TEMPORARY UPDATE: we have temporary closed for some land maintainanence and upkeep. Check back and I will announce a re-opening! If you drop me a message I will provide you with a reopening discount too! 🐾❣️ Hi! 👋 welcome to our spot! Just want to disclaim that we are brand new to this and are trying to navigate what people want most out of a great Sniffspot ☺️ We are making improvements to our spot every day based on guest feedback and making plans for the future as well! We hope you’ll come check us out! Our land is partially wooded, with open spots to run. There is a short roundabout path but the woods you can walk through too (I take my dogs through the woods you just might want to wear tear-resistant clothes). We are working on creating more designated paths now that we’ve seen some interest! **Concerning the cleanliness percentage**: We have wildlife come through a LOT, coyotes especially, so there might randomly be bones and things to be aware of, and a fair share deer poop! We try to let the wild be wild because we love our wildlife and want a nice spot for them too. Otherwise there is lots of good sniffing and running to do. There is some burdock we are working on eliminating slowly (we do not use chemicals). No other real hazards you wouldn’t find on a normal wilderness hike. We do have some stuff by the house but not out on the actual land. **The property has a ‘fence’ so as you explore you can see where our property ends as you walk with no worry of going off our land, but it is not an appropriate fence for containing dogs that need it.**

What people say about dog parks around Durand, Wisconsin

They have truly done an amazing job with this sniffspot. Love the trails. The small fully fenced in area is perfect. We both start and end in there while I'm putting on/taking off their gear. Truly a beautiful spot. My 4 dogs love it. I have 2 puppies and 2 adults (4yr and 7yr). They all equally enjoy being there. The entire spot is not fully fenced in, but this has never been a problem for me. My pups have great recalls, but I have them drag a long line to be safe just in case. The adults tend to follow their noses so they are on 30ft long lines and it's worked out perfectly for us. There is a lot of brush around the fence line so a lot of dogs likely wouldn't go through, but I have a houdini who has practice getting through fences so I do the long lines. One thing for visitors, there's been a lot of construction on Jeffers road this summer. Still easy to access the spot, just pay attention as you may have to take a little detour. I didn't pay attention and had to back track a bit today 🙃

This was our first sniff spot location and we loved it. The directions were easy to follow and the location was great. My girl is a little reactive ans although we did hear the dogs from the kennel - we parked as instructed and there were no issues. We have a long road trip ahead and this was a perfect stop for her to explore freely. Thank you.

On a recommendation for our trainer, my wife and I took our dog, Princess, here so she could run around with no worries. It was a great experience for all of us. The setting is beautiful, in the countryside about 25 miles south of Eau Claire (so it does take a bit of effort to get here). The drive is worth it, though. A large open field, flanked by stands of trees, which gave Princess plenty of room to run and explore. It can be a bit difficult in the snow, although snowmobile tracks create a bit of a groomed trail so we didn't have to wade through the snow to keep up with Princess. The trip accomplished out goal of giving our dog some uninhibited exercise, and she ran herself ragged. We definitely will return and would recommend to anyone who has an active dog who needs some room to romp around and explore.

We had such a great day today at this Sniff Spot. It's our fifth time here; first time in the snow. So pretty and such good exercise for Kya! And the little sleigh is an outstanding setting for photos! I so appreciate that the property is fenced all around.

FAQ about our Durand dog parks

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Durand area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 31 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 8 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
