dogs and my visitor's dogs wanted to go after the neighbor's 2 smaller dogs. That was the 1st time I heard of this gap or anything like that happening, but I did see the gap that they were talking about, where it's possible their dogs could have gotten through if they weren't guarding their dogs from getting through. It will be a few days before I'll be able to address this as far as getting it fixed so in the meantime, this is a warning that there is a potential gap in this part of the fencing. (Bottom left corner.) **Book at your own risk.** I will update this once I've been able to secure this hole. Thank you for your patience. 2) There was a recent visitor who did not clean up after their dog. If I knew who it was, it would show up in my review of them. This is a reminder that you are expected to clean up after your dog. Thank you. Recommendations: I recommend that if you book an evening time, that you come prepared with a good flashlight, especially in the fall/winter when it's getting dark earlier, and check the time of sunset. Even with the lights on, it will be dark in most parts of the yard, and I can't guarantee the lights will be on for every evening visit. The space: A wide open space with rolling hills for your dogs to play, while you enjoy the view. *The sprinkler is actually a garden hose that is a "soaker" hose. It sprays water out of it like a sprinkler. There are plenty of sticks you can throw for the dog to fetch. The location is 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 minutes to Downtown Asheville, and close to the Folk Art Center. The newly renovated Haw Creek library and playground, Creekside Tavern, and High Five Coffee are just down the street. You can also walk to the Haw Creek Farmer's Market from here on Fridays, 3-6 pm. You can walk straight from to the Mountain to Sea trail from here without having to drive, and hike to Lunchbox rock (seen in pictures here.) I included the porch pictures so you could see the sunset. :) There is hand sanitizer, sunblock and bug spray under the stairs, under the side of the bottom step that you are welcome to use.
