David's 50 Acre "Let Them Run Free" Private Dog Park near Abingdon

Unfenced
50 acres

This spot is 50+ acres of open fields and forest, non-residential, with a mountain stream along the western border, and a 1/4 acre farm pond. There are no pets or livestock on the property, so if your dog likes to run free and fast, this is the place for adventure. There are some trails through the woods, seasonal berry picking, a water hydrant with public water, and shelters with an indoor bathroom if needed. The land also hosts our sawmill and lumber kiln as well as a mechanic shop leased to a friend, but most of the land is open for exploration. There is a gravel/dirt road that loops around the property, but is not recommended for low clearance vehicles. Plenty of parking anywhere along the loop. Squirrels and wild rabbits to chase!

Slys Peace Trail

Partially Fenced
10 acres

Located in the foothills, the Slys Peace trail was created for dog stimulation. The trail starts at the lower end of the pasture and follows the creek meandering through a rhododendron forest. Situated at the base of 100 acres of wooded ridge land, the hike offers a wilderness experience customized to your comfort zone. There are multiple trails to accommodate your level of exercise. The full experience will require crossing the creek multiple times and is recommended for those with hiking experience. Trails are easy to follow with multiple exits that lead out to the pasture. This is dog heaven. Let your dog be a dog. To locate the gate entrance watch for the Giant metal horse. His nose points the way. Follow the fenceline a few hundred feet where you will find the gate just before the power line easement. There is now a large Sniff Spot sign securely attached.

Frequently asked questions about Marion dog water parks

Why are private dog water parks better than public dog parks in Marion?

Private dog water parks in Marion eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Marion's 5 private dog water parks offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.

How safe are Marion dog water parks compared to public dog parks?

Marion dog water parks are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Marion dog water parks eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.

Are Marion dog water parks safe for reactive dogs?

Marion owners of reactive dogs choose dog water parks because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy swimming and water play while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Marion reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.

Can anxious dogs safely use Marion dog water parks?

Yes! Marion dog water parks provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a facility featuring pools, splash pads, or water play areas specifically designed for dogs to swim and cool off at their own pace without stress. Many Marion dog water parks offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.

Are Marion dog water parks good for small dogs?

Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Marion dog water parks because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Marion avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog water parks eliminate that worry. Filter for appropriate sizing, secure fencing with no gaps, and hosts who understand petite pup needs.

Do Marion dog water parks work for senior dogs?

Yes! Senior dogs thrive at Marion dog water parks because they can move at their own pace without being knocked over by rambunctious puppies or young dogs. Look for Marion dog water parks with flat terrain, easy access, shade, and smaller sizes if your senior has mobility limitations. The privacy means your older dog can rest when needed and enjoy gentle exercise without stress.

What do Marion dog owners say about dog water parks?

Reviews of Marion dog water parks consistently highlight: excellent privacy for all dog types, secure fencing that prevented escapes, clean and well-maintained spaces, responsive hosts, and safe environments for anxious, fearful, reactive, senior, and small dogs. Local favorite David's 50 Acre "Let Them Run Free" Private Dog Park near Abingdon is particularly praised in Marion. Read reviews to see real experiences from Marion dog owners with similar needs.
