Clare Swanger

Clare Swanger's lifelong love of animals, commitment to enhance their lives, and search for solutions to her own dogs' issues led her to the world of force-free professional dog behavior and training. Clare's dog Lindsey provided the catalyst. He was wonderful in every way Рexcept for leash pulling! Clare's search for a gentle, effective approach that respected Lindsey and their bond led her to the Tellington TTouch® Method of Training. Clare completed the two-year certification program in 2007 and was promoted to Senior Practitioner in 2015. Clare's wholistic approach incorporates force-free, fear-free, pain-free techniques; neuroscience; innovative best practices; and more. At the core of her philosophy are respect for each animal as an individual and the central importance of the human/animal relationship. Clare works in person or online with private clients and for teaching classes/workshops. She also travels-to-train throughout the U.S. and Europe. In Missouri and Idaho she taught staff and volunteers at animal shelters and was hired to work with special needs dogs. Clare is available to consult with, coach and teach at shelter/rescues, veterinary hospitals and professional dog-training programs. In 2021 Clare presented "Tellington TTouch: Techniques for the Toolbox" at the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) Virtual Conference. In 2019, she taught a one-day workshop and presented at APDT's U.S. National Conference in Portland, Oregon. She is a member of the Tellington TTouch® Guild and the Pet Professional Guild. She is also a member by invitation of the International Women's Forum, an organization with 7,000+ members in 33 nations that builds better leadership across careers, continents and cultures. Clare holds a B.A. from Yale cum laude and an MBA from Stanford. She lives in Ketchum, Idaho.
