55Wonderful space, lots of toys, water, a little agility area, multiple shady spots, a bench, pretty much everything you could possibly need. Nice big space for play. Will definitely return.

Description

WE ARE MEMBERSHIP-ONLY THRU APRIL AND OUR MEMBERSHIP IS FULL. Membership numbers fluctuate though, so if you are a RETURNING guest and are interested in a membership, please message host. We are open to members-only September28th-April 31st to limit property wear and tear during the wetter months. **Maple Valley Romp-N-Roam can only be booked 2 weeks in advance by non-members if hours are available. **To ensure your visit is an enjoyable experience, please read the entire description of the property, fencing details and my property rules.** *Bookings with multiple dogs- For every 2 dogs beyond 4, an additional adult is required. This helps to ensure the property remains poop-free. Our completely fenced 1.3 acre Sniffspot and completely fenced property perimeter gives you peace of mind that your pups are safe and secure as you let them play and explore. With a gently sloping pasture for running, trees and stumps for exploring, and low-level agility equipment to build confidence on, your fur baby is sure to find something that sparks their interest. Although completely fenced, supervision is always recommended. Refer to property map for details and don't forget to read our property rules. I look forward to hosting you and your dogs!

Hazards

Uneven ground in some areas. Moles are always a problem. Feel free to kick dirt into mole holes to fill them as they could pose a trip hazard for your dog. I try and pick up fallen tree branches but sometimes they hide in tall grass areas. Wild blackberry vines are low to the ground and can pose a trip hazard. Please use caution when walking. Wear appropriate shoes in the wet months. Elk and deer poo are possible at certain times of the year. Some dogs love the stuff, others are indifferent. Please be advised. Agility equipment can be hazardous if not used safely. We suggest checking out YouTube videos or consulting a trainer for some great suggestions on how to use them. We have one area (shown on map) where neighbor dogs and people might be seen. I've added privacy screening in this area to help keep distractions and fence meetings at a minimum. Please don't allow dogs to jump on the privacy screening. We are in the country. Animals we have seen on the property in spite of our 5' perimeter fencing include bear, deer, bobcat, eagles, coyotes and a variety of smaller chase-worthy critters. Although these are not common sightings, it's something to be aware of. Small dogs should be watched closely. Even keep an eye to the sky.

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 66-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, tall old growth trees, a creek, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far left and right over a bluff that winds around to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. ('Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by'). At the very bottom, our Madhatter trail leads to a creek. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, a cliff, and creek on the other. Bring more than one dog, if at all possible, because they LOVE to play 'Hide and Go Seek', and chase each other around in circles on the switchback trails, down the hill to the creek and back up the hill to the lodge. This tranquil forest was mostly clear-cut between 66 to 100 years ago then not replanted. So we replanted our 2-acre forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, Pacific Northwest duff, with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, 1 Madrona, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared the yard as a Sniffspot for dogs. Rarely seen are animals in the forest - occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, raccoons, mice, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are seen and heard here- thrush, grosbeaks, warblers, sparrows, starlings, chickadees, flycatchers, redstarts, vireos, tanager, pewees, orioles, woodpeckers - shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, such as hawks, and American Bald Eagles. This is a rugged forested area so be careful of footing! watch for signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane (signs to be added soon). Do wear boots if you plan to access the creek. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to run, walk, play, pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest, one mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. A garbage container for poo bags is available at the top driveway as you exit under the Big Leaf Maple tree on the right in the large gray bin marked "Garbage". We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it now! 2 Starbucks are less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms are available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) Wonderlane is a place to commune with nature, a peaceful place to breathe in nature with some walks over and around 2 acres of forested hills. You can't get lost, just keep going up if you are unsure. When it is raining and for water dogs, bring a towel to dry off pups' paws. There is water to wash dogs down near the creek. Actually there are water hydrants in most areas. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may keep your pup leashed the 20 ft from your vehicle to the top of either trailhead. When leaving via either trail at the top you can easily pause to leash your dog if you wish. PS. If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries!
