Sami's Shangri-La In Lakewood

Our spot is named after our rescue chihuahua, Sami! (Formerly Claire's Oasis) I have a small fully fenced backyard, that will have everything you and your dog will need for a fun & relaxing visit. It's a private oasis for both dogs and humans. There's a good mix of sun and shade from the large mature trees and the patio umbrella. Our yard has many raised beds full of flowers and veggies along with a pollinator garden in the back part of the yard. We are a pesticide free/ organic yard, and I spray Wondercide cedar oil for flea and tick control once a month. Squirrels like to visit our yard, and your dog is welcome to chase them away if they're into that! 🐿️ For the dogs, we will have: a water bowl, waste bags, an elevated cooling dog bed, and a splash pad that connects to the hose available for you to use. You can also use our sprayer hose attachment if "spray me directly in the mouth" is more of your dog's vibe. (Just please turn the water off at the spigot when not using it) For the humans: There are two rattan seats available along with a 6 seater patio set with umbrella. I'll have bug spray, sunblock, hand sanitizer, snacks, and bottled water available. And two towels for drying off. Please feel free to use the bluetooth speaker on the table to play music! We do have a blackberry & raspberry bush in the back of the yard if you'd like to pick a berry treat for your dog. (but please don't pick anything else without asking me first). Please don't let your dog dig in the gardens or the yard, and please throw any garbage and bagged dog waste into the large black trash bin near the garage. There is a chimenea and wood pile available for you to use weather permitting. Used dog water bowls go through our dishwasher in-between guests and I try to keep my yard and the toys as clean as possible. I will be inside but available, if you need anything during your visit!

Private Pond Pooch Paradise

Our property sits 1200+ feet off of the main road and is a total of 28 acres. There are neighboring properties that are 50 acres and 80 acres so no close homes in most directions. We are located approximately 1 mile from West Branch State Park. The property has a clean swimming pond, a walkable forest area with some established trails that are currently covered with leaves. We are a working farm with about 8 acres of crops. There is a large 3 acre wheat field in the front great for ball throwing. The remaining non crop acres are walking paths with some cut grass and yard. We do not have any livestock but our neighbors have cows. There is a secure fence on one side of our property that keeps the cows in their pasture. They’ve never visited us! Neighboring properties are also farms with over 100 acres of open land, woods and crops surrounding our property with no main or visible roads. You can see houses on one side of the property and that’s where the cows live! They have dogs but they’ve never visited us. We do have 2 well behaved German Shorthaired Pointers named River and Remmy who run freely on the property. However we will keep them inside when guests use the property. We have a bench to sit on in a shaded area around the pond for relaxing. The woods are beautiful to walk about as well. There is a large rock in the woods to take a rest on with an amazing ravine creek view. Our property is large and not fenced so dogs with impeccable recall should enjoy the freedom to play, run, swim, sniff and explore. Leashed walks are also welcome. Long leads can also be used. Because we are so far off of any main roads you will feel comfortable here! Your pups are welcome to swim in the pond during your visit. During recent rains our property stays mainly dry and the woods are relatively dry as well as there are many leaves covering the ground. In the winter when the ground is frozen it’s a beautiful walk.

Exactly as listed. Secure private fencing & gate. Little agility course, toys, water bowl & hose, and even left out a complimentary bag of treats and bug spray to use if needed! I was running behind and messaged to ask if I could move the appointment back an hour and they agreed, very accommodating.

Easy to access the yard and water. Great amenities between pup toys, agility equipment, and hammock. It was great to be able to give my energetic puppy an opportunity to run around a bit while we are visiting family who don’t have fenced in yards.

Great yard near the city but still feels private enough with the fence there for my reactive pup to not be focused on other people/animals. It was so great to be able to see him roam around and sniff to his heart’s content!

Big open field with access to wooded area with small stream. There are some bridges in disrepair so be careful around that. Host was also met us upon arrival, was kind and explained property, and left towels to dry the dogs off. Our pups had a blast and we will be back.

William (Brindle Retriever Mix) and Karla (Rhodesian Ridgeback-Shar Pei Mix) had a blast! They ran around chasing each other and played fetch the ball in the large yard. Plus, they had the space to play tug-of war, which is their favorite game. I had never seen William and Karla this happy. It was a pleasure to be able to use this Sniffspot.

The yard size was perfect for my dog to run and play. We liked the shaded area spot in the back. The location is perfect. It was easy to find and quickly access. We recommend for anyone who needs a fenced in yard or outside area for their dogs in a nice friendly neighborhood.

My dog had a great time, and was exhausted all afternoon after leaving. The yard is a great size, and is very clean. If you arrange to also play with the host dog, the pup is a sweetie!

June 2023
Had a great time! Fencing was secure enough that i had no concerns even with my 5lb dog that has squeezed under fences before. Yard clean and well maintained, fresh water and toys were available. The only negative (which is not the fault of host) was a child behind the hosts yard hanging over the fence trying to get dogs attention, even after being asked multiple times to please stop. The dog in that yard also attempted fence fighting. Again, no fault of the hosts, just something to be aware of!

The yard was clean and well taken care of, fresh water was provided and my dogs had a great time. The yard is dryer than other places I've gone, which is a nice benefit and we even went the day after some rain!

Alpesh was an amazing host, communication was A1. He has an amazing space completely fenced in. He had water bowls and poop bags for us. This was my first time using Sniffspot and I plan to be a repeat guest.

February 2023
Alpesh was a great host! He greeted us when we arrived, and he made a wonderful space for our dogs to run around. There were a couple balls that we were able to use for fetch. We forgot a water bowl for the dogs. This would be a great thing to leave outside for your guests in the future Alpesh! Hope to be back soon :)

Are small dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). How do I know if a small dog park works for my dog?
Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your furry friends. If your dog doesn't respond to owner commands, you can visit one of our enclosed dog park areas. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our small dog park sites where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can see any park amenities provided, including a park bench, water for dogs or water features such as kiddie pool or water hose. If your dog loves water, you can go to a park with water features, but if they don't love water, you can avoid them. We also recommend reading reviews to check for park maintenance issues and reaching out to the host with any questions. And lastly, of course, check park hours. Many of our parks are open from dawn until dusk.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot park?
We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that owners sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. We also require that pet owners follow safety protocols around water features.

Can I have an event or party at a small dog park?

Many parks allow doggie birthday parties, training, water parties and other event types. Event organizers need to be responsible for their guests and event organizers should coordinate with the host regarding their fun party. Make sure the park has amenities you need for your party, such as a park with lots of picnic tables with park benches.
