Nice spot for those with dogs with good recall. Only downside was that there was a lot of goose poop covering the entire grounds.
Always a joyous place to visit for my pup. Thanks so much for hosting.
Really beautiful grounds for dogs who are good off leash/unfenced
Very cute spot, we very much enjoyed it!
Great property to explore!!
Great land for our dogs to enjoy!!
Rico & and his two k9 cousins got a blast running through the land and playing with toys, plus there are apple trees with very tasty fruit and since Rico loves apples, he was very delighted.
Thank you Jessica for sharing your big space, really appreciated!.
Nice location with some shady areas. Beautiful fruit trees to look at. Fun if your dogs like to play fetch, big and open area to run.
Another great visit. Thank you!
Spot was easy to find and larger than expected! The owner was very responsive! There was toys and bags available to use, easy parking and lots of space to explore!
Great large grassy area for pups to sniff around. Seeing the chickens was a delight. Would visit again.
Awesome location for any pup :)
Great spot with lots of sniffing options! We will be back.
So beautiful! We had a lovely time!
Beautiful morning for some play time!
Great host! Very welcoming and fun spot
My pup had a great time. She loved saying hello to the roosters. I wish I would have been warned about the tall grass and weeds. I would have dressed more appropriately. I would recommend wearing long pants maybe even some boots if it had rained recently. The tall grass and weeds were over my pup’s head and in some places up to my knees. Other than that we loved it.
My baby loved running through the tall grass. Great place!
We had a great time! It’s quiet, lots of sniffing and easy to find.
This place is great! Definitely make sure your dog has recall but if your dog is good with boundaries and has recall (or is treat motivated) you’ll love this place!! My dogs especially love the tall grass and the chickens
Beautiful, large property with plenty of shade on a hot day. Will definitely be back!
OMG I have the world’s happiest dog now! This is a wonderful location with tons of things to hold a dog’s attention, engage the brain, and let him run around unleashed.
This was my first time using Sniffspot. The owner was very communicative and it was just such a great overall experience. My dog was so happy and so exhausted after. Partially fenced but the fencing that is there was plenty for my dog who has good recall.
Best money I’ve spent and definitely will be back!
Really liked the big open field so I can throw the ball and run my dog until he had enough. Will be back again :)
Great place to play fetch with our dog. He also loved the couple muddy and swampy areas. Location and parking was well marked and east to find.
We had a great time! Everything was as described. Our dog has good recall, so the partial fencing wasn’t an issue for us at all. The host was wonderful to work with. We’ll definitely be back!
It was great! Very spacious for zoomies, easy access to the location. Poop trash and provided poop bags near the silo!
Big space for my dog to play
Our boys had a great time. My only issue I had was our boys got a little too comfortable too fast and decided to run to the street. Thankfully they have a decent recall and came back immediately. The area was HUGE, we stayed neared the chicken coop and didn’t venture to the other side. Overall great time!!
We had an amazing time here! The host was beyond gracious with all my questions and let us extend our time! Only thing i will point out is that the large grassy area does have a few holes and divots in the ground so just use some caution. We loved it here and can’t wait to come back!
Sooo quiet and peaceful. Lots of grassy space for the doggos to run. And some super cute chickens for them to scope out. Will definitely be back!
When I arrived I had to double check the posting because I thought there was no way we were allowed access to the whole property, it was just so beautiful! My dog loved watching the chickens, exploring in the mud, and getting all her zoomies out in the big open field.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous property with us, we will definitely be returning! :)
Best SniffSpot experience to date! The owner reached out to let us know that kids could use the trampoline and they had a blast! This place is fun for dogs and kids. Looking forward to many return visits!
Another wonderful visit. Lots of room for the dogs to run and play. Slept like rocks on the way home. Highly recommended.
Loved this location. Plenty of room for the pups to explore and run. Very clean. My two loved checking on the chickens, something they have never seen before.
This was our first sniff spot experience and our boys had SO much fun. The amount of space for them to run and play was perfect. It’s not entirely fenced as the listing states but it wasn’t even an issue at all. Thanks so much!
A beautiful property and the hounds loved it. Will definitely be back.
Very beautiful space, and easy to get to. Friendly and calm chickens despite my curious pup yappin😜
I was a little concerned how close the street is with no real security but once we were in my dogs had no desire to stray that way. You definitely don't want to bring a dog who' come command is not solid.
Great spot for playing fetch and splashing around in puddles! Everything was exactly as described.
My top sniffspot by far. Really such a beautiful property— my dog had a blast running around and also saying hi to the chickens. Will definitely be back!
Another fun experience today! Thank you for sharing this beautiful place. My Aussie LOVES it! ❤️
This spot was great, big open field to play ball in. Our dogs had a great time and slept the whole ride home.
Was a nice big lot, my dog loved running through the marshy areas and there were lots of flat areas for him to play with his friend. Chickens were securely fenced and seemed to be comfortable with dogs, they didn't run around their run or make a lot of noise so the dogs were interested but not obsessed with them. It was a bit difficult at first to tell which areas were available and you definitely want a good recall since its not entirely fenced.
Great spot! I appreciated the directions that were given that made it very easy to find and then that there were signs marking it as a sniff spot which told us where to park. Toys were laid out, and the property was great. Our dogs had a blast running around!
Be aware with rain it was obviously a bit muddy, and a little swampy further back in some areas. We wore boots and our dogs loved the swampiness so worked well for us!
Great spot for our pups! One thing to note for future visits is that there are bushes with sticker weeds near the fence that one of our dogs got into that got all over our golden doodle. We had to spend quite a bit of time pulling them out of his fur.
It's very wet right now, but it's just what the dogs asked for. Excellent mirror effect from the water for fun pictures and splashing!
Great spot!!! Toys and poop bags were available, and the area was great for my dog to explore. Can’t recommend this spot enough!
I can’t recommend Jessica and Ham Lake enough. My boy had an absolute blast like always. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Benson & Phoenix loved exploring in the tall grasses! Beautiful Sniff spot.
Such a pretty spot
Great spot to run around! wasn’t too soggy despite recent rain. I wish I had read the description more clearly - there are definitely about 12 chickens in a secure enclosure that were a big distraction for my terrier/heeler mix, but we got along ok - the property is big enough to keep them far apart. Thanks for having us!
The dogs had a blast at this sniffspot! They definitely got really muddy but we expected that! Also quite a bit of goose poop in certain areas but it can be avoided. Definitely keep your dog on a long line if they don’t have good recall because although it’s about 75yards away there is an open gate to the road.
This is a large field with lots for dogs to explore. My dog was on his long lead because the unfenced area is near a busy road and was larger than I expected. (50 feet?). But if your dog has great recall this is a wonderful and tidy place replete with toys (a deflated soccer ball for example) for an outing.
Love this spot!
This was a good spot to get used to using a long line. Part of the property is marshy, so bring your tall waterproof boots. Fun if your doggo likes water!
Arko and I had a blast like always. This place has become the favorite spot to get down and dirty safely.
Listing says there are chairs available, but there is only one metal chair with water pooling on it. No other places we could find to sit. Signage was a bit unclear where we could go, though the listing says “entire property.” No treats or toys available that we could find, trash and torn landscaping tarp littered the ground. Expect uneven ground (mentioned in listing) and molehills. Nice and quiet. Lots of parking space and beautiful views. One dog jumped into the brush and came back with stickers we had to pick off, but that’s expected with farmland/consistent with the spot description. Hose was tricky to find and operate. I’m assuming the plastic tub was meant for drinking water, but it was full of debris. An outdoor sink was near the sniffspot sign and parking, but it wasn’t connected to the waterline. Still better than a dog park!
this place and jessica are the absolute best!!! my dogs favorite place
My dogs love this spot! The big puddles from the rain and the tall grass keeps them busy. When I first went I was unsure how far I could roam. We’ve been twice and will be coming back!
A delightful spot that we have been visiting weekly to work on our pup’s reactivity with another dog from our BAT Class. The space is tremendous! I couldn’t believe how huge it is. It is so serene and peaceful that I want to move there. Haha! They do have chickens visible that are better behaved than my dogs. Their chickens were out today, and were so good to leave the space for us and moved to another spot. Fortunately, my dog was more interested in his ball and not really curious about them either. The space does get pretty wet when it rains, as it is partially on marshlands, so wear appropriate footwear. Look forward to coming back again and again.
So. Much. Fun. One of our favorite local spots! ❤
Beautiful property! A great place for our pup to explore. Exactly as described. Loved the open spaces, perfect for frisbee:)
Great spot! The dogs had so much fun in all the different sections of the yard. We did have a close call with the unfenced section at the entrance (our fault), but overall great experience.
Great place to bring reactive pups - no dogs could be seen or heard. Lots of space to run and roam. We love this spot!
An absolutely beautiful location and our dogs had a good time. We did keep them on leash because while the area is mostly fenced, the less fenced area is against a busy highway. Truly the only thing to be considered by future users is if you have a pair of turd eating ding dongs, you may find they spend their time greedily gobbling goose poops rather than running around.
I thought my dogs could handle the no fences , but they failed …this place is good if your dogs are good
Today was our first time here and the girls had a really fun time. Lots of exploring and chasing. I was a bit concerned about the easy access to the road at the entry, and how they would react to chickens. But their recall was reliable and they were surprisingly uninterested in the chickens. We'll be adding this spot to our list of favorites.
This was my first time using Sniffspot. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised that there were Sniffspot signs showing me where to turn and where to park.
I was going to give 4 stars instead of the 5 I rated because there was a lot of goose poop. My dog’s BFF came with us and she had a problem not eating it. But then I realize that this is Washington and it is “geese” season. With such a wide open area it’s only to be expected. Regardless, the doggos had a blast. They ran and chased each other and played with a ball like two little kids!
It was pretty warm so we only stayed about an hour. Thank you for hosting our dogs. I got some great pics!!!
This place was so much fun! Our Aussie, Bear, loved playing in the sprinkler and it was a great way to help him cool off after playing fetch in the heat. There were several chickens that were kept in a secured coop. Bear found them VERY entertaining and kept coming back to check on them during our visit. We will definitely be back!
My dog and I loved all of the space and the varied terrain to explore. My reactive pup freaked out at the chickens though, so just something to keep in mind.
Short grass, and plenty of space to run. Thank you!
Well maintained property with open space for the dog to run freely. The ham lake that was a little hidden gem and a great place for the dog to cool down and get dirty! Thank you!
This was our first experience at a Sniffspot and our dogs really enjoyed running and roaming on the property. It was nice to be able to introduce our dog to chickens where they were safe in a coop. Definitely would have purchased some fresh eggs. :) We will return for sure, loved that it was fairly close to home. Thanks so much.
Great spot! Lots of nice sniffs (including chickens)!
This location continues to be the perfect Sniffspot! We loved viewing the chickens this afternoon with our two dogs as they met each other for the first time. The open spaces are perfect for long distance ball chasing, and the wetland areas are a hit with the muddy dogs. We couldn't be happier :)
Awesome, we had so much fun. Macs is going to be a regular to your farm. It was safe and we loved that he could run without other dogs right now. Your land is really lovely. We especially loved the geese. I think they were geese?
Lisa and Dan
great spot.. I wasnt sure of the sniffspot boundaries.. but I didnt see anyone around to object if we had stepped outside the spot..
Lots of space for running around!
We had a lovely, peaceful visit. Thanks!
Nice spot! We enjoyed our stay!
Absolutely love this place. So much stuff for my boy to explore. He loves the large plot to run and the marshy area to sniff and splash. Lovely visit as always. Highly recommend.
A lot of space to run around.
Easy-to-follow directions, fantastic signage! There's a chicken coop, but it's completely fenced in and the chickens don't seem to be fazed by curious dogs. Heads-up if you have dogs who like to roll in stinky stuff: geese visit this SniffSpot so there is a bit of poo scattered around. We also saw bee boxes, but didn't see any bees.
Great spot. Big field to run around and romp. If you have a dog that don’t do well with recall be aware of car distractions nearby but I would use this as an opportunity to teach recall. There’s also farm chicken. For dogs not use to seeing other animals they may have reaction. Otherwise, my dogs had a blast.
It was a lovely space, however the lack of full fencing and open spaced fencing limited our activity. We had fun and made the best of it anyways with all the farm structure and open field visit. It is great if you have a dog that obeys demands and comes when called. Mine does not once off leash, she is a hunter. :) It was a lovely space otherwise
This was my second time coming first time booking myself. The locations is absolutely amazing!!! My boy had a blast and so did I. Definitely coming back and highly recommend. Lots of open space to run, sniff and explore.
Our dog had a lovely visit to your property. She sure was tuckered after all that sniffing, running & meeting chickens. We also used a long leash to have a bit more control of our overly excited dog. Thank you
Nice open area, lots of plants to sniff in the orchard, not as muddy as I thought it would be.
I've been here a half-dozen times now and is one of my favorite places to go.
Awesome spot and great host!
Remember to wear mud friendly shoes in our rainy months - basically anything outside summer haha 😊 will def visit again if we can.
This place was great! My dog her first exposure to chicken and got to wade in water. We did keep her on a long lead because her recall is not reliable. It was muddy, but Jessica warned us of that and we didn’t mind. Our dog was tuckered out after our visit. Would love to come back again.
Our most favorite spot in the world!
Well, this is an amazing spot with LOTS to interest most dogs! Bring waterproof shoes or waders! That being said, there are some caveats to consider. I'd break the property down into thirds. One third is a marsh with tall grass and is fenced in. The dogs probably spent most of their time here exploring/sniffing. The back half of this third goes up against the road and the fence along the road is secure.
The middle third is where the chickens are kept and includes the barn and part of the swampy pond. You're able to close the pasture gate for some structure but it's fairly easy for most dogs to slip under the fence around the gate.
The other third includes the houses (which are beautiful!) and the pond. There's sort of a natural barrier created by bushes/blackberries against the road. And the house are fairly set back so you're not going to be right in their personal space.
The biggest caveat is you are right off a medium traffic road with cars traveling at speed. I'd say if your dog isn't medium good on their recall, I'd opt for a long leash line. It did make me nervous and I tried to keep my dogs over in the mostly fenced third. Other ones worth mentioning: lots of geese (my dogs loved this though! Honks! Wing flaps! Things to chase!), there were gunshots (maybe related to geese but if you have noise sensitive dogs it's worth noting), but we didn't see a single dog or really any people. This is a great spot and I appreciate that we were allowed to use it. :)
Open field that backs up to a wetland. When we went the wetland had expanded to the grass. In the summer would be great for dogs who love water.
We were unfortunately unable to make our scheduled time, but will try this sniffspot another day because of how clear and complete the communications were. I appreciate not having to worry about feeling unsure when it comes to rules and directions. Thank you!!
This sniff spot has it all! Large grassy field, swampy grass and tons of fun sniffs. Our pups got their fill of fetch and romping very quickly. We used this outing as a safe opportunity to meet up with a friend and his pup, and were pleased to find abundant parking.
Only caution is an abundance of droppings (geese, we think), which made for some gross snacking.
We had a grand time at this Sniffspot location! The gate was open and a sign clearly indicated to us where to park and where to enter onto the property. There is a toy box available at the parking location in case you've forgotten to bring a toy. The yard is large and mowed, providing plenty of space for full-length Chuckit throws and frisbee tossing! Tall grass and a wetland allowed our dog to enjoy a cool place to slosh around in and get perfectly soggy and smelly, just like he likes it! A professional setup and as easy as it can be. A quick wave to the host from a distance as she quickly walked by on the property to relocate a chicken was all the interaction we had with anyone. A totally private experience. We highly recommend it! A++
Our most favorite place EVER! We love going here. And Jessica is amazing.
Large yard and they even had some toys available which came in handy, since we had had a scattered morning and forgotten our own. Rain and water build up in a few places that I think prevented us from fully exploring, but that's just winter.
Great location. Lots of room to run. Dogs had a blast!
Awesome space with a country feel!
This is a beautiful spot well maintained.
As previous, our trip was excellent! Beautiful property.
This was amazing! The property is beautiful and obviously very well cared for. I have one dog with questionable recall so kept her on a long line just due to the small open area by the gate but honestly the yard has nice natural separation and the slope kept my dogs down in the yard area without having to call them back much at all. I was so impressed with this area, we will definitely be back!
Great spot for my dog to roam. Turtle the dog especially liked the chickens. As a 6 month old puppy he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. You’re property was beautiful, open and well maintained. Thank you.
Really nice Sniffspot - convenient location, easy access and has some interesting features for doggos to sniff out. Instructions on the website were excellent and we easily found the parking area and knew where to go. I was afraid my dog would go crazy when seeing the chickens but they were cooped and very mellow. As a result, my dog was surprisingly restrained around them. We thoroughly explored the property including the silo area, the large flat grassy areas, and some wooded, swampy areas towards the lake. We almost made it to the lake but my boots were old and leaky and I couldn’t go any further in the boggy area without getting my feet soaked. The large grassy areas are a perfect spot for exercising dogs who like to fetch. Unfortunately, my dog is not one of those and we had fully explored the property in about 40 minutes at which point my dog wanted to explore things more closely to the road. As other reviews have indicated, it is important for your dog to have a good recall since the entry to this property is unfenced. Overall, we had a great time and recommend this Sniffspot to others. We plan on returning too!
It's a beautiful, easy to find place. Easy parking and wide open space. Wished we could have walked to the lake area but the grass /foliage is mature and ciuldnt get there. The barn and silp are gorgeous. My dogs loved it and loves sniffing out the very calm and friendly chickens on site in their coop. Thank you Ham Lake.
The dogs had a lot of fun running around the retreat and meeting the chickens.
Jessica’s place was great! Parking was very clear, a lot of open area and even some woods for dogs to explore.
We had a 1 year old German Shepherd aleeping over this weekend and took him to Ham Lake to burn some energy. He and my dog bounced around in the tall grass and chased one another all over the property. We had a great time!
So much room to run! Went on a perfect sunny day with my dog Quincy and he had fun running around and sniffing all the things. Instructions are great and it was easy to find. Keep an eye out for the sniff spot signs showing you where to park and enter. There is a box of toys provided and some shady spots where we set up our lawn chairs and stuff while we were there. Had a lot of fun and we will definitely be back. Thanks again!
My dog and her friend had an excellent time playing here. We were unsure how she they would react to the chickens and we also saw geese and gosslings on the property but the dogs did great.
The only downsides I saw were that the bee hives were too easily accessible tonthe dogs, and my dog likes to try and eat what I call jalapeno flies, qlso that I couldn't find somewhere to throw out dog poop so I took it home with me.
So fantastic. Our boy just ran and ran.
Had a lovely time here! Lots of open space to play ball and we appreciated the shade of the willow tree on a hot day. Took me a minute to find the hose, but appreciated having water available too! There were a few kids' toys scattered around so be careful if your pup might like to pick these up. The only major thing I would caution is be sure you have a pretty good recall as there is a section right along the road which isn't fenced and while the road isn't overly busy traffic moves fast. Our pups enjoyed getting a look at the chickens and rolling in the lush grass!
This space is wonderful for dogs with great recall to run around (if you have a fetching dog, I highly recommend). It is a little confusing how far up the driveway to pull in and where to park. The host seemed happy where I chose, just alongside the basketball court. There seem to be two areas, one maintained and one with long grass. One thing-- you will pass the chicken's coop on your way to the maintained field (it was adorable, all the chickens ran to the side we were walking by). Though they were fully enclosed, a dog with high drive may not do well here. Lani enjoyed the large area to run, chase the birds, and roll. the space is not completely fenced but she did not try to cross any barriers. The large tree provides nice shade to relax on a hot day. Overall, it's a great space and I recommend.
Nice open lawn area for dogs to play and run. Easy to find and easy to park. Chuck its provided at the parking area in case you forgot yours. There were signs directing to the field with a big willow, which I recognized from the photos on line, but it was a little unclear where the boundaries of the sniff spot were, as there are two homes on the property and an area of yard next to one of the homes. Fencing is partial, with potential for a dog to run back up the driveway to the road, so a decent recall is needed. Our dogs discovered a wet and swampy area just off of the open yard that they thought was great. And they enjoyed running through the adjacent tall grass. Great for fetching, running, practicing recalls, etc. There are chickens, fenced in, near the entrance. Dogs were barking from inside one of the homes and a couple of cars came and went to the homes, but no people or dogs in sight.
The puppies loved it! Lots of open space to run and explore. The hosts were gracious and understanding of the reactive dog we brought
It was finally sunny and the yard gets good sun and was warm. The grass was pretty wet on the bottom half My dog barked at the chickens but quieted down when told to. There are spots where a dog could get out of the yard if it wanted to but the yard was big and my dog didnt notice them until we were loading into the car.
This is a large, open space for your dog to run around. From a white picket fence to a big weeping willow tree to the silo, there are so many places for your dog to run and play. The biggest problem for you and your dog is that he may get too tired from running laps around the field. Make sure to bring water for breaks, as well as a tennis ball or another toy for fetch. Your dog will be in doggy heaven with this much space for running and playing. (Note: the fields were fresh cut grass, which our dogs enjoyed rolling in when they were getting hot, and the tree provided a nice place for rest when the dogs began to overheat).
We had quite a splashy frolic today as the rain was non stop. Dottie was quite excited (Reactionary) about the chickens in the coop! Thankfully it was well secured and we were able to enjoy a more securely fenced out area by the silo.
We heard some barking dogs in the distance (neighbor?), but didn’t see any. Boundaries and fences were not fully clear to me, so we just mostly stuck to the silo. All and all beautiful property with plenty of room to roam.
We had a great sunny day at Ham Lake Retreat, with lots of stick-fetching, grass-rolling, and pond-splashing!
Had a great time at Ham Lake Farm. My Border Collie and I had a nice space all to ourselves with no interference from anything. When thinking of an ideal spot to play frisbee and Chuk-It, this would be it. Nice partial shade made it all the better. We will definitely come back as it is a convenient location right outside of Kent. No concerns or complaints whatsoever. Directions were spot-on and parking clearly marked. Thank you to the host for making this great country Sniffspot setting available to my city dog. See you again!
-Mark & Hoppy
Great day spent here with our 2 dogs! We will be back!
