200 Acre Unfenced Private Dog Park In Farmville

This property is just under 200 acres with 2 ponds, and several creeks running through it. We also have cut 12 miles of 6' wide trails. There is also about a 30 acre field for other training. If your dog has excellent recall you may walk off lead but there is natural wildlife on the property and your dog must be able to recall.

Driving Instructions: When going up drive way stay to right. Continue towards barn. Look for red metal gate. Stop and park at red gate. Please do not drive past gate. Walk through gate. Go any direction from there. But... For most direct trail to creek walk to end of riding arena. On far side of arena there is a double gate. Trail is just past this gate. Follow this trail into woods. Creek is at bottom of hill. Once at creek multiple trails intersect near creek. There is also a trail on other side of creek that will weave back around. Trails are somewhat rugged. Watch for fallen debris from trees, ruts in ground caused by flooding, exposed roots are trip hazards. Watch your step.

Swimming dogs can venture onto the rocks to explore the river. Those who want to exercise can hike up/down the stream, climb big rocks, and other obstacles. This highly wooded area has lots to explore “off path” and on path, so you can never experience everything in one visit. This is heaven for dogs and for those who prefer a challenging exploration vs a standard field or yard to explore. The walk to the creek/springs/watershed is a beautiful, relatively easy walk. This is the site of a forming intentional community. We are making it livable one step at a time. We bought the land cleared and in the meantime, use our 200+ acres to host hip camp, make bike trails and kayak out in areas. Attractions: Enter into one of the main parking areas by the house or keep driving! 1/2 mile down the road is another parking area. Keep going on that road and you’ll see a barn. Then, if you eventually curve to the right as you go down hill you might be able to figure out how to get to the big stream. The stream is sandy creek and that leads to the Banister river, which leads to the Dan. In about the middle of that main stretch, there is a road to the left that will bring you to a pond. I take my foxhound dog here while we hike the trails and work on the land. I found her on the side of the highway and found the owner but he didn’t want her back. I was going through a hard time. I did not intend on getting a dog, let alone a former hunting dog with such active needs! She had a lot of issues to figure out. We are both independent creatures which in the beginning was a source of trouble but now is a source of understanding. This land has been a blessing in us finding our balance. I can’t take her most places and let her off leash because her breed habit is to wander. She needs exercise. She has a need to run. She is so happy when we come here. She knows it means freedom. If it wasn’t for places like this, I would have a very frustrated pup! This place has helped us love each other. I hope you can experience the same!
