55Fantastic spot for reactive dogs, ours had the best time. Very happy with the 1.5m deer fencing around the section as well! The only thing was the hose didn’t work properly which would’ve been nice for the dogsBrittney F.

55Amazing experience, we drove over from Taupō as we have no sniff spots in town and it was 1000% worth the drive. The boys loved it, water on site for drinking, a selection of toys, lovely clean bit of land and so much room for them to explore. We will definitely be back at some stage 😁Meliese R.

55Sarge’s first time coming here, and he absolutely loved it, so did we! Such a great, secure space for dogs to run around and explore. It was clean, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for. We’ll definitely be back.🐾 Jahvana K.

55We haven't visited for a wee while (since change of owners) very pleased to see that the property is very well maintained, "the forest" area and surrounds have been weed whacked and no big thistles. Toby was delighted to see the pond after all the rain. His favorite part. Thanks for carrying on providing a great private facility.Nicola C.

55A cold and wet day for the dog farm today but smiles all around nonetheless.. Caesar had a blast once again! The dog that hates swimming even decided to go for a paddle and slurp through the mini lake :) (about chest deep for a big dog)Sonja G.

55What a fantastic spot. Have a dog in rehab after being run over. Hard to find places to let him run freely without over-doing it. The Dog Farm is ideal for this. He had a blast. We will be back. Thank you for creating a safe place to run him.Hine d.

55Took our 6 month old reactive puppy out today and she loved it. She gets anxious at the dog park but here she has a great sniff and run around. Tired herself out in just 20 minutes. Will definitely be back!

55Horses were feeling a bit fresh this morning in the surrounding paddocks so we got a beautiful opportunity to work on focus around some unusual distractions. Thankful for all the shady spots today. 30 degrees by 8.30am. Sarah C.

55It’s always a great visit to this spot. If you are training your pup to adventure in the bush, sit quietly or expend a bit of energy - this place is the bees knees. Quiet. Beautifully kept and fully fenced in a way that makes you very confident your dog can only observe the occasional sheep or horse that occasionally pop up in paddocks nearby. A really calm spot for any type of dog but especially those with a bit of a hunting gene. :)Sal W.

Frequently asked questions about Eskdale dog parks
Are there dog parks in Eskdale for reactive dogs?
Yes! Eskdale has 5 private dog parks specifically designed for reactive, anxious, or dog-selective pets. Unlike public dog parks where unexpected encounters can trigger your reactive dog, Sniffspot offers completely private bookings. That means only you and your dogs will be there. We enforce 30-minute buffers between visits so you won't run into other park users when arriving or leaving. This makes Eskdale Sniffspots perfect for reactive dogs who need safe off-leash exercise.
How many private dog parks are in Eskdale?
Eskdale has 5 private Sniffspot locations ranging from cozy backyard spaces to expansive properties spanning 1+ acres. You'll find fully fenced dog parks, dog water parks, and small dog parks options, each offering complete privacy during your reserved time. Browse listings to compare sizes, amenities, fencing, and reviews from other Eskdale dog owners.
Are Eskdale dog parks friendly for all dog types?
Absolutely! Eskdale Sniffspot locations work for every type of dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer away from large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space to run, and yes, reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. Because bookings are completely private, you can customize the experience to your dog's specific needs—whether that's careful puppy introductions or stress-free exercise for nervous dogs.
Will there be other dogs at Eskdale dog parks?
No, that's what makes Sniffspot different from public dog parks! We only allow one booking at a time, and host dogs must be kept away during your visit. When you book a Eskdale dog park, you have the entire space to yourself (plus any dog-owning friends you invite). This privacy is crucial for reactive dogs, puppies in training, or any dog who needs space from other animals.
What makes Eskdale dog parks safe for anxious dogs?
Eskdale Sniffspot locations provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. There are no aggressive dogs, no inattentive owners, and no unexpected encounters that could traumatize anxious or fearful dogs. All guests must have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars, with many highlighting how safe their reactive or anxious dogs felt.
Can puppies use Eskdale dog parks?
Absolutely! Eskdale dog parks are ideal for puppy socialization because they provide controlled, distraction-free environments. Puppies can practice recall, build confidence, and explore without the overwhelming chaos of public dog parks. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting any Eskdale Sniffspot.
Are Eskdale dog parks good for small dogs?
Yes! Many Eskdale Sniffspot hosts mark their spaces as "small dog friendly," meaning they're appropriately sized for toy breeds and small dogs. Unlike public dog parks where small dogs risk being overwhelmed or injured by larger breeds, Eskdale private bookings give your small dog the entire space to themselves. Look for secure fencing with minimal gaps and hosts who understand petite pup needs.
What are the requirements for Eskdale dog parks?
All dogs must have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. Each Eskdale host may have additional requirements listed on their booking page. Most welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit traditional public dog parks.
