Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat | 5-Acre Nature Escape

Welcome to Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat -- a peaceful 5-acre nature escape in south Maplewood near Battle Creek, just minutes from I-94 & McKnight. This is still undeveloped farmland, roughly the size of a city block, tucked into the suburbs, with rolling hills, mature trees, wooded trails, open field space, wildlife scents (ton of bunnies!), and a very different feel from a typical backyard spot. Dogs get room to run, sniff, explore, and decompress away from crowded dog parks, while hoomans can relax in the shade or bring family for a picnic. For history buffs, the property also has the only standing barn in Maplewood, built in 1896 and still in use. QUICK 30-MIN VISITS are great for pups who just need to burn energy, stretch their legs, or take a potty break. The main fenced play area is approx. 60 x 100 ft, with room for off-leash play, fetch, zoomies, a 7-ft spring pole, and the NEW Pup Parkour Platform for climbing, balancing, confidence-building, and play. Lots of balls, frisbees, tug ropes, and poop bags available. Water play includes a popular splash pad, bathing sprayer with doggie shampoo, and a fancy lawn sprinkler with settings for pups who love “eating water” lol! Parking is right next to the gate, with shaded seating and a hammock for the hoomans too -- sometimes suspiciously comfortable. Please remember, you did bring a dog ;) For 30-min visits, please use the fenced area only. The spot is largely SELF-SERVE. Water play should be on and ready when you arrive; please turn ALL water off when it’s not being used and before you leave, since I may not always be home to monitor it. I may or may not come out to say hi depending on my work schedule, so don’t wait for me -- just come in and enjoy your visit. I keep app notifications on and am good about responding, so message me anytime if you have a question or need something. For the FULL MAPLEWOOD FARM EXPERIENCE, I recommend booking 1–2 hours. Explore the fenced area, then head through the back gate for a slower long-leash walk through the wooded trails, around the barn and house, and toward the open field. There are also a couple trolley lines for semi-free roaming; the longer one runs over a road trail. Trolley attachments may be at either end of the line, so check both ends if you don’t see one right away. Signs and a property map in the photos help guide you, but feel free to explore and take whatever route suits you. My pups stay inside during reservations. Occasionally, I may be working in a designated area between the house and barn, mostly out of sight. Any active work area will be coned off -- just give it a little space. This is a natural, dog-friendly space with a manicured feel -- part private dog park, part little nature retreat. Dogs are welcome to explore, climb on logs and wood-chip piles, sniff around, chew or pull on branches, and dig -- even inside the fenced area. I’m not precious about the landscape here, esp since the property may be developed next year. While it’s still here, I want our furry friends to have it and enjoy it. Foster dogs and dogs with physical or sensory challenges are welcome for a steep discount. The spot is open pretty much anytime from early morning to midnight, so you can book around your dog’s energy, the weather, or your own schedule. LED night lights make evening visits easy, and nighttime can be much cooler for pups on hot days. Bug spray available. Supervised campfire use available -- privately message me. As a dog lover and builder, I pay attention to how pups actually use the space and keep adding small improvements and enrichment features as I go. The newest addition is the Pup Parkour Platform -- strongly built from logs and sawn lumber, with ramps, balance beams, climbing surfaces, and colorful stepping stumps for pups of different sizes and confidence levels. Rice Creek Sniffspot

NOTE: we will be cleaning and storing away the agility equipment for the winter season starting in September. The agility equipment displayed are only available during the summer months. A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end. Please do not park in the driveway. Enter the yard using the gate located to the left of the garage.

Great spot with room to run, toys, some agility equipment, and seasonal plastic fur kid pool! Fully fenced: 1 side privacy fence, 2 sides chain link, and one side with the house and gate. Added FYIs: - Place bagged poop in the small garbage bin. 🗑️💩 - Please do not allow pups to dig or to enter the small separately fenced garden. 🌱🪏 - If you remember, it helps to throw "fetch" in lots of different directions to spread out the "wear and tear." IF something goes over the fence, do please just let us know (we will contact the neighbor)--**do not** physically step over the fence (it causes fence damage) 🏡 🤳🏻 - "Same day" bookings will probably have the bedtime and morning 💩 from my pups since I routinely only pick up after work during warm months. If you book 24+ hours in advance I can squeeze in an extra poo pickup before work. - *WINTER I pick up weekly, weather-permitting, so might NOT be a great spot for pups who eat poopsicles--you know who you are! 💩 ❄️ 🐶 🍨🍦 limited daylight and full time hospital work hours (I go to work and come home in the dark)

5/15/26 update: All paths are mowed, field entrance to drive in is now available (unless heavy rain, then their may be orange cones in the drive) In that case PARK only at the barn/field entrance and walk in. Traffic - To the spot the drive has no major road work slowing you down but LEAVING through Hudson can have long back ups. Please check your maps for delays or other routes. ***Also, it is tick season, do check your dog! This is a beautiful piece of land with a (mostly) fenced perimeter and 1/3 acre fully fenced doggy play area. If you drive in by the picnic table you are in the center of 18 acres to play on and will be quite a distance from the road. There are mowed walking paths to the beautiful Kinnickinnic river, far away from other people and animals. You and your dog will both love it here! The river is cold, clean and easy for dogs to hop in and out, also humans but a bit muddy at the easiest entrance. If you want to keep them out of the water there is about 10 acres of open field where you park, separate and above the river so you don't need to have them down by the water at all. (although most dogs gravitate to there!) Good idea to bring towels although some dogs dry off by the time they run back to the car! We love sharing the space, thank you for review pics!

Fenced in Yard In Richfield

A nice big backyard, in a moderately quiet corner of Richfield. Plenty of room for some zoomies or fetch or using the DIY agility equipment We’re near to the airport, two preschools, apartments, and Target. The privacy fence blocks most of the visuals, but it can get a bit noisy with kids playing and planes overhead. There’s a couple neighborhood dogs, a few bark from inside their homes. We have a resident cat who will occasionally snooze in the window sill. ⚠️ the neighbor dog is occasionally an escape artist and will wander over from across the street to sniff the green space next to our yard. If your pup is dog reactive, this might not be the spot for you. 💧 seasonal update: bring your own water. The hose is stored away for the winter.
