Valley Dogs Rescue

Valley Dogs Rescue has a thorough adoption process to make sure our dogs are placed in the best possible home. Generally, the process will follow the steps outlined below. 1. There are two ways to complete the adoption form. You can complete the online application or download and complete an adoption form and email it to [email protected] or to the contact listed in the pet description. 2. Your application will be reviewed to see if you are good match for the dog you are interested in. 3. We'll set up a meet and greet for you and your perspective new best friend. 4. If that goes well, we'll arrange a home visit where your Adoption Consultant will bring the dog to your home. The main purpose of this visit is to be sure: • Your home and yard are safe and secure • The dog is a good fit for all members of the household • The dog interacts well with all other pets in the home 5. Once the home visit is complete, Valley Dogs Rescue will decide which home is the best fit for the dog. Some dogs have many people interested in them and we will make a decision based on the best interests of the dog and the household. It can be one of the hardest things we have to do. 6. If you are selected, we will arrange for you to begin a 2-4 week Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) period. If for any reason you are unsure about the dog becoming a permanent part of your family, let us know and we'll take the dog back into our care. This happens from time time and it's okay. We simply want what's best for the dog. We'll collect the adoption fee at this time but we won't deposit it until the FTA period is completed. 7. After the two week FTA period ends and everyone is happy, you are officially the owner of the dog! We'll set up a Finalization Meeting where we'll give you copies of all medical records, microchip information and adoption forms. Congratulations! 8. Valley Dogs Rescue is here for you after the adoption process as well. We can help with training tips, nutrition or any other questions that come up. If for any reason you need to surrender your dog, please contact us before you give up your dog! We'll make every effort to help to find a new home for your dog.
