We also have a small flock of chickens, but they're always safely contained in a fully enclosed run with solid lower walls, so dogs can't see or access them. A small fenced vegetable garden is also fun for curious noses. The yard is mostly flat with lots of open grass, plus mature shade trees to help keep things cool on warm days.
