Location

Mars Hill, North Carolina

Description

The top pasture of this small farm is available for dogs to sniff and exercise. Sometimes there will be farm animal smells, horses and goats, and turkeys, rabbits and deer may also visit. There is a nice hill to tire everyone out, and a pretty view of my little farm. If you sit at the top and throw balls down the hill your dogs will get very tired! There is a picnic table, a swing, a table and various chairs, a splashing trough, a dog toy box, and a hose. Feel free to pull right in through the double red gates and close them behind you, to leave my neighbors room to drive past. This will also ensure your dogs don't escape when you open the car doors. Parts of this sniff spot can get muddy if the weather has been wet, so throwing your toys into the tall grass at the bottom or on the driveway will help keep the spot less torn up in bad weather.

Cleanliness

99% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

There may be wildlife poop and I occasionally let my horses and goats graze there (not in winter). There are usually some sticks that have blown down from the trees.

Extras

1/2 hour training session$65

Dog won’t come when called? Yells at other dogs? Fearful of strangers or nail trims? Trish is a certified professional dog trainer with a master’s degree in animal behavior, and you can now get a half hour mini training session with her before or after your sniff spot experience!

Farm Tour$25

Always been curious about the farm animals you see from afar? Meet Trish and the overly friendly dogs, cats, horses, goats and chickens she shares her life with! If there’s an extra egg in the coop or tomato on the vine in season, you may go home with an edible souvenir! Approximately 15 minutes - sorry, your dog must stay supervised in the sniff spot or in the car, weather permitting. We’ve recently lost a chicken to a friend’s dog.

I am a dog trainer and tiny farm owner, and I understand how important it is for dogs to have time to explore nature and sniff around.
