55What a fantastic place for my reactive dog - no stress wondering if we will run into any other people or animals, so much space and so many interesting things to sniff that you don’t get in the city. And most importantly - plenty of sticks. She’s now a very happy and tired dog! We will be sure to come back again soon! Nova M.

55Absolutely beautiful spot, so well thought out and the perfect space to safely exercise and decompress our puppy during that funky teenage stage! Despite taking toys with us, he finds the toys already there to be his favourite ☺️😁Kitty G.

55Wonderful welcoming environment with lots of variety for dogs..a pond, swampy areas with rushes and flaxes perfect for sniffing and large open spaces for my dog to race around. My dog is small (mini dachshund) so can squeeze through the fences so I keep her on my own long line. I do see that the owner also has some available for use. Brigid B.

55We LOVE Sniffari! So nice to have a place where we can romp unleashed and not ever worry that another dog will appear. The sniffari paddock has long grass, bushes, fallen trees, a pond, and occasionally farm animals in adjacent fields, so there is always something to sniff or train. There's even dog poo compost bins and a toilet for the humans! Annie goes above and beyond to accommodate her guests.Jalyn N.

55Every time we visit, you can see the improvements being made. The planting, fencing and mowing really make a difference to how safe it feels to let your dog loose. The facility to deposit your dog’s poop down a compost hole is most welcome too, as we drive quite a way to come here (because it is so special), and we don’t have the smell of it in our vehicle. Our dogs now recognise the place and they get excited as we drive up the hill to get to it. Thanks so much Annie.Tessa C.

55What a lovely spot! Freya is reactive on leash and can get quite aroused by even just seeing another dog. It’s so nice to have a safe space for her to just explore without having to worry about other dogs. The three paddocks are wonderful, we were very pleasantly surprised there’s a duck pond :) Leonie K.

55Love this spot. So much for my little man to run around and sniff and do whatever he pleases. It makes me happy to have this for him, as it's too high risk to let him off leash most other areas.Cat M.

55We didn’t know what to expect as we had never heard of Sniffspot. What we found in terms of a useful space to entertain our dog was brilliant. The different paddock levels made it really interesting for our dog. Many thanksTessa C.

55Congratulations to Annie and Jonty for a great venue. We have two rescued American Staffies 4 and 3 years respectively. For ours we felt a long lead was necessary whilst they familiarised themselves with smells in the space. We will returnMaria K.

Frequently asked questions about Newlands dog parks
Are there dog parks in Newlands for reactive dogs?
Yes! Newlands has 14 private dog parks specifically designed for reactive, anxious, or dog-selective pets. Unlike public dog parks where unexpected encounters can trigger your reactive dog, Sniffspot offers completely private bookings. That means only you and your dogs will be there. We enforce 30-minute buffers between visits so you won't run into other park users when arriving or leaving. This makes Newlands Sniffspots perfect for reactive dogs who need safe off-leash exercise.
How many private dog parks are in Newlands?
Newlands has 14 private Sniffspot locations ranging from cozy backyard spaces to expansive properties spanning 1+ acres. You'll find fully fenced dog parks, small dog parks, and dog fields options, each offering complete privacy during your reserved time. Browse listings to compare sizes, amenities, fencing, and reviews from other Newlands dog owners.
Are Newlands dog parks friendly for all dog types?
Absolutely! Newlands Sniffspot locations work for every type of dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer away from large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space to run, and yes, reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. Because bookings are completely private, you can customize the experience to your dog's specific needs—whether that's careful puppy introductions or stress-free exercise for nervous dogs.
Will there be other dogs at Newlands dog parks?
No, that's what makes Sniffspot different from public dog parks! We only allow one booking at a time, and host dogs must be kept away during your visit. When you book a Newlands dog park, you have the entire space to yourself (plus any dog-owning friends you invite). This privacy is crucial for reactive dogs, puppies in training, or any dog who needs space from other animals.
What makes Newlands dog parks safe for anxious dogs?
Newlands Sniffspot locations provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. There are no aggressive dogs, no inattentive owners, and no unexpected encounters that could traumatize anxious or fearful dogs. All guests must have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars, with many highlighting how safe their reactive or anxious dogs felt.
Can puppies use Newlands dog parks?
Absolutely! Newlands dog parks are ideal for puppy socialization because they provide controlled, distraction-free environments. Puppies can practice recall, build confidence, and explore without the overwhelming chaos of public dog parks. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting any Newlands Sniffspot.
Are Newlands dog parks good for small dogs?
Yes! Many Newlands Sniffspot hosts mark their spaces as "small dog friendly," meaning they're appropriately sized for toy breeds and small dogs. Unlike public dog parks where small dogs risk being overwhelmed or injured by larger breeds, Newlands private bookings give your small dog the entire space to themselves. Look for secure fencing with minimal gaps and hosts who understand petite pup needs.
What are the requirements for Newlands dog parks?
All dogs must have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. Each Newlands host may have additional requirements listed on their booking page. Most welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit traditional public dog parks.
