The cockleburs are out so check your pups coat of it's long. We did not see wildlife this time but have in the past.

First time up for the year, we've been up before but it was last year. Absolutely beautiful spot that is worth the drive. The access to the water is great and the view is phenomenal. The cockleburs are out so check your pups coat of it's long. We did not see wildlife this time but have in the past.
So grateful to have this space so close to Fort Collins. It's by far my favorite in the area.

55I first went to this spot with a friend who had booked it for their dog. I wanted to check it out first as I have a partner who uses a cane to walk and doesn't do great on uneven ground. It's really hard for us to find locations where the dog can be off leash and are also accessible. This place is very accessible, especially since you can drive all the way in. Chair users will not be able to access all of this spot, but can access a good portion of it.
The spot is a bit of a drive from Fort Collins where I live, but the drive is beautiful and the spot is really worth it! There's plenty of space for playing or wandering. Having a brachycephalic breed, I love that there's water for my pup to go swimming or just for cooling off.
We stopped at Vern's on the way up and got breakfast. When we got there it was so nice to just sit at the table, eat breakfast, and enjoy watching our pup sniff around. We even spotted a few deer and a bald eagle. We will certainly be back for breakfast and adventuring!
Note: this spot is not fully fenced and there is wildlife in the area. If your dog does not have a good recall, bring your long line. Meghan H.

I was a little nervous about the partially fenced area with deer sightings, because my dog is reactive and still learning recalls, but it was a great space. My dog loved running around and then cooling off in the pond.
If you pull into what looks like an Airbnb, keep going, it’s a little further down. The parking is a little hidden on the right across from the lake, before the field.

55This was a great spot. My dog had such an amazing time. There's grassy areas, plus more forested sections. The lake has a few easy access spots for dogs, plus a small stream that was also a hit. We saw a couple deer at a distance, and there was a bull or garter snake in the grass at one point for bonus excitement.
The composting toilet is very clean and convenient, especially since there's not much in the way of places to stop on the drive up.
You might want to bring sticks or floating toys for the lake, DEFINITELY bring bug spray.

This was a great spot. My dog had such an amazing time. There's grassy areas, plus more forested sections. The lake has a few easy access spots for dogs, plus a small stream that was also a hit. We saw a couple deer at a distance, and there was a bull or garter snake in the grass at one point for bonus excitement.
The composting toilet is very clean and convenient, especially since there's not much in the way of places to stop on the drive up.

It takes a lot to wear this little one out and this space is big enough to do that! The lake is really pretty, my dog isn't a swimmer but she did walk around in the shallow areas of the water to cool down. There is a picnic table tucked away when you walk past the sitting area by the water, as well as another tucked away green space further past the picnic table. The drive there is absolutely gorgeous, though there are some pretty narrow spots on the road right before you get to the place, but was still able to get my mid-size truck through it with no problem. Best to go pretty slow when you start approaching the area, mostly because of the narrowness. If someone is coming from the opposite direction, someone will have to back up. All in all, a lovely experience and a great time for my pup! I hope to be back here again! Brooke B.

Holy cow is this place awesome. My two high-energy pups did NOT want to leave. They stood in the lake giving me puppy eyes as I was trying to get them in the car to go home lol. And this was after 2 hours of non-stop splashing, swimming, running and romping around. Beautiful property, thanks for hosting us! Can't wait to come back.

There are picnic tables and chairs available, so it’s a perfect spot to picnic and enjoy the afternoon. Also, the owner was so accommodating when we needed to switch days due to bad weather. My only comment is that the perimeter is not dog proof — our dogs tried to wander a little too far a couple of times, so you do have to keep an eye out if your dog doesn’t listen well.
