despite the small-medium size organization, Barky Pines saves many animals from the county shelter. Opened a clinic two years ago and dedicates low cost veterinary care which is very much needed in the area. Takes time to find a perfect adopter, very personal method and successful adoption rate is high. I fostered two special need dogs for a while then adopted them. Through out the fostering period and after adoption, they were extremely supportive. Great feeling that I can count on them anytime for my dogs. As a volunteer, as a foster and as an adopter, I am a big fan and supporter of Barky Pines.

OC Poundhounds, originally headquartered in Orange County, CA has relocated the majority of its organization to the SW Washingon State area to offer a Sanctuary and Hospice option to our rescue. We still have a small presence in Orange County, CA for our remaining dedicated Board Member and Volunteers to offer a foster-home based rescue option for Pomeranian’s, Papillions & Toy Hairless breeds (Chinese Crested, Peruvian Inca Orchids (PIO’s) and Xolo’s (Mexican hairless) dogs, and mixes thereof, that have been placed on the euthanasia lists in the local LA and Inland Empire high-kill shelters, from commercial breeding operations, and if we are able to consider taking in, Owner Surrendered dogs. We are NOT a shelter. The dogs we have available for adoption are in private homes of compassionate, local dog lovers who have opened up their homes (and hearts) to our rescued dogs until they find their furever home. Our SW Washington location is called One Last Good Home Dog Sanctuary & Hospice is for senior dogs with limited life expectancy, and hospice so they can experience some love and comfort until their has come to cross the Rainbow Bridge, where we stay with them to assist them on their journey. Our experienced Volunteers have an extensive background in dog behaviour training, as well as veterinary experience. This assists the organization identify, evaluate and rescue dogs that have the best opportunity to be successfully placed in forever homes within the Southern California community, or can be comfortable in a Sanctuary / Hospice situation. We are totally donation driven, with no paid members. All donations go towards the dog’s veterinary needs while in our care. We are licensed in California, Washington State and the IRS as a recognized 501(c)3 approved Non-Profit rescue organization, operating since 2008, and are proudly listed on GuideStar.org. We have been in dog rescue in Southern California since 2005, and in dog and cat rescue since 1986, with our funds being derived 100% from the general and adoption donation fees we ask for an OCPoundHound at the time of adoption. This is directed 100% back in to continuing our rescue work and the related veterinary care needed by the dogs we rescue. This allows us to continue our mission, and motto of “Making A Difference, One Dog At A Time”.

ABQ Chihuahua Rescue provides safe homes and health care for stray, abandoned, and abused companion Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes, and education for the general public regarding the responsibilities of ownership and the humane treatment of companion dogs. Presently these services are provided in the county of Bernalillo in the state of New Mexico. ABQ Chihuahua Rescue provides the state of New Mexico with the valuable service of providing homes for dogs without homes. Revenues to support are inadequate to meet the state's needs in caring for abandoned dogs. Resources to accommodate the needs of abandoned dogs are often decreased to meet the "human" need. Unfortunately, when dogs are dumped in the vast landscape for financial resources, New Mexico cannot meet the situation. In Bernalillo County, there are only a handful of animal control officers to patrol a very large metropolitan area. Bernalillo is one of the most populated counties in New Mexico. It is surrounded by Indian reservations that are also drastically short of funding for abandoned dogs. Spay, neuter and vaccination laws are infrequently or selectively enforced and in the southwest, there is a value placed upon an individual's freedom to roam in wide-open spaces. Unfortunately, humans often provide the same rights to their pets, who cannot protect themselves. As a result, dogs are often lost, killed, and forgotten. There are countless reasons for these dogs to be abandoned. Age, Health, Pregnancy, and Disease are only a few reasons that these dogs find themselves under the ABQ Chihuahua Rescue's care. ABQ Chihuahua Rescue, Inc is a small but effective non-profit organization. Since its formation, the organization has helped numerous dogs through New Mexico. Its primary function has been to care for these homeless dogs and to find them a furever home.

This foster based rescue was started by two women out of Eugene Oregon, brought together by a common tragedy, the loss of a child and for our love of pit-bulls. Helping animals was our way of healing our broken hearts. Melissa McCall and Whitney Wilmarth pulled together and established, Unbreakabull Rescue Allies in March of 2020. It was just before the Pandemic began, and we still hit the ground running. With the money out of our pockets we got our business set up and our non profit status secured. We took in our first dog just 2 short days after opening. We grew very fast, not only in the number of intakes and adoptions, but also in the number of volunteers and fosters. Although Whitney is no longer a Co director/owner of the rescue, she is still a big part of why and how we started. She still supports us as we do her as well. She is focusing her time more on her family now, while her children are still young, and we support this 100%. We have a small BUT mighty team, and together we are UNSTOPPABULL AND UNBREAKABULL! Our entire team is amazing and we could not function without them. We not only help animals in need but we also help our community members. We have funded dozens of spay and neuters to our low income community members. We have also provided funding to our community for emergency vet appts, surgeries as a result of injuries, dental care, vaccines, food and microchipping. All at no cost. This is partially what adoption fees go towards, along with our other medical dogs, and all our current/long term dog’s needs. We hope to be able to continue our efforts, with enough support from our community.
