The Gulch Lake

Unfenced
100 acres

The ultimate dog escape! A certified organic ranch and dreamy lake surrounded by rolling hills! Your dogs can experience wild foul, fish and cattle or spend their time time swimming away at the lake! There is a picnic table (not in the best shape, but can fit about 4 people) for your stuff and a great combination of sun and shade surrounding the lake! We recently added a 1.2 mile trail around our property. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Accessing our lake requires a bit of a walk through uneven terrain with cow holes, which may be challenging for some. If you have difficulty walking on rough ground, this Sniffspot may not be the best fit. While there is a path, it is not perfectly smooth, and less active visitors may find it hard to navigate. Cows do roam freely in the same field. They are harmless, but please be sure to close all gates securely when entering or leaving the area. We recommend ignoring the cows—they’ll leave you alone if you do the same. Our house is the only house on the right side of the road. Please do not stop/disturb the first houses on the left side of the driveway. Keep coming down our driveway and park near the light blue green house on the right. If you’re wondering if we test for toxic blue green algae, the answer is yes! The test was negative! Please see our pictures for confirmation of a negative test! Test performed on 6/1/25

Frequently asked questions about Moss Beach dog hiking trails

Why are private dog hiking trails better than public dog parks in Moss Beach?

Private dog hiking trails in Moss Beach eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Moss Beach's 3 private dog hiking trails offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.

How safe are Moss Beach dog hiking trails compared to public dog parks?

Moss Beach dog hiking trails are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Moss Beach dog hiking trails eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.

Are Moss Beach dog hiking trails safe for reactive dogs?

Moss Beach owners of reactive dogs choose dog hiking trails because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy natural exploration and varied terrain while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Moss Beach reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.

Can anxious dogs safely use Moss Beach dog hiking trails?

Yes! Moss Beach dog hiking trails provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment at their own pace without stress. Many Moss Beach dog hiking trails offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.

Are Moss Beach dog hiking trails good for small dogs?

Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Moss Beach dog hiking trails because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Moss Beach avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog hiking trails eliminate that worry. Filter for appropriate sizing, secure fencing with no gaps, and hosts who understand petite pup needs.

Do Moss Beach dog hiking trails work for senior dogs?

Yes! Senior dogs thrive at Moss Beach dog hiking trails because they can move at their own pace without being knocked over by rambunctious puppies or young dogs. Look for Moss Beach dog hiking trails with flat terrain, easy access, shade, and smaller sizes if your senior has mobility limitations. The privacy means your older dog can rest when needed and enjoy gentle exercise without stress.

What do Moss Beach dog owners say about dog hiking trails?

Reviews of Moss Beach dog hiking trails consistently highlight: excellent privacy for all dog types, secure fencing that prevented escapes, clean and well-maintained spaces, responsive hosts, and safe environments for anxious, fearful, reactive, senior, and small dogs. Local favorite The Gulch Lake is particularly praised in Moss Beach. Read reviews to see real experiences from Moss Beach dog owners with similar needs.
