60 acres of upstate New York forest just for you!

Greetings! Our land is a mix of flat grass (think lawn), some long/short pasture, and the majority being heavy wooded forest area. You will enjoy some rustic logging trails up there (but please don’t expect a perfect state park-type path). The terrain can be steep to climb to the top depending on your skill level. Once you are at the “top” of the hill, there is “flat” land that you can hike (I’ve even jogged up there -slowly!). For those of you that like a challenge, besides our two pathways up the hill, we offer a very steep side of the hill to climb. One of the photos shows water – that is the case if there is a heavy rain (likely September/October) but please know we don’t always have a running stream. We do offer a hose and bucket to rinse your dog’s feet at the end of the stay. The photos with the leaves are from last year – this is what the property will [hopefully] look like in September/October. November starts getting cold. December will bring snow with some plowed areas. For accessibility: if you use a wheelchair, you can drive your car onto the land and use the flat part of the land if you can access grassy lawn. If there is interest, I can offer to take your dog up the hill to run around for a nominal fee. We are new to this so please ask questions. Consider this spot “forever wild” woods. It is incredibly calm and peaceful up on the hill. You can quietly listen to the woods or bring a radio and sing to your dog loudly. If you are not a climber, even playing fetch behind the barn is nice. Note: inside the barn is off limits. This is a working property and there are tools, tractors, and such that are not good for any animals. Please Remember: there are no fences and we have a state highway in front of our property. All the area that you would use would be set back an appropriate distance, but I want to be clear for everyone sake that there are no fences. If your dog does not come back when called, perhaps this spot isn’t the best for any off-leash activity. Wild Animals: There are deer in the woods (and some dogs love to chase deer!) so please keep that in mind as well. We have also seen rabbits and an occasional skunk, raccoon, fox, groundhogs, and once even a porcupine. We hear coyote sometimes but I have not seen any on our land. Upstate New York has been known to house bobcats, mountain lions, and bears among others, but I have yet to see them on our land as well. We do see bald eagles on occasion.

Doggone Gorges

Currently closed as we renovate! Explore Doggone Gorges 5.48 acres of pure bliss! Enchanted woods complete with Ithaca’s six-mile creek access for cooling off. Lay a blanket down, have a picnic, play fetch, splash around in the creek, or just take a stroll on our beautiful trails. Whether your dog is a sniffer, a fetcher, or a swimmer this is the perfect spot! This is the ideal place to practice recall with your dog while you explore nature in the most magnificent way. I have a cupboard of goodies to use as you wish, please help yourself before you hit the trails. If you do borrow something please make sure to sanitize and replace it before leaving. I provide biodegradable/disposable bags available to assist in cleaning up after your dog. Please help keep the spot beautiful by picking up after yourself and your pup. In the summer, I try to have a tent set up alongside the creek (weather permitting/keep rock in place so the tent stays grounded) so your dog can sit and relax in the shade if they wish while you enjoy your time taking in the scenery, or while relaxing in the hammock. We also have chairs for our human guests down by the creek. Please be mindful to stay within the boundaries of the property lines shown on the map (we strongly suggest downloading a free trial of OnX Hunt before your visit to help keep you within the boundaries). There are limited trail markers along the paths. My bordering neighbors are all very friendly and conscious of the use of my property being used as a sniff spot. The property lines cannot be crossed by guests and their dogs, as permission to access their property is not permissible. Please use extra caution during hunting season from October-December (preferably you and your dog should wear bright colors) in the event that there are hunters adjacent to the property. NO HUNTING is allowed on the property at any time. Cell phone service isn’t great but there are a few places to connect. There is a Bluetooth speaker to connect to if desired. Please select Alpine Corporation. There is no bathroom on site, so please make sure to use the potty before your arrival. Trash cans and Recycle bins are on the premise. Please throw away any garbage on your way out (including poo bags). Litterbugs will not be welcomed back. If you see a time blocked that you would like to visit, please contact me. I block time for myself and family events however my schedule may be flexible. If your dog is reactive please do not book as this is not a good fit. This area is not contained, potentially leaving your dog neither leashed nor under voice/remote control, and freely able to escape poses an unacceptable risk to my neighbors, their children, and their pets and I will not take this risk. I prefer to meet guests on the first visit to show you the property lines and answer any questions you may have.

Beautiful location, friendly host. Took us about 30min to walk the trail, might take less time if you're an athletic person. Definitely recommend.

We had an excellent time here this morning!! The cut lanes were mowed short enough for me to not be soaked with morning dew but still left long enough that I could see many little insects and creatures scurrying around which makes me happy. We got to see some deer and enjoy the calls of the bullfrogs and overall had a lovely time! Nancy was very communicative and came out to help me find the correct parking location which I appreciated. We will definitely be back next time I am in the area!

We were so surprised to see cute birthday decorations throughout the sniff spot. I casually mentioned that we were having a birthday celebration for our dog. :) Stephanie went out of her way to welcome our dog and us. Our dog really enjoyed it. We were able to practice recall and he was able to play with his friend in an open space.

This was just perfect! Wonderful views, nice gently uphill road to hike, so much to to love. We will definitely be back! The rain and fog were magical, we saw little red salamanders, and it was just a bit of heaven.

WOW!! That is all I can say! This place has breathtaking views and so much space to explore for the dogs. My pup looooved swimming in the little pond and sprinting back and forth up the hilly trail, which wore him out completely. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back again soon. Nancy, the host, was so lovely to chat with and very helpful.

Great trails, kind hosts. They were considerate of my dogs reactivity needs when we drove up to meet them. We didn’t get to explore the whole place because it was so hot out but we will definitely come back to visit again!

This was our very first time using Sniffspot, & it couldn’t have been a better experience! We have two dogs, a one-year-old reactive German Shepherd and a twelve-year-old who doesn’t hear super well anymore. Being able to play with them in the pool & in the yard with the huge selection of toys (ie balls, tug ropes, etc) available without worrying about running into any other dogs or having them wander off was the absolute biggest relief. The host was beyond welcoming, thoughtful, & communicative, & we can’t thank her enough for having us. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Heaven! Exceeded my expectations in every way! I have two Boxers (a reactive female and a senior male) This amazing property allowed me to let my babies roam freely without worry as it is completely fenced. The area is immaculate, offering interest at every point. The Host was wonderful! Friendly, and communicative! A well stocked tote awaited featuring treats (both humans and canine), towels, toys, first aid, water, fruit and more! Thank you Tiffany for allowing me to make beautiful memories with my Babies! Will definitely make this a regular visit!

Great spot! My dog had a wonderful time! I really appreciate the variety of toys that were put out. There was bug spray, sunscreen, and a umbrella if you needed it, as well as human snacks/drinks and a canine first aid kit.

This is was a phenomenal first experience for using Sniffspot! We brought our American Pit Bull Terrier, Chihuahua and Maltese from an hour away and will definitely be back. The snacks, dog pools, waters, dog toys and treats were a special touch and appreciated. The dogs enjoyed the paths in the fenced area then we did a short hike outside of the fence which was well-maintained. Two of our dogs are animal reactive so it was nice knowing there were no dogs or farm animals to be seen during our visit.

I accidentally booked for the wrong time and Jennifer was so accommodating to let me come a few minutes earlier than anticipated. She helped me wrangle my not very easy crew out of the car and gave us a great run down of the land. We had so much fun and all 3 dogs are home sleeping like bears 🩷

This spot is just as advertised. My dog loved seeing sheep and lambs for the first time. We went on a nice long hike and played in the creek. A tremendous value for the price.

Jennifer is very welcoming and great at communicating about the property, showing me the gates and main trail before leaving Zoe and me to explore the acres and acres of woods, with a stream and fenced pastures that are available for doggos that would otherwise run off. I’m sure Zoe thought she had died and gone to heaven having the place to herself! She even got to meet the friendliest horses, as they came right up to the fence to say hi on our way out. The chickens and sheep didn’t want anything to do with her though lol. The only time you’ll see other animals (not usually dogs) btw is entering and leaving past the farm creatures in their own fenced in areas (unless of course you run into something wild out in the woods.) Also, as Jennifer warned ahead of time: there will be mud and there will be ticks, so be sure you and your pup(s) are prepared. Amazing experience; can’t wait to go back! Oh, and do yourself a favor and buy a dozen of her farm fresh eggs for $3.00!

Always a pleasure to walk at Jennifer’s place. The snow makes it even more magical and no long grass to navigate. So glad Rox and I found her.
