5520 acres with a little bit of hiking to boot, if you want. Wonderful fun time. If you want manicured, level ground this is not for you. But, I personally love that the guys can get out and navigate terrain and follow natural scent trials. There a patio and comfy chairs, water and a beautiful vista. I would come often and early or at sunset. Stellar. The host is fabulous. I love that she introduced herself. Easy to find. Fencing is 5 strand bobwire along the perimeter. The front is unfenced. This is rugged and beautiful and feels so organic. Check it out. River F.

55Just a quiet open space for dogs and folks to explore. Needed a quiet open space for grandson and our new rescue to explore and bond. Only distractions are the neighbors two dogs and the goats, could be perfect for training. Gemma B.

55Really large spot for dogs to roam and sniff about. I’d say about three quarters of the spot is fenced (wire fence). The side along the road is unfenced; however, I think most folks would feel safe letting their dogs off leash. The house (and SniffSpot parking) is set so far back on the property that there is so much space between the road and parking, plus I think we saw four cars during our hour there (it’s a really rural area). Nice little creek for my boy to enjoy. There is also a fully enclosed area on the property if folks want something totally enclosed, but little dogs could get out. There are neighbor dogs that were tied up or in an enclosed area and they were barking consistently. This did allow for some training opportunities because there’s a lot of space you can put between you and the other dogs. We really enjoyed our time here. I did not notice if there was water available because we always bring our own. Leah came out to orient us to the property and was very friendly. We’ll be back!Melissa M.

55Our dogs loved running and playing in the stream. We even got to reinforce recall when a jackrabbit took off! Our only issue was we had a hard time figuring out if we were at the right spot. We couldn't find the house number or a snifspot sign. I had to pull up pictures on snifspot to verify we were at the right spot :)Shannon L.

55Miso had the best time here! We were prepared to get muddy and he had a blast exploring the property and sniffing all over. There was tons of space and a nice creek he enjoyed romping through. Definitely will be back with some doggie friends soon! Nonie R.

55I brought my German shepherd, Charlie, to Leah's sniff spot and we had a great time! When we parked in the driveway, Leah came out to say hello and introduce me to the area. The property is 20 acres, fenced on all sides except the front of the property along the road. Since it's a private road in a rural area and the property was so large, I didn't feel too concerned about my dog escaping or getting into the road (there were very few cars that passed by anyway). There is a smaller completely fenced area, I think she said 3 acres, for those who want a completely enclosed space. The neighbors on one side had barking dogs, but they were in an enclosed area so I wasn't worried about my dog "fence fighting" or chasing the dogs along the fence. My dog doesn't have great recall so I was worried about losing sight of him, but Leah assured me that the property is quite visible from all angles, which I found to be true. There was a nice little creek that Charlie enjoyed splashing around in, and varied topography for fun and interesting exploration (rather than just a large flat area for running). There were a few wet spots, but most of the area was not muddy. Overall, it was a lovely space, and a great way to spend a sunny day! We will be back :)Mickie T.

55Leah was a terrific gracious host, offering a lovely setting for our first sniff spot experience. I chose to use the fenced in area initially to bleed off some energy since I wasn't sure of my foster dog’s recall capacity until I got a feel for the property. Three of my shepherds easily navigated out of the fenced area by stepping through the horizontal fence wires once they explored the fenced area which is quite large on a nice hill. The overall property is amazing, offering lots of smells to investigate and my dogs truly enjoyed themselves. As noted on other reviews, there are dogs on the adjoining property but far enough that my dog reactive shepherd wasn't triggered. We’ll be back to explore more. Eileen P.

55This place is amazing! My dogs loved it. Easy to find, Leah was super nice and gave us the quick run down of the property which was easy to navigate. There’s a slight incline to tire the dogs out even more than if it was completely flats. We will definitely be back oftenStephanie P.

55A huge open space for the dogs to run, explore and enjoy. Leah was a wonderful host and came out to greet us and give information about the property and fence line. There are dogs on the neighboring property but Leah told me about them, and they were far away enough to not bother my dogs. My dogs had an awesome time and were happy and tired afterwards. Thank you, Leah!Jess C.

55This is an amazing place to go because of how big it is, the differing terrain and it’s peaceful vibe. But not for the faint of heart. It’s true rural. So Fall and winter are optimal. But God is it beautiful. Thanks Leah. Love that you’re still having us come out. River F.

55Great field area for dogs to fun around and the property owner (Leah) is very friendly and nice. My mini-Aussies had fun until my small one (16”) decided to check out the big dog that was tied up and barking in the adjacent property. She slipped under a spot where the ground is a bit lower than the fence. The fence is definitely adequate for medium-larger dogs but if you have a smaller one that is not very good on recall when it comes to dogs, cats, and squirrels 😑 I don’t recommend. The neighbor dog barked but did not appear aggressive at all, so everything was fine and after about 5 minutes mine came back to me and I pulled her back under the fence. Other than that incident, lol, we had a good time.Debra M.

FAQ about our Shingle Springs dog fields
Are dog fields safe?
If you are looking for an adventure, but also looking for safety, Sniffspot dog fields are a great option. While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, distracted dog owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private space for just you and doggy friends you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). Especially for training, privacy is ideal. Contrary to public dog parks, all Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog for off leash exercise or outdoor training. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars, while public dog parks often do not even have verified reviews. All payment is done securely online by credit card in a few simple clicks.
All park rental information is available online. Start by filtering parks by fencing, size and distractions, to find a private spot that works for your dog. If your dog has poor recall, you can visit one of our secure fields. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog fields where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can review the details of the listing to make sure it works as your desired activity space, for example, safe dog exercise, dog training, a stress-free adventure with your furry friend or even a puppy event. You can even check the park amenities chart for amenities such as indoor training facilities, agility field, synthetic turf, exercise balls or field parking availability in advance. If inclement weather is an issue or poor field conditions, you can reschedule your visit up to 2 hours in advance.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog field?
We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?
No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
