Buster's Barn & Field

Fully Fenced
5 acres

Buster was a 16 year-old dog who passed away while running in his sleep on July 25, 2025. He enjoyed his field with family dogs his entire life. He was the last one as I am at an age now where I probably won't be getting another dog; so, I want others to enjoy the land. After the first freeze, I drain the interior pipes and hot water heater to the wash stall inside the barn, there is however a 12-month frost free outdoor fountain on the back side of the barn by the woods with a water trough and plenty of electric outlets. I mowed a trail around the perimeter that is about .4 miles for a walk / run around the inside of the perimeter of the five acre field (.2 miles if you cut through the middle to avoid the little hill on the side next to the houses on the road). Thank you for visiting and have fun!!

60 acres of upstate New York forest just for you!

Unfenced
60 acres

NOTE: ON HOLD UNTIL DEC 9 ( DUE TO HUNTING SEASON) Greetings! Our land is a mix of flat grass (think lawn), some long/short pasture, and the majority being heavy wooded forest area. You will enjoy some rustic logging trails up there (but please don’t expect a perfect state park-type path). The terrain can be steep to climb to the top depending on your skill level. Once you are at the “top” of the hill, there is “flat” land that you can hike (I’ve even jogged up there - slowly!). For those of you that like a challenge, besides our two pathways up the hill, we offer a very steep side of the hill to climb. One of the photos shows water – that is the case if there is a heavy rain (likely September/October) but please know we don’t always have a running stream. We do offer a hose and bucket to rinse your dog’s feet at the end of the stay. The photos with the leaves are from last year – this is what the property looks like in autumn. November starts getting cold. December will bring snow with some plowed areas. For winter, you and your dog can frolic in the snow and we can provide you with towels, wipes, whatever you may need to "clean off" before getting back in the car. With advance notice, we can provide coffee, tea, or cocoa. For accessibility: if you use a wheelchair, you can drive your car onto the land and use the flat part of the land if you can access grassy lawn. If there is interest, I can take your friendly dog up the hill to run around for a nominal fee. We are new to this so please ask questions. Consider this spot “forever wild” woods. It is incredibly calm and peaceful up on the hill. You can quietly listen to the woods or bring a radio and sing to your dog loudly. If you are not a climber, even playing fetch behind the barn is nice. Note: inside the barn is off limits. This is a working property and there are tools, tractors, and such that are not good for any animals. Please Remember: there are no fences and we have a state highway in front of our property. All the area that you would use would be set back an appropriate distance, but I want to be clear for everyone sake that there are no fences. If your dog does not come back when called, perhaps this spot isn’t the best for any off-leash activity. Wild Animals: There are deer in the woods (and some dogs love to chase deer!) so please keep that in mind as well. We have also seen rabbits and an occasional skunk, raccoon, fox, groundhogs, and even a porcupine once. We hear coyote sometimes but I have not seen any on our land. Central New York has been known to house bobcats, mountain lions, and bears among others, but I have yet to see them on our land as well. We do see bald eagles on occasion. Lastly, your reservation is for 90 minutes to allow for time to truly enjoy nature.

Frequently asked questions about Burlington Flats dog hiking trails

What amenities do Burlington Flats dog hiking trails typically include?

Burlington Flats dog hiking trails feature amenities designed for natural exploration and varied terrain: woods, hiking trail and scenic views, secure fencing options, water stations, waste disposal, and often extras like toys, shade structures, or parking. Unlike public parks with generic setups, Burlington Flats hosts customize their spaces. Browse 12 listings to compare—from bare essentials to luxury amenities perfect for your dog's needs.

Can I find dog hiking trails in Burlington Flats with water access?

Many Burlington Flats dog hiking trails include water features! Filter by amenities to find swimming pools, natural ponds, or water play areas. Water is perfect for hot Burlington Flats days, water-loving breeds, or low-impact exercise for seniors and disabled dogs. Each listing specifies water type, depth, and safety features. Some Burlington Flats hosts provide life vests or shallow options for nervous swimmers.

How clean are private dog hiking trails in Burlington Flats compared to public parks?

Significantly cleaner. Public dog parks in Burlington Flats see dozens of dogs daily with sporadic city maintenance. Private dog hiking trails have dedicated hosts who maintain their own spaces—cleanliness directly affects their reviews and bookings. Many Burlington Flats hosts provide fresh poop bags, sanitized water stations, and regular grounds cleaning. With only one booking at a time, waste accumulation is minimal.

Can I book Burlington Flats dog hiking trails on short notice?

Usually yes! Many Burlington Flats dog hiking trails offer same-day or next-day availability with instant booking. Unlike public parks that might be crowded unpredictably, Burlington Flats private dog hiking trails let you reserve exactly when needed: early morning before work, midday breaks, evening exercise. Real-time availability shows on each listing—perfect for last-minute training or when routines get disrupted.

What's the best time to visit dog hiking trails in Burlington Flats?

Any time works since bookings are private! Unlike public dog parks in Burlington Flats that are crowded during peak hours (mornings, evenings, weekends), you don't worry about timing. Book when it fits YOUR schedule—midday when it's quiet, dawn for cool weather, late evening for convenience. Many Burlington Flats dog hiking trails have lighting for after-dark visits. This flexibility is perfect for shift workers or dogs with special needs.

Do Burlington Flats dog hiking trails allow multiple dogs?

Yes! Most Burlington Flats dog hiking trails welcome multiple dogs from the same household. Some hosts set limits (check listings), but generally you can bring your whole pack. This is perfect for multi-dog households in Burlington Flats where some dogs are selective—they can play together privately without outside interference. Great for sibling bonding or families with mixed ages/temperaments.

Can I use Burlington Flats dog hiking trails for special events?

Many Burlington Flats dog hiking trails welcome doggy birthday parties, training workshops, breed meetups, or group playdates. Private bookings mean your event won't be interrupted. Coordinate with Burlington Flats hosts about capacity, amenities (parking, shade, water), and any restrictions. Some even provide party extras. Check individual Burlington Flats dog hiking trail listings for event policies.

How do Burlington Flats dog hiking trails accommodate dogs with special needs?

Burlington Flats dog hiking trails are excellent for special needs dogs because you can filter for specific requirements: flat terrain for mobility issues, secure fencing for blind/deaf dogs, quiet locations for anxious dogs, small spaces for seniors, or maximum privacy for reactive dogs. Read reviews from other Burlington Flats special-needs dog owners, and contact hosts with questions. The private setting means you can adapt the experience to your dog's unique requirements.
