David's 50 Acre "Let Them Run Free" Private Dog Park near Abingdon

Unfenced
50 acres

This spot is 50+ acres of open fields and forest, non-residential, with a mountain stream along the western border, and a 1/4 acre farm pond. There are no pets or livestock on the property, so if your dog likes to run free and fast, this is the place for adventure. There are some trails through the woods, seasonal berry picking, a water hydrant with public water, and shelters with an indoor bathroom if needed. The land also hosts our sawmill and lumber kiln as well as a mechanic shop leased to a friend, but most of the land is open for exploration. There is a gravel/dirt road that loops around the property, but is not recommended for low clearance vehicles. Plenty of parking anywhere along the loop. Squirrels and wild rabbits to chase!

Frequently asked questions about Castlewood dog hiking trails

Where can I find dog hiking trails in Castlewood?

Castlewood has 6 private dog hiking trails available through Sniffspot, offering natural exploration and varied terrain in completely private settings. These locations range from compact spaces to properties spanning 52+ acres. Whether you need a space for your reactive dog, puppy socialization, senior dog gentle exercise, or high-energy play, Castlewood dog hiking trails provide safe, private environments. Filter for "fewer dogs seen/heard," specific amenities, or fencing types to find your perfect match.

How many dog hiking trails are in Castlewood?

Castlewood offers 6 dog hiking trails ranging from compact spaces to properties spanning acres. You'll find diverse options: fully-fenced for escape artists, indoor climate-controlled for year-round use, swimming pools for hot days, agility courses for training, and more. Each Castlewood dog hiking trail listing shows detailed photos, amenities, fencing specs, and reviews from local dog owners.

Are Castlewood dog hiking trails good for all dog types?

Yes! Castlewood dog hiking trails work for every dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer without large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space, and reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. The completely private bookings mean each dog gets the environment they need. Browse Castlewood's 6 options to find spaces matching your dog's specific temperament and needs.

Will I encounter other dogs at Castlewood dog hiking trails?

Not a chance. Castlewood dog hiking trails operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Castlewood owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.

Are Castlewood dog hiking trails safe for fearful or anxious dogs?

Yes! Castlewood dog hiking trails provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. Since bookings are completely private with 30-minute buffers, anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment without overwhelming encounters. Many Castlewood dog owners specifically choose dog hiking trails for fearful dogs who need gentle, stress-free exercise environments.

Can puppies use Castlewood dog hiking trails?

Absolutely! Castlewood dog hiking trails are excellent for puppy socialization because they're private and controlled. Puppies can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment, practice recall, and build confidence without the overwhelming chaos that can create fear or reactivity in young dogs. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting.

How do I choose the best dog hiking trail in Castlewood?

Start by filtering Castlewood's 6 dog hiking trails for your specific needs: secure fencing for escape artists, "fewer dogs seen/heard" for reactive dogs, flat terrain for seniors, appropriate sizing for small dogs, or specific amenities for training. Look for "Top Spots" like Castlewood's Carl's 52 Acre Unfenced Private Dog Park In Kingsport with excellent reviews.Read feedback from other Castlewood owners with similar dog types to find your perfect match.

What are Castlewood's dog hiking trail requirements?

All dogs must have basic vaccinations or titers. Each Castlewood host may have additional rules on their listing. Most dog hiking trails welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit public dog parks. Adult supervision is required at all times.
