55Great visit as always! Melon loves that we always see (or at least she always smells) a deer or two or more. Makes for a fun sniff adventure!Monni B.

55It was lovely to be back at one of our favourite sniffspots! It's unfenced so if your dog is like mine and may do a runner after triggers, keep them on a long leash and enjoy! Now that the creek is dried up, we spent a lot of time sniffing the creek bed.Monni B.

55This is a nice little plot that held plenty of interest for my pups as well as ample room for long range zoomies! The owner was friendly and responsive! If your dog has good recall, it is a great place to let them stretch their legs! I'll definitely be back! Amie C.

55What a great space so close to downtown! Easy to get to, directions were very clear, and the dogs loved exploring (and I loved being able to work on our recall)! Thanks for sharing your amazing space! Allie K.

55A little bit of country in the city. Right at Moeller & 46th, so there is quite a bit of traffic, but a great spot just 8 minutes from home. There's a poop station with bags, hand sanitizer, a Chuck-it with a ball& a creek at the back of the property. (You may want to bring your own tennis ball, or a few. Lots of tall vegetation & they could easily get lost.) My girls love being off leash & able to wander, as you can see in my pics. If your pup doesn't have good recall, you may not want to let them loose. Great spot for a quick sniff enrichment, we will definitely be back. Thanks, Christy!Julie H.

55We had a little trouble finding the gate, but I blame that on my gps being wonky. Host was very helpful in my "I can't find it" chat!

55It's been too long since our last visit and we were very happy to finally be back. The sniffs appeared to be epic, we also got some training in. If you have a dog with not very tried and tested off leash manners, like my Melon, stick a long line on them and let them sniff! This spot makes for a nice stress free relaxing walk in a beautiful field.Monni B.

55Easy to find from the directions on here (google maps tried to send me across the street). Swiss loved sniffing around, I enjoyed watching the birds and strolling. A neighbor’s dog was visible and barking across the creek but it didn’t disrupt us too much. Love the area, can’t wait to come back.Jack S.

55Lots of things to sniff. Fergus had a great time. You do need to have a dog with good recall it's pretty close to the road. This isn't a problem for us, so Fergus had fun running around.Jennifer I.

55While this was probably weatherwise our dreariest visit to this sniffspot, we had an absolute blast! That was probably the most fun Melon ever had here (and we love this field!). For about 45 minutes she just followed all the smells and trails and for most of the time I only saw her rear end sticking out of vegetation. She will sleep well tonight! I would give ten stars today if that was an option!Monni B.

55Nice big open "old field" with mowed trails in Indianapolis. My pup was on a long leash the whole time and had fun exploring. The host provided sunscreen and bug spray at the parking spot. There is a lot of poison ivy on the edge of the property near the creek, but that is part of living in Indiana. The creekbed was dry, but it is the beginning of September. I am sure it has more water in the spring. 46th street is busy as they say. I got some jam and it is quite good, I recommend it! Megan M.

Frequently asked questions about Indianapolis dog hiking trails
Why are private dog hiking trails better than public dog parks in Indianapolis?
Private dog hiking trails in Indianapolis eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Indianapolis's 12 private dog hiking trails offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.
How safe are Indianapolis dog hiking trails compared to public dog parks?
Indianapolis dog hiking trails are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Indianapolis dog hiking trails eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.
Are Indianapolis dog hiking trails safe for reactive dogs?
Indianapolis owners of reactive dogs choose dog hiking trails because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy natural exploration and varied terrain while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Indianapolis reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.
Can anxious dogs safely use Indianapolis dog hiking trails?
Yes! Indianapolis dog hiking trails provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment at their own pace without stress. Many Indianapolis dog hiking trails offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.
Are Indianapolis dog hiking trails good for small dogs?
Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Indianapolis dog hiking trails because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Indianapolis avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog hiking trails eliminate that worry. Filter for appropriate sizing, secure fencing with no gaps, and hosts who understand petite pup needs.
Do Indianapolis dog hiking trails work for senior dogs?
Yes! Senior dogs thrive at Indianapolis dog hiking trails because they can move at their own pace without being knocked over by rambunctious puppies or young dogs. Look for Indianapolis dog hiking trails with flat terrain, easy access, shade, and smaller sizes if your senior has mobility limitations. The privacy means your older dog can rest when needed and enjoy gentle exercise without stress.
What do Indianapolis dog owners say about dog hiking trails?
Reviews of Indianapolis dog hiking trails consistently highlight: excellent privacy for all dog types, secure fencing that prevented escapes, clean and well-maintained spaces, responsive hosts, and safe environments for anxious, fearful, reactive, senior, and small dogs. Local favorite Bonny's 10 Acre Partially Fenced Private Dog Park In Brownsburg is particularly praised in Indianapolis.
