55We had another wonderful time at the Easter Egg hunt!! 🐰🐥💐 Thank you again to Bryna for creating such a fun event for the community. It seemed like Wilco remembered doing this from last year, and had a blast today checking under every obstacle for more toys and treats. Thank you so much!! 💖Carolyn L.

55I went for the first time. I drove an hour and a half to get there. Unfortunately I had to leave after around 30 mins in because I had to visit family for Easter but It was a great experience. The set up was amazing. There are many obstacles for agility training. I’ve never done that type of training with my two German Shepards but it’s a perfect place for people who do. They had a hose and water bowl for the dogs and a little station for snacks and water for us and the dogs. The Easter egg hunt was so cute. They were scattered around and one of my dogs was very happy to find them. They included toys for the dogs and treats in the eggs. My dogs were very happy to have new toys especially the squeaky toys. They even included an option to swap out toys you got in the eggs which I did because my dogs love the squeaky toys more. I wanted to go out and do something different for my dogs on Easter and this was a great experience. Olivia H.

55This is a great location! Very accessible on a side road off a main road. The space was clean and neat with plenty of room to run and try out the activities. And some fun amenities for the pup as well! Instructions were clear and communication was timely. Thank you!! Julia S.

55This is by far the best Sniffspot I’ve visited. We drove from Providence and it was well worth it. It was clean and the hosts thought of everything (lots of toys, snacks for humans, water bottles and bowls, extra doggie bags, etc). My boys had sooo much fun! Will def be back Thalia L.

55Such a cute and sweet spot. This was only my second ‘Sniff’ use, but the park gives a great idea of possibilities for those seeking to open a spot themselves. These gracious hosts have actually decorated their spot with much dog-positive content, and have great ‘amenities’ (poop bags, chairs, tennis balls, an elevated resting spot- even mini-snacks for humans!). And that is in addition to the super fun agility challenges.
It is not a huge lot, and— as noted— there are other neighborhood dogs nearby/ being walked outside the fencing along the street. I just distracted my pup briefly to avoid my pet’s barkfest. But plenty of room for her to have an excited case of zoomies. Note: for those visiting from afar and/or hoping to also get Fido a massive run, this Sniff Spot is not far from the free Groton Town very large Copp Dog Park. (Has large fenced area & trails. No fun features like this place though, so just a totally different experience, but maybe complementary. My dog was too tired for that idea- so if you try, do the K9 park first!)
In closing, we’ll be back— just with WAY more tiny treats to help guide my dog through the ‘tricks’.Michelle M.

55My dogs had a blast! The size and set up of the space was perfect. Was fun for my pups to test out all the agility equipment. Nowhere they could go in the fenced in area where you couldn’t see them at all times. Nice seating for owners to relax while they get their energy out. Will definitely be bringing them back in the nicer weather to come. Jessie F.

55Carlson was very accommodating for my last-minute request to visit. He even made sure to put out water and towels, as the ground was still a little damp from the recent rain. The yard was entirely secure; any gaps under the fence were blocked off with wood or cinderblocks. My dogs saw a few people and dogs walking by; they barked, but due to the structure of the fence, couldn’t see them very well. I wasn’t worried they would get out. The size of the yard was as expected and there were multiple toys out for my dogs to play with. Carlson even has a dog house and dog bed for use on the porch! An added bonus is all the wonderful restaurants and shops in Mystic just down the road that we stopped by after our trip. Lyndsay W.

55A quaint, mostly grassy, well-fenced yard with a bit of a water view, plus several toys (and a few toddler/K-3 type play items too)— it further has a shed and corner patch of pine trees with a path around back for those dogs that seem to like a bit of a place ‘to hide’ or get away (or where they think they’re not seen anyway, lol). We’ll come back. Michelle M.

FAQ about our Groton dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Groton area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 76 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 12 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
