Description

** We have temporarily deactivated our Sniff Spot. Look for updates here. We have 5 fully-fenced fields. Each field offers something a little different. Guests have all 5 fields for their private use at their reserved time. There are no other guests present at your booking time. Fields are pesticide-free, fertilizer-free, mowed frequently, and connected via internal gates with limited opportunities to encounter deer or other forest animal droppings. We ask that all "played with" toys are placed in the "dirty toy" bucket for the HOST to clean between guests which lessens the risk of shared bacteria and viruses. Our guests are not required to clean the toys or water buckets as indicated in the "general Sniff Spot rules". AMENITIES INCLUDE: Covered seating. Accessible water in each field ensuring the freshest possible hydration. Pet waste bags and on-site pet waste disposal. Heated water buckets during cold weather. Fan cooled shelter during warm weather. Cell phone charging station. Stereo Portable Bluetooth speaker Small and large kiddie pools during warm weather Occasional pet periodicals Tree tug toys in two fields. THE SNIFF SPOT TREASURE BOXES in 4 of our 5 fields include small and large pet toys that are cleaned between guests. Our goal is to make sure you know what to expect when you arrive for your pet's physical and mental exercise. When making reservations which include friends, please provide your friend's first name to ensure that we can properly greet them with a personal message and a first-visit welcome gift. Additionally, your pet will receive a special goodie on or around their birthday so feel free to let us know the date. We're located 30 acres from Tahoma National Cemetary so while visiting us, you may hear a 21 gun salute in the distance. You may also see a bald eagle or two perched on one of our fir trees from time to time. Happy sniffing!

Hazards

Blackberries lining the inside of field #3 . Some uneven ground in three of the five fields.

Fran's Ranch Setting is the best! Great, large fields - all fenced in and private, with toy boxes in each, and one dedicated totally to agility training! Nestled in beautiful Kent horse country, it is our favorite spot.

  • Susan D., Apr 9, 2020

Great time today! Cooper had so much fun running around sniffing while I bounced from shelter to shelter....there were lots of smells for him today...so many that he wasn't interested in toys at all which was nice for me. It was rainy and chilly so I was really happy to have the tents to stand under and the space heaters to warm my hands while I watched my boy racing around happy as can be. We always really enjoy our time here and every visit is different than the one before. Fran works hard to keep her guests comfortable and happy and is so thoughtful. Our very most favorite Sniffspot. ♥ ♥ ♥

  • Jen C., Apr 9, 2020

We love Fran’s Ranch! All of our dogs have the best time playing and running around. The shelters, snacks and drinks for the humans is great too!

  • Susan D., Apr 9, 2020

We love this Sniffspot!! Fran has made every effort imaginable to make her guests feel welcome and every visit is such a pleasure! Honestly, I think she is one of the kindest and most generous people I've met in my lifetime and we are so honored to have the opportunity to share her beautiful space. We feel very secure and happy whenever we are here. Recently Fran added some agility equipment in one of the fields and Cooper had a blast! Cannot wait to visit again soon! Thank you Fran! :-)

  • Susan D., Apr 9, 2020

Spectacular Sniffspot. Fran has thought of every detail and provided anything & everything her dog and human guests could ever dream of needing. Ample space to run and play and very secure. Big huge thumbs up! ☺

  • Kimberley A., Apr 9, 2020

Our host Fran goes above & beyond with making her guests comfortable at her beautiful Ranch Setting! It has all the comforts of home for humans & dogs alike. Hot & cold beverages, a monthly drawing, speakers, electricity, chairs, & shade tents for humans. Pools, towels, different sized water dishes, hoses with fresh water, different sized toys in toy bins, treats, paw washers, agility course, 4 different fields to play in, poop bags & trash cans & treat bags for your dogs for visiting! I feel very secure & safe on the fully fenced & secure acreage. I will continue to use the amazing Sniff Spot & I will tell everyone I know how great it is.

  • Susan D., Apr 9, 2020

Really great place to take your reactive (or non-reactive) pup! Large, groomed fields with a variety of terrains and tall, secure fencing surrounding entire area. A very safe space to play and Fran has put huge effort into making each visit fun and totally worry-free. There are loads of toys and activities for both pups and humans and it's a really outstanding Sniffspot all around. We ♥ Ranch Setting. ☺

  • Susan D., Apr 9, 2020

Stupendous! Fran has thought of everything for her human and dog guests....first aid kits, snacks (both dog and human), toys, a variety of seating and even space heaters!!! Really delightful and such a pleasant place to visit. Cooper has loads of fun roaming around and sniffing and exploring the treasure chests looking for his favorite toys. Fran is such a kind and generous host and has gone to great lengths to make her guests feel welcome. She has gotten to know Cooper's favorite toys and always tries to make sure they're available for his visits. We are so happy here and feel so blessed every time we visit. Thank you Fran for everything....you are the very best Sniffspot host and we are so grateful for everything you do. ♥ ♥ ♥

I drove down from Bellevue, and it is absolutely worth it. Fran is just a wonderful human being. I didn't realize that we would have all 5 fields. And each of the fields has a plastic tub full of toys, and a water dish, and a shelter for the non-canine visitors. When we arrived, she explained that there were snacks and a Keurig and tea and hot apple cider and... I was completely blown away. It was incredible. I will absolutely be booking here again.

  • Jennifer K., Apr 9, 2020

My pups and I love this spot! There's so much space for them to run about and the owner really makes it a pleasant place for both the dogs and their people. It's pretty quiet and the property borders with a neighbor, but we haven't had any issues with that. We've been twice so far and we'll definitely be reserving again!

Greetings! We are located just north of Covington. We have an alpaca and one horse which are kept away from our "sniff spots". We understand that not every dog can visit populated dog parks, and why we are delighted to offer private play space for you. We have five fully-fenced fields to offer our guests and their pups. Our inside-only pup is not permitted to be outside while our guests are present. We're very conscious of the comfort and safety of our guests and welcome special accommodations for pets, RV and handicap parking.

*12/5/23* There is a LARGE amount of standing water (small lake) and puddles in the spot due to current flooding conditions. *fall/winter update* We have mud, please consider bringing a towel for your pup(s). During the month of October we host a pumpkin patch every weekend and must close the Sniffspot for everyone’s safety. If you are a member please contact us if you aren’t available during the week to use your time. Well socialized pups are always welcome at the patch. 🎃 We have various levels of flooding during the winter; the spot has is anticipated to have mud and large puddles. At times we may need to close the spot due to excessive flooding (no dry land!). Please reach out if you have questions about how much water is in the spot. Keep in mind we also have increased migratory waterfowl in the pasture adjacent. We have new neighbors at the west end of the pasture. Please be aware there may be construction during your visit, we apologize for any inconvenience. 1 acre of flat field in a beautiful setting. One large tree in the corner. Fully fenced approx 4.5’ with predator fencing (a very small dog may be able to get out). We have motion lights that come on at night, not super bright but makes the spot visible during early night winters. Boarded by two, large pastures, a private road with limited use and our barn. Occasionally during the wet months flocks of geese/ducks may land in the wetlands adjacent. We have goats and chickens but they are on the other side of the property and should not be seen/heard. We have a dog ‘Veles’ that will be on the other side of the property or in the house. There is a covered bench and trash can in the spot, fresh water is also available. An outdoor bathroom is available for use, see map. When using the bathroom please keep your pup in your car as it is near our goats and free range chickens. We look forward to hosting you and your pup! Please reach out if you have questions. -Jenn & Drew

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the switchback trails. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted our forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are here, starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Big Leaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024 (hasn't started as of 2/27/24). Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) P.S. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

Dog Nirvana is a Membership Spot. As a result most times show as unavailable as they are for members. Slots will sometimes be made available at the last minute if members aren't using them all. That typically happens the day of or the day before. If you would like to become a member please let us know if you would like to be placed on the membership waiting list. Come enjoy yourself in the country! We have over 10 fully fenced acres that include two spring-fed private ponds for dogs that like the water, some slight hills for running and playing, lots of wide open space and a beautiful creek. There will be no dogs, people or animals outside on my property during your visit. Please just bring your own toys and pick up after your dogs. I look forward to welcoming you! * The entire 10+ acre perimeter of the property is steel mesh fencing with poles and/or steel mesh fencing in horse fencing to keep the entire perimeter secure and safe. PLEASE NOTE there are TWO FENCING SYSTEMS here -- the internal pastures that are fenced in 3 rail white fencing and the perimeter fencing which consists of steel mesh to the ground and large log poles and/or 3 rail fencing with steel mesh down to the ground. The pasture fencing is located INSIDE of the separate property perimeter fencing. If a dog runs under the white interior pasture fencing they are still secured within the perimeter system. * The front gate and a service gate are metal with horizontal rails with 6.5 inches between each rail. Smaller dogs could potentially get out through the rails. A picture of the gate is included in listing photos so that guests can assess whether the gate will be an issue for them so they can determine whether this property will be appropriate for their pup(s). * This property is pretty secluded. Two sides of the property are surrounded by conservation land (woods), one by a quiet neighborhood road (with the only house set back and not visible while on my property) and the fourth (above the house and barn) by 60 acres in two parcels. The neighbors ' horses might be seen in the distance along the upper side of my property and you might hear their dogs barking from several acres away periodically. * Several pastures have covered horse sheds in them that can be used by visitors for shelter from rain or sun. * There is a dog dish for water, a container of water, poop bags and several garbage cans for doggie poop bags! * If you bring additional guests with pups PLEASE make sure they are aware of all information/rules shared in the listing and via message by the host. * Carey Creek runs along the entire south side of the lowest pasture. It is fully useable for guests. it is on my property but outside of our secure fences so if you go out the gates at the bottom of the property to get to the creek you should leash up if your dog has poor recall. * We have access across the road from the property to 1800 + acres with 30 miles of trails on Taylor Mountain (King County Park) so make it a day and come enjoy our little slice of heaven!

Hello and welcome to our Sniffspot! We are new to being a Sniffspot host and we hope you enjoy your time here. It's a large, open one acre pasture with plenty of room to run and play. Tall fir trees, farmland and single family homes surround the property. There are neighbors who walk their dogs or play with their dogs in their yards. There are no shared fence-lines but we are noting this in case your dog might be reactive or sensitive to seeing and hearing other dogs and people. There are also chickens nearby - see note below. Double gated entrance for security. Park along the fence on the gravel drive. Plenty of room for your pup to enjoy the zoomies! A few things below to note, thank you! *🎾💦 For the toys and water bowls, we have labeled bins for 'clean' and 'dirty/used'. Please utilize items from the clean containers and then place in used/dirty so we can thoroughly clean them. Thank you! * 🥾The terrain of the pasture does have some dips and there is a section of mown grass, as well as a portion of longer pasture grass, and sticks from the fir trees. Wearing solid and/or waterproof shoes will help you navigate the land. *💡we have 4 sets of string lights on our fence, two small solar spotlights on the fence, and one large spotlight on the far power pole (motion sensor). It adds some brightness to the pasture for evening visitors. Note that since it is an acre lot, there is a portion of the pasture that is still quite dark once the sun is fully set. *🐓 There are three chickens on a neighboring fence line and the gate to their henhouse yard has a sign (don't let the chickens out, no matter what they say), as well as a secure gate latch plus bungee cord. They will stay on the far side of their yard, and hide under the shrub/tree cover so are usually not be visible from the Sniffspot pasture, but wanted to share in case this is bothersome to some pup guests. Our rooster, as well as neighborhood roosters, are regularly heard. *please note: this pasture was used for a month (June 2023) by our goats & chickens and so the dirt in areas may be infused with the flavor of goat. While we have cleaned much of it, it can still be tasty to some dogs so wanted you to be aware * due to the burn ban, wildland fires and the dryness of our land, we ask for no smoking on the property at this time, thank you

Walter & Bug's Private Dog Park In Kent / Covington
