Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat | 5-Acre Nature Escape

Welcome to Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat -- a peaceful 5-acre nature escape in south Maplewood near Battle Creek, just minutes from I-94 & McKnight. This is still undeveloped farmland, roughly the size of a city block, tucked into the suburbs, with rolling hills, mature trees, wooded trails, open field space, wildlife scents (ton of bunnies!), and a very different feel from a typical backyard spot. Dogs get room to run, sniff, explore, and decompress away from crowded dog parks, while hoomans can relax in the shade or bring family for a picnic. For history buffs, the property also has the only standing barn in Maplewood, built in 1896 and still in use. QUICK 30-MIN VISITS are great for pups who just need to burn energy, stretch their legs, or take a potty break. The main fenced play area is approx. 60 x 100 ft, with room for off-leash play, fetch, zoomies, a 7-ft spring pole, and the NEW Pup Parkour Platform for climbing, balancing, confidence-building, and play. Lots of balls, frisbees, tug ropes, and poop bags available. Water play includes a popular splash pad, bathing sprayer with doggie shampoo, and a fancy lawn sprinkler with settings for pups who love “eating water” lol! Parking is right next to the gate, with shaded seating and a hammock for the hoomans too -- sometimes suspiciously comfortable. Please remember, you did bring a dog ;) For 30-min visits, please use the fenced area only. The spot is largely SELF-SERVE. Water play should be on and ready when you arrive; please turn ALL water off when it’s not being used and before you leave, since I may not always be home to monitor it. I may or may not come out to say hi depending on my work schedule, so don’t wait for me -- just come in and enjoy your visit. I keep app notifications on and am good about responding, so message me anytime if you have a question or need something. For the FULL MAPLEWOOD FARM EXPERIENCE, I recommend booking 1–2 hours. Explore the fenced area, then head through the back gate for a slower long-leash walk through the wooded trails, around the barn and house, and toward the open field. There are also a couple trolley lines for semi-free roaming; the longer one runs over a road trail. Trolley attachments may be at either end of the line, so check both ends if you don’t see one right away. Signs and a property map in the photos help guide you, but feel free to explore and take whatever route suits you. My pups stay inside during reservations. Occasionally, I may be working in a designated area between the house and barn, mostly out of sight. Any active work area will be coned off -- just give it a little space. This is a natural, dog-friendly space with a manicured feel -- part private dog park, part little nature retreat. Dogs are welcome to explore, climb on logs and wood-chip piles, sniff around, chew or pull on branches, and dig -- even inside the fenced area. I’m not precious about the landscape here, esp since the property may be developed next year. While it’s still here, I want our furry friends to have it and enjoy it. Foster dogs and dogs with physical or sensory challenges are welcome for a steep discount. The spot is open pretty much anytime from early morning to midnight, so you can book around your dog’s energy, the weather, or your own schedule. LED night lights make evening visits easy, and nighttime can be much cooler for pups on hot days. Bug spray available. Supervised campfire use available -- privately message me. As a dog lover and builder, I pay attention to how pups actually use the space and keep adding small improvements and enrichment features as I go. The newest addition is the Pup Parkour Platform -- strongly built from logs and sawn lumber, with ramps, balance beams, climbing surfaces, and colorful stepping stumps for pups of different sizes and confidence levels. Ultimate Sniffing Experience in Roseville!

Nearly 1/3 of an acre in Roseville available for your dog to sniff until their heart’s content! Open mowed grassy area wide enough for zoomies and long enough for fetch, as well as natural/unmanicured shaded areas for “jungle sniffari’s”. Not far off of Highway 36 and 35E, enjoy the perks of room to run while having the privacy of your own space. Plenty of seating for humans underneath a shaded gazebo, with a table and basic amenities for guest use. Please be aware that we do have other dogs in the neighborhood. This includes our direct neighbors to the north, who we share a chain link fence with. If you are visiting on an evening or weekend, there’s a good chance their dog will be outside also!

David's Fully Fenced Yard

Quiet circle in pleasant neighborhood just off Central Ave and 694. Fully fenced and easy access from the street. Relax on the deck while your dog explores the yard and splashes in the kiddie pool and plays with the toys. Two small woodsy areas in back. Wood chips and some brush areas all around. Hose and sprinkler available in summer. On occasion you will see rabbits and squirrels running around.

Our yard is fully fenced with plenty of room to run around and throw a ball. The property spans three lots, so it is a large yard for the city. There is a small gap (~6 inches) between the ground and the fence in a few spots. This isn’t an issue for the majority of pups, but FYI if your dog is small and likes to escape.

Rice Creek Sniffspot

A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end. Please do not park in the driveway. Enter the yard using the gate located to the left of the garage.

Located minutes from the trails in Thompson park, enjoy a private backyard to get away from the crowds! Enter on left side of driveway through gate. Please park on the street first, if the is street Is full then park in the driveway. There is also a garbage located right before you enter the backyard, please use that for any waste. Great spot with room to run, toys, some agility equipment, and seasonal plastic fur kid pool! Fully fenced: 1 side privacy fence, 2 sides chain link, and one side with the house and gate. Added FYIs: - Place bagged poop in the small garbage bin. 🗑️💩 - Please do not allow pups to dig or to enter the small separately fenced garden. 🌱🪏 - If you remember, it helps to throw "fetch" in lots of different directions to spread out the "wear and tear." IF something goes over the fence, do please just let us know (we will contact the neighbor)--**do not** physically step over the fence (it causes fence damage) 🏡 🤳🏻 - "Same day" bookings will probably have the bedtime and morning 💩 from my pups since I routinely only pick up after work during warm months. If you book 24+ hours in advance I can squeeze in an extra poo pickup before work. - *WINTER I pick up weekly, weather-permitting, so might NOT be a great spot for pups who eat poopsicles--you know who you are! 💩 ❄️ 🐶 🍨🍦 limited daylight and full time hospital work hours (I go to work and come home in the dark)
