Description

22 forested acres with private trails and an open field area located in the power line clearing. Includes private land access to state forest trails with views. Once you park you will see the trail entrance into the forest in front of you. Take the trail down to the creek. Water levels in the creek vary depending on the time of year. Cross the creek using the foot bridge and head through the forest. In about .3 miles you will come out into the powering clearing. Feel free to explore everything in front of you and to the left (north). There are several wide open grass spaces in the power line to play fetch or just let the dogs run and be dogs. If you follow the power line trail to the left, then follow it up the hill to the forest on the other side, there is another trail that enters the forest. This is all state forest and not easily accessible to the public. This trail will lead you to the top of the mountain on your right. Hiking this round trip will take about 2 hours. Approx 5 miles and 900 feet elevation gain. If interesting in doing this hike please ask me for details.

Cleanliness

100% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Hiking shoes are recommended, there are some steep hills that are muddy during the wet time of year. You can occasionally see wild animals so please keep dogs from chasing the animals for safety. The first 100 yards of the trail follow the road. Please keep your dogs leashed until you get past that area unless you have perfect recall.

We had a lovely time. The hike is great exercise for both dogs and humans! The parking is very accessible, which is also nice.

Dogs had so much fun. Pretty muddy so bring good shoes:)

  • Nina H., Feb 20, 2024

Great spot as always! It’s basically a private hike and allows for both dogs and humans to get some good exercise!

  • Shelly S., Feb 19, 2024

We had so much fun at this spot! As others have noted, there are muddy spots on sections of the trail, so good hiking shoes are recommended. Brad was communicative and offered guidance on how to access different trail routes. We used the whole 2 hours, and we’ll definitely be back!

  • Kaitlyn M., Feb 18, 2024

2nd time visiting this lovely spot, my dog has a great time in the creek and running on the well-maintained trails. Hiking boots/waterproof boots are helpful this time of year

  • Emily H., Feb 16, 2024

Super fun trail! Places to play ball. Terrific!!

  • Franziska T., Feb 15, 2024

Amazing spot! My dogs loved it! Even my little guy who hates being cold and wet! That being said be prepared for deeper mud on rainy or post rainy days but if you don’t mind those things like me you and your dogs will have a blast!

  • Delaney B., Feb 14, 2024

Had a great time exploring this spot with my pups! Definitely booking more than 1 hour next time!

  • Stephanie B., Feb 9, 2024

Beautiful hike through wooded areas paired with open larger roads and gorgeous views. There was access to streams that the pups played in as well. The host was communicative and directions were easy to follow. Pups had an absolute blast. Tough to get pics as they ran through the area playing heartily.

Hike up the mini forest

Our property is shy of 12 acres, 9+ acres of which we're sharing as a private off leash dog space or Sniffspot. The entrance is over the bridge where the creek is and 'From Creek to Back of Property' is all yours to explore. You may unleash your doggies right after the bridge and chain the gate if you want. Dogs might run down the creek for a splash or drink. Continue on to our family campground, there are picnic tables you could use, enjoy a picnic with your loved ones if you're up for it. Then, up the hill you go to 'hike up the mini forest', free to roam around, listen to the birds, squirrels and other critters and sounds that nature brings you. You'll find seating areas while your dogs are at play, feel free to use them. The back of property behind fence is DNR land, so rest assured you’re on your own private little world with your furry buddies. The mini forest has some large walking paths and smaller trails scattered about, also some open meadows and is at a peaceful wooded setting. This is where I go to unwind and relieve my head of stress and worries. It’s my place of meditation, while my dogs sniff and romp around like crazy, do their zoomies and play hide n seek! *If you want to save a little bit of moolah, I offer membership. Forget about the gym, you'll get your exercise here with your dogs. If you are a member of my sniffspot, or have older dog/s and would like to drive below or up the hill to park so the fur buddy don't get exhausted, message me.* Some of you have asked about the cabins. Sniffspot is unavailable if Cabins are booked or vice versa. Booking is through Hipcamp (www.hipcamp.com). Name of listing: 'Grace E.'s Mini Forest Cabins'. Check it out by copying and pasting link below to browser or search listing through the hipcamp site. https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/washington-grace-e-s-mini-forest-ex9hrrp8?shareid=1ddvuyvr3yh Anyway, hope you too will enjoy your little hike up our mini forest..

Our property is located off the Burn Road in Arlington and is 5 acres, 1 of which is fully fenced and there are about 3+ acres of woods that have a trails throughout that we are constantly trying to add onto. Access to the backyard will be through the double gates on the south side of the house. Access to the trails can be either gate along the back fence. We just ask that you close whichever gate you use upon entrance and exit. The trails currently are just shy of 1/4 of mile looping back to the gates of the fenced in backyard. We do have a seasonal pond in the woods that we plan on trying to expand access too (it’s a work in progress). The fence is 3.5 feet high split rail with chain link very secure, the back portion of fencing is strictly chain link same height but acts as a natural looking wild fence. Dogs can play ball, sniff around, and run off lease in the fenced yard. Dogs with good recall can be off leash on the trails and run throughout. We do have neighbors where our woods end that are mostly fenced but some do not have fencing (which is why recall is needed). There is no delineation between the neighbor to the north’s huge pasture area which would be off limits. Please enjoy yourself and let us know if you have any ideas to add to the property. The pictures were taken during the winter months, the property and trails are so much prettier during the spring through fall months. Thank you for stopping by.k
