55Thank you to Allison for a wonderful, clean sniffspot. The little doggie lake is amazing. I have two very different levels of dog when it comes to water: One, a retriever who would live in it if he could and would keep swimming until he drowns from exhaustion if we let him and the other, a husky who used to refuse to even dip a toe but has since graduated to splashing in water where he can still stand at least. This pond is perfect for both of them, because it's deep enough for them to splash and cool off well, but not quite deep enough that they needed to actually tread water. Besides the water feature, there is a large open field for them to run around in, although mine mostly stuck to their water antics.
A couple of things to note: There are dogs in the neighbouring field on one side that ran up to the fence and barked at ours. My dogs were fine, but if you have a reactive dog just be aware. On another neighbouring side, there was a horse in the field. Again, not a problem, my husky went a little mad because he loves horses and tries his best to get his head kicked in by them, but the fencing was very secure so all he could do was howl and show his displeasure at not being able to get close to it and the horse did not seem bothered in the slightest by my crackhead bark machine.
Overall, this spot is awesome and we will definitely be back!Lusi d.

55We’ve had this place bookmarked for a long time and were happy to book it for our dog’s birthday.
He loved exploring the wide open field and he even mustered enough courage to go in the water. It’s a great place to let your dog run free, while having a nice covered seating area.
Five stars across the board!Teresa B.

55Beautiful place. As soon as our pup realises we’re going to his favourite spot, he starts crying for the rest of the way! It’s his new happy place. Amy P.

55What a special spot. Very accommodating to your pups fun and needs. Such a cool layout these folks are kind enough to share. Not far at all from town. My dogs had an absolute blast. Can’t recommend this destination enough. Great time had by all. Thanks again! We’ll be back!!
P.S. BTW~just a note: In reference to my dogs wearing their swim vests…those aren’t necessary at all. The pool isn’t very deep. Just the right depth for doggies. Big and small. It’s just my pittie is built like a tank. And he is more comfortable when in water wearing one. Gina L.

55Our dogs had so much fun here. Lots of space to run and let the zoomies out and of course the pond for dogs that enjoy the water. We also really appreciated the gazebo for the humans to get some shade while the dogs played. We will definitely be back!Tanya Y.

55We recently rescued our pup with severe anxiety, and today was the first time I’ve ever seen her run and play freely without fear. She’s usually triggered by people, animals, leaves falling — however she was having so much fun that all her stress melted away and she had a great time being in her element (even with neighbors/chickens/turkeys/dogs in the surrounding areas).
We were told our pup was also afraid of water, but today we discovered that she loves to swim! The pond was definitely the star of the show. Our dog is approximately 3ft tall when standing on all 4 legs, and some areas of the pond she couldn’t touch the bottom — so just be aware of that if you have smaller doggies with less swimming experience.
We will 1000% be coming back. 10/10 would recommend to all my friends and family with doggies who like to run, smell, or swim! Gina C.

55Our dogs had a great time here. We have a water dog and a water hesitant dog, and this site was great for both of them. Lots of room for fetch outside of the water, too! The host was gracious and communicative, and the spot was beautiful. Highly recommend!Katherine M.

55Ore favorite place to visit ❤️
We have seven dogs, five huskies, a great Pyrenees and a Chihuahua and it accommodates all different levels of dogs and their needs
They have the most beautiful pawn with the dogs and go in and out of. There’s so much room for the dogs to roam and play and run. Very clean up kept owners are very nice and accommodating.
They have a beautiful gazebo you can sit under and watch the pond on the water flowing. The view is amazing. Beautiful way to start your morning with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate. We will continue to visit our dogs always leave absolutely exhausted and happy.Elena M.

55Beautiful! My dog liked wading in the pond, running and rolling in the grass. You can tell the host is doing their best to eliminate the foxtails and keep the grass mowed. Felt very secure. We saw a very chill horse (my dog ignored thankfully!) and I saw chickens but my dog didn’t even see them. Really beautiful area, quiet and lovely. Thanks!Lindsay D.

55I have been to many sniffspot in the Bay Area and keep coming back to Allison’s sniffspot. My dog Phil loves this place. It has everything for him, water and a field to run around with lots of toys. I would say as far as sniffspot go this is as good as it gets. So if you’re cruising down 101 between San Francisco and Santa Rosa this is the place you want to be with your pup! Eric S.

Where can I find dog beaches in Petaluma?
Petaluma has 5 private dog beaches available through Sniffspot, offering swimming and beach activities in completely private settings. These locations range from compact spaces to properties spanning 23+ acres. Whether you need a space for your reactive dog, puppy socialization, senior dog gentle exercise, or high-energy play, Petaluma dog beaches provide safe, private environments. Filter for "fewer dogs seen/heard," specific amenities, or fencing types to find your perfect match.
How many dog beaches are in Petaluma?
Petaluma offers 5 dog beaches ranging from compact spaces to properties spanning acres. You'll find options such as dog water park, dog swimming pool, dog field, and more. Each Petaluma dog beach listing shows detailed photos, amenities, fencing specs, and reviews from local dog owners.
Are Petaluma dog beaches good for all dog types?
Yes! Petaluma dog beaches work for every dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer without large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space, and reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. The completely private bookings mean each dog gets the environment they need. Browse Petaluma's 5 options to find spaces matching your dog's specific temperament and needs.
Will I encounter other dogs at Petaluma dog beaches?
Not a chance. Petaluma dog beaches operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Petaluma owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.
Are Petaluma dog beaches safe for fearful or anxious dogs?
Yes! Petaluma dog beaches provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. Since bookings are completely private with 30-minute buffers, anxious dogs can explore a waterfront area where dogs can swim, play in sand, and enjoy beach activities off-leash without overwhelming encounters. Many Petaluma dog owners specifically choose dog beaches for fearful dogs who need gentle, stress-free exercise environments.
Can puppies use Petaluma dog beaches?
Absolutely! Petaluma dog beaches are excellent for puppy socialization because they're private and controlled. Puppies can explore a waterfront area where dogs can swim, play in sand, and enjoy beach activities off-leash, practice recall, and build confidence without the overwhelming chaos that can create fear or reactivity in young dogs. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting.
How do I choose the best dog beach in Petaluma?
Start by filtering Petaluma's 5 dog beaches for your specific needs: secure fencing for escape artists, "fewer dogs seen/heard" for reactive dogs, flat terrain for seniors, appropriate sizing for small dogs, or specific amenities for training.Read feedback from other Petaluma owners with similar dog types to find your perfect match.
What are Petaluma's dog beach requirements?
All dogs must have basic vaccinations or titers. Each Petaluma host may have additional rules on their listing. Most dog beaches welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit public dog parks. Adult supervision is required at all times.
