Smith River Paw Park in Axton, Virginia is a fully-fenced dog park located at 1000 Irisburg Rd. Dog owners are required to keep their dogs on a leash at all times and to carry a leash with them. The perimeter of my property is fenced so you know you’re still on my property. However, it is triple strand so dogs could go through it. We do have chickens and ducks that free roam. We also have other animals that will be contained in the barnyard behind the barn. Drive straight down driveway towards RV. There will be a gate straightahead and another gate to the left. Park anywhere there and use either gate. The gate to the left leads to that big field and the creek runs the length of it. The other gate leads to the back and crosses over the creek. Walk up there just a bit and you will see a path to the left. It goes up to another open field.

Collective Spaces Dog Park In Nathalie

This is the site of a forming intentional community. We are making it livable one step at a time. We bought the land cleared and in the meantime, use our 200+ acres to host hip camp, make bike trails and kayak out in areas. Attractions: Enter into one of the main parking areas by the house or keep driving! 1/2 mile down the road is another parking area. Keep going on that road and you’ll see a barn. Then, if you eventually curve to the right as you go down hill you might be able to figure out how to get to the big stream. The stream is sandy creek and that leads to the Banister river, which leads to the Dan. In about the middle of that main stretch, there is a road to the left that will bring you to a pond. I take my foxhound dog here while we hike the trails and work on the land. I found her on the side of the highway and found the owner but he didn’t want her back. I was going through a hard time. I did not intend on getting a dog, let alone a former hunting dog with such active needs! She had a lot of issues to figure out. We are both independent creatures which in the beginning was a source of trouble but now is a source of understanding. This land has been a blessing in us finding our balance. I can’t take her most places and let her off leash because her breed habit is to wander. She needs exercise. She has a need to run. She is so happy when we come here. She knows it means freedom. If it wasn’t for places like this, I would have a very frustrated pup! This place has helped us love each other. I hope you can experience the same!
