Lower property offers lake views and animal access from shore (people are not allowed to wade). 5+ acres are mowed, and an additional 2+ acres of trails and foot paths. Quiet and serene location far from roadways or neighbors. Let your dog run leash free or bring your GPS, wireless electric fencing system with you, and relax while your dog roams and discovers. We are animal friendly, but dogs will be inside or gone, and cats will either be inside or find trees while your pet enjoys the space. We do have a pool that is not dog friendly.

Smith River Paw Park

Smith River Paw Park in Axton, Virginia is a fully-fenced dog park located at 1000 Irisburg Rd. Dog owners are required to keep their dogs on a leash at all times and to carry a leash with them. Welcome to Doggy Pool Paradise! 🐶💦 The spot was started in honor of my sweet Bailey who passed away Easter weekend 2025 only 1 month shy of her 12th birthday. 💔 She was my soul dog and the primary reason I bought a house with a pool. Now I just want to see other dogs using it and having fun. 🐾🥰 We are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm weather permitting. $20 for one dog for the one-hour use of chemical balanced private pool- second hour is half price. This is a completely fenced area with deck, patio, sunroom and an 18x36 in-ground pool. Let your dog swim safely and securely in the saltwater pool Kiddie pool is also available for dogs who are unsure about the "Big" pool - set up, fresh water, and cleaning afterwards for a small extra fee. Choose this in the Extras section. Doggy life jackets in Small, Medium, Large, and XL are provided. Plenty of seating and shade available. Mini fridge with cold bottled water for only $1 each located in the sunroom (choose this in the Extras section). Fun Dog water toys, dog towels, large blue dog pool float "Woof", water bowls and pool ramp available to use at no extra charge. Please bring your own sunscreen. NOTE: Sorry, no bathroom is available for humans. Dogs must be current on Rabies vaccine and be on some sort of flea & tick preventative!! Proof of this must be sent to the host before your visit!! Screenshots are accepted. Poop bags & clean-up station provided near the gated entrance. All owners must pick up after their dogs in and out of the pool area!! Violators will not be allowed to return. There are security cameras on the premises. Max of two people (adults) per dog unless otherwise arranged with Host. NO children under the age of 16 permitted in the pool due to liability reasons! NO EXCEPTIONS! If you are bringing a child with you, they must sit on the side of the pool or in a chair and watch the dogs swim. They are NOT allowed in the pool under any circumstances!! If You are bringing more than one dog, they must already know each other and get along!You must also choose this in the extras section and pay the appropriate fees ahead of time. It is highly recommended that you brush your dog before your visit. If excessive fur in the filter becomes a problem then this sniff spot will unfortunately no longer be available. The perimeter of my property is fenced so you know you’re still on my property. However, it is triple strand so dogs could go through it. We do have chickens and ducks that free roam. We also have other animals that will be contained in the barnyard behind the barn. Drive straight down driveway towards RV. There will be a gate straightahead and another gate to the left. Park anywhere there and use either gate. The gate to the left leads to that big field and the creek runs the length of it. The other gate leads to the back and crosses over the creek. Walk up there just a bit and you will see a path to the left. It goes up to another open field.

This is the site of a forming intentional community. We are making it livable one step at a time. We bought the land cleared and in the meantime, use our 200+ acres to host hip camp, make bike trails and kayak out in areas. Attractions: Enter into one of the main parking areas by the house or keep driving! 1/2 mile down the road is another parking area. Keep going on that road and you’ll see a barn. Then, if you eventually curve to the right as you go down hill you might be able to figure out how to get to the big stream. The stream is sandy creek and that leads to the Banister river, which leads to the Dan. In about the middle of that main stretch, there is a road to the left that will bring you to a pond. I take my foxhound dog here while we hike the trails and work on the land. I found her on the side of the highway and found the owner but he didn’t want her back. I was going through a hard time. I did not intend on getting a dog, let alone a former hunting dog with such active needs! She had a lot of issues to figure out. We are both independent creatures which in the beginning was a source of trouble but now is a source of understanding. This land has been a blessing in us finding our balance. I can’t take her most places and let her off leash because her breed habit is to wander. She needs exercise. She has a need to run. She is so happy when we come here. She knows it means freedom. If it wasn’t for places like this, I would have a very frustrated pup! This place has helped us love each other. I hope you can experience the same!
