North Star Ranch Private Dog Park In Archer
Hello, We would like to welcome our dog friends to our private fully fenced wooded dog park we named The North Star Ranch. The North Star is positioned right over our entrance, and you might see it if you stay at the ranch late. Please bring your own water, snacks, poo bags. Also we have no trash collection, so please take your waste home with you. This is what we do as well. Consider a visit to our ranch a visit to nature that has been fenced in for your dogs’ convenience. And as in all Florida woods, there are some safety concerns you need to be aware of before your reservation. There are more or less visible stumps and vines all over the ranch. There are also some prickly cacti, buckthorn bushes and brambles. Tree logs and trunks have been arranged in some areas as edging for trails. The ranch is a work in progress and we are very slowly cutting prickly plants back to where they aren’t in dogs’ faces, but it’s taking us a while. Long pants and closed toed shoes are very much recommended. We also suggest tick spray if you’re worried about them. We find that in winter time they are rare. Mosquito cream is available during summer months at the gate. We recommend you use it. There is a 20 liter canister of water for dogs available at the picnic table along with a black rubber bowl. There is a back gate at the ranch and we don’t suggest venturing out of, as the back of the property is NOT fenced, and trails are grown over. Please stay in the fenced-in area only for your safety! We hope you and your dog enjoy lots of sniffing while you’re either strolling along or sitting down in one of our picnic areas. There is some agility equipment available at your discretion. Please use it wisely and look out for your pet’s safety first. Wilderness warning! ⚠️ Snakes have been spotted at the ranch several times. Our dogs run through the ranch daily, so wildlife is used to human and canine presence. This was their home before we enclosed it, so we respect their presence and move around them if we spot them. To this date we haven’t had any negative experience with the wildlife, and we surely want to see you stay safe as well. Keep your eyes open if you veer off the main paths, and have some treats in your pocket to help call your dog back to you in case of a snake sighting. The sightings definitely drop off in the colder months. We hope you enjoy our ranch as much us we do! Our dogs absolutely love it and we lovingly nicknamed this place our “sanity ranch”. Enjoy!

Breathe Easy at Old Hawthorn: Private Pond Dog Park
Grand opening Saturday, February 6, 2027. Preview weekends January 23 and 30 for founding guests. Bookings are open now for preview and founding visits. Some places ask you to lower your expectations. This one asks you to lower your shoulders. Breathe Easy at Old Hawthorn is raw Florida land on purpose: a pond under a big sky, tall pines, sandy trails, and grass that smells like grass. No concrete, no crowds, no dog park politics. Just you, your dog, and a whole hour where nobody needs anything from either of you. The setup. Our dog park sits by the lake and pond area of the property. Dogs can run the open ground, work the pine trails on sniff patrol, and cool off in the pond. This is a decompression spot as much as an exercise spot. Reactive dogs, anxious dogs, apartment dogs who have forgotten what dirt feels like, and old dogs who just want a quiet place to wander: all of you are the point. A break from the city and college life. We are an easy drive from Gainesville and the University of Florida, and from Palatka. Trade the apartment complex dog run and the quad for one hour of country quiet. Your dog comes home tired and smelling like the outdoors. You might, too, in the good way. Military family owned, and we mean the welcome. We are a military family. We love our veterans, and we built this spot with you in mind: private bookings only, no strangers, no crowds, no sudden chaos. Just land, water, and room to breathe with your dog(s). Send us a message before you book. We would like to thank you for your service with a discount code. 4WD honesty, up front. Getting here is part of the raw land deal. The access road is unpaved sand and dirt. Trucks, SUVs, and 4WD vehicles: easy. Cars with low clearance: fine in dry weather if you take it slow, but after heavy rain, 4WD or high clearance is strongly recommended. If you are ever unsure, message us before you book and we will tell you exactly what the road looks like that day. We would rather lose a booking than have you stuck. Please read before you book, because this spot is proudly not for every dog: • We are partially fenced. The park area is fenced on the land sides, and the pond and trail sides are open country. This spot is for dogs with reliable recall, or dogs who stay on a long line. It is not the right spot for escape artists or dogs with no recall yet. We say that with love; there is a fully fenced spot in town for them, and this wild one will be here when they are ready. • The pond is a natural Florida pond. That means real nature: lily pads, frogs, and the possibility of Florida wildlife, including alligators and snakes, in or near the water. Check the bank before your dog goes in. If you see an alligator, do not let your dog enter the water, move away, and message us. Supervise your dog in the water at all times. Dogs swim at their handler's judgment and risk, like any Florida lake day. • This is raw land. Expect tall grass in places, sandy soil, mud after rain, and bugs. Flea and tick prevention is a must, and check your dog (and yourself) after your visit. Boots or shoes you do not mind getting dirty are the dress code for humans. At the spot for your visit: • Fresh drinking water and bowls by the gate (pond water is for swimming, clean water is for drinking) • Rinse hose and towels to knock the country off before the ride home • Shaded seating under the pines for the humans • Poop bags and a lidded can at the entrance • Long lines available to borrow for pond and trail exploring • Off-street parking on the property, inside the gate area Come out and breathe easy for a bit. Indulge yourself for a moment. Your dog already knows how.
