Rovers Retreat's 50 Acre Mostly Fenced Private Dog Park In Spring Hill

Partially Fenced
50 acres

**WELCOME TO ROVERS RETREAT** Hi! My name is Lea, and my family and I have been fortunate to call this beautiful piece of land home for the past eight years. My grandmother gave the property to us before she passed away in 2020 at the age of 99, and this land has always been very special to our family. I grew up spending time here with my Memama, helping her milk the goats and riding my horse, Beauty. Today, my husband and I live here with our daughter and our three dogs. We are not farmers yet, but we love the peaceful, natural character of the land and all the memories tied to it. Before we built our home here, we used to bring our own dogs out to run, dig, explore, chase critters, and simply get all of their energy out. They absolutely loved it. Now we want to share that same experience with other dogs and their people. Rovers Retreat is approximately 50 acres of beautiful, private, raw Tennessee land where dogs can have the space to simply be dogs. **ABOUT THE PROPERTY** This is raw, natural land, not a manicured dog park. You will find large open fields, hills, native vegetation, and plenty of room to walk, explore, play ball or Frisbee, or simply relax with your dog. Please look at the property map included in our listing photos before your visit. It will help you understand the areas available for exploring and the few areas we ask guests to avoid. When you enter the property, we prefer that guests explore the fields on the right side of the driveway first. During parts of the summer, hay may be growing in some of the fields. We provide hay for cattle on a neighboring property, so when hay is growing, we will keep a mowed walking path through the field specifically for guests and their dogs. Please stay on the mowed path so the hay crop is protected. When hay is not growing, you are welcome to enjoy the open areas of the fields, including the center portions, for walking, hiking, playing Frisbee, throwing tennis balls, or simply letting your dog enjoy the space. We also have two picnic areas. One is located in the middle portion of the property and is a great place to sit down, enjoy a picnic lunch, throw a ball, or take a break with your dog. **PARKING & GUEST AMENITIES** When you enter the property, you will see the designated parking area on your left. Near the parking area, you will find a picnic table, doggy waste bags, trash cans, tennis balls in a metal container, bug spray, and a basic first-aid kit. Please return the tennis balls when you are finished. If you notice that we are getting low on doggy bags, bug spray, first-aid supplies, or any of the other guest items, we would greatly appreciate you letting us know so we can restock them for the next visitor. Please pick up all dog waste during your visit using the bags provided and dispose of all used doggy bags and other trash in the provided trash cans before leaving. **WATER STATION** Across the driveway from the parking area, you will find a water spigot and hose, along with water bowls and buckets for your dogs. You are welcome to give your dog fresh water there or fill your own dog water bottles before heading farther out onto the property. After your walk, you are also welcome to use the hose to rinse mud or dirt off your dog before leaving. Depending on the weather and how adventurous your dog is, they may get muddy, so we recommend bringing a towel with you. **FENCING & OFF-LEASH USE** The property is fenced, but much of the fencing is older agricultural fencing, and there may be gaps or areas where a small, determined, or escaping dog could potentially get through. We strongly recommend walking the property with your dog on leash first, especially if your dog is a runner, has unreliable recall, or is difficult to control. If your dog has excellent recall and stays close to you, you can decide when you are comfortable allowing them to explore off leash. **NATURAL TERRAIN** Please remember that this is raw countryside. You may encounter uneven ground, mud, tall grass, insects, poison ivy, stinging nettle, and other native vegetation. Please wear sturdy shoes that completely cover your feet and dress appropriately for walking through natural Tennessee countryside. **WOODS & WILDLIFE** Please stay out of the wooded areas and do not allow your dogs to enter them. Deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, groundhogs, and other wildlife live on and around the property, and we want to respect their habitat and avoid disturbing them. **POND AREA** Please stay out of the pond and keep your dogs away from it. A sign is posted near the pond stating: **“Enter the pond at your own risk. No diving or swimming.”** The pond is surrounded by vegetation and may not be easy to see from a distance. The water can become muddy and stagnant, so we do not want guests or dogs entering or drinking from it. We also have a family of groundhogs that lives near the pond, and we ask that their habitat not be disturbed. If your dog accidentally gets into the pond, you are welcome to use the hose at the water station to rinse them off before leaving. **OUR HOME** Please remain at least **100 yards away from our home**. We have our own dogs on the property. They are safely secured and fenced, but they may bark when they see or hear visitors. **TRACTOR & EQUIPMENT AREA** You may see our tractor and equipment near a green shed. Please remain at least **100 yards away from this area** and do not allow dogs or children to approach or climb on any equipment. **RED BARN & STORAGE AREA** On the left-side field, on the same side of the property where you park your vehicle, you may see a small red barn, rocks, stored materials, and other items on the far side of the field. Please stay well away from this entire area and do not allow dogs or children to approach it. **MOST OF ALL, ENJOY YOUR VISIT** Other than the restricted areas listed above, we want you to relax, explore, and enjoy yourselves. Walk the hills, explore the fields, throw a Frisbee, play ball, have a picnic, and let your dog sniff, run, and enjoy the outdoors. We feel incredibly fortunate to have this land, and we are happy to share a little piece of it with you and your dogs. **TENNESSEE AGRITOURISM WARNING NOTICE** **WARNING** Under Tennessee law, there is no liability for an injury to or death of a participant in an agritourism activity conducted at this agritourism location or by this agritourism professional if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of the agritourism activity. Inherent risks of agritourism activities include, among others, risks of injury inherent to land, equipment, and animals, as well as the potential for you to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to your injury or death. **You are assuming the risk of participating in this agritourism activity.** **Tenn. Code Ann. § 43-39-103**

Otis' Private Dog Park In Smyrna

Unfenced
25 acres

A hidden gem in the midst of Smyrna! Nested within the city limits is 25 acres of beauty and splendor - creeks, woods, field, trails, and a crystal clear spring. One side of the property is bordered by rock springs and has some natural fencing consistent with a century old farm and homestead. Walk back in time and enjoy the boundless scenery. Please be aware of the water features as the spring is deep and moves swiftly through the property. An abundance of wildlife live on the farm so don’t be surprised by deer, hawks, skunks, rabbits, raccoons and such. With a farm also comes briars, thorns, uneven ground, fox holes, mole tunnels, and of course, ticks and mosquitoes. So come prepared!

2 mile wooded trail plus creek (unfenced)

Unfenced
15 acres

Park in the gravel lot at the bottom of the drive. Walk up the driveway towards the house, then head down the stone steps and cross the creek via the bridge (dogs are welcome to run through the creek)…the 2 mile loop takes about 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace. Dogs are allowed to be off leash - just make sure they have good recall as we do have deer and other wildlife in the heavily wooded property. The trail is maintained monthly. It is quite steep in places and can be wet after a rain so I would mark this as an intermediate level hike. There are no other dogs on property as this is an event center that can be rented by the day or for 3+ night stays.

Miles of marked hiking trails, woods and open pasture, a seasonal creek, and getting away from it all while still being close enough...all reserved just for you during your visit! We're honored to host families, friend groups, and hiking buddies who want to enjoy the peacefulness, beauty, and freedom found in adventuring with their pups on private rural land. (**It is up to the dog owner to keep themselves and their dogs on OUR property and not venture into a neighbor's area.**) Towels, water dish, hammock, table and chairs, and trail maps are available at the Welcome Station. A primitive outhouse is available for visitor use and is a little walk from the Welcome Station. Offering Sniffspot allows our family a unique opportunity to share our beautiful property with others. We are very cognizant of the rapid subdividing and development of rural land in Middle Tennessee, and we are hoping to continue offering our property as a peaceful escape to enjoy the beauty of the area. Thanks for your support towards this goal! :) 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 We are proud of our wild homeplace and love sharing its beauty and peacefulness with others! This property has been in our family since the early 1800s, and in fact, our children are the 8th generation to live in our old farmhouse. :) The portion of the property for our dog guests and their people is 140 acres of beautiful woods and spacious open fields less than an hour from Nashville. This part of the property has several cedar glades, marked hiking trails, karst topography, a seasonal creek, a variety of wildlife, and several benches (one converts to a picnic table) available for guests. We’ve developed and are continually maintaining trails across our property. Some of the trails are wide and open and give you great access to the beautiful pastures. Other trails are narrow and twist through the unendingly interesting woods. All trails have names and are identified with signs and posted maps. The woods trails are also marked with flags and ribbons to help you stay on track. The terrain varies from flat and open to hilly and wooded. If you need the fresh air, chance to recharge, and time to explore as much as your pup, this is the place for you! Our property is unfenced, and there are some neighbor homes near the property lines. It is essential that your dogs stay close to you and don’t bother anything outside our property. Plentiful Hill is a wild place. We aim to make it accessible and enjoyable to visitors, but we ultimately submit to the inescapable power, beauty, and essence of nature. Please anticipate and prepare for normal outdoor issues including bug bites, snake encounters, and severe weather. We work hard to keep paths mowed/accessible during the growing months, but bug spray (with Deet is the most effective) and tick checks are necessary to ensure you and your pups stay happy and healthy. :) ***Because this property has been a farm for more than 200 years, you may find some old implements, trash, and wire fencing left over from all those years ago. Staying on the trails while in the woods is advised. Also, you may hear the occasional gunshot from neighboring properties. That is common down in the country, especially during hunting season from Nov through Jan, and it can be startling. There is no shooting/hunting on our property.*** The Town of Chapel Hill is 10 minutes away and has several Dollar Generals, a small grocery store, several restaurants, a laundry mat, and a few boutique shops...enough to cover any essential needs you have while out visiting this way! We’re less than 30 minutes from Spring Hill and Lewisburg, less than 40 minutes from Franklin, Columbia, and Murfreesboro, and, surprisingly, less than 50 minutes from downtown Nashville. These are difficult times for a lot of folks, and we want our property to be a safe and inviting place for people of all backgrounds and their pets. It's important to us that people of color, those in the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone else who might sometimes feel unwelcomed in outdoor spaces feel especially comfortable and accepted while visiting our place.

Paradise is waiting for you

Unfenced
10 acres

We recently bought a lil piece of heaven, 10 acres of paradise. Half is wooded and half is open land. Open field available for your babies to run on and an open spot in the woods to explore. The property line between us and our neighbors is marked with metal stakes so we ask that you keep your fur babies on our side. But feel free to explore the field of tall grass with trails winding through. We have a dry pond to explore and lots of room to throw a ball. We love it here. Once your done, you both will need a nap. There’s a hose out front of the house you can use to fill up water for your baby, and chairs at the walnut tree to relax in if you need a break. Feel free to walk the trails which come out near the fence closest to house and opposite side in field. Make you and your babies at home and enjoy paradise as much as we all do! See you soon!

55This place is pure heaven! I have a young dog that is leash reactive towards other dogs which makes hiking on busy local trails difficult for us. I loved knowing that we wouldn’t run into any other people/dogs so we could all just relax and enjoy ourselves and work on recall and leash manners. We did hear some dogs barking in the distance but it didn’t take away from the experience. We will definitely be back!!!!

55This is a perfect spot if you are wanting a trail experience without the chance of running into another pup or human. The trails are well shaded, marked, and very thoughtfully created. There is also large open field if you want a free place for everyone to run. If you have a lowered suspension car, you may struggle a bit to pull into the field with the trail head because of the large gravel and incline, but we were in a normal sport wagon and had zero issues. We will absolutely be making this a frequent visit! Can't wait to go again!

55If you’re looking for a really cool, wild place to take your dog hiking off leash this is the place! There are some great fields for tossing a ball or frisbee & some really neat trails. They have pretty good signage & trail maps to take with you. We got a little confused with the trail in the fields/right by the property line but we found our way without much trouble. Mossy trail is really cool and our son and dog loved the creek. Our german shepherd had a blast! It’s very nice of them to provide bugspray and extra things like a towel and a hammock you can hang.

55I just cant say enough wonderful things about this spot. Maps now detail where you might run into the barking dogs behind a fence so you can either avoid or be prepared to train through it (yay!) and the other 98% of this property is absolute perfection. My three pups benefit immensely from visits out here. ❤️

55Great spot with fun trails and somw nice open fields for fetch. We came with our 3 young kids so they cooke explore some land too. We forgot the bug spray and that was a big mistake because we ended up brushing ticks off constantly. Thankfully we went back to the main station and they had left some there for us to use. This saved our trip and allowed us to spend another hour playing fetch and throwing a football in the open field. Both dogs did great off leash, but we did bring leashes to use in case we saw another dog. We ended up using them just a little bit because the field had a tractor out working with the hay, so even though our dogs have good recall we wanted to be extra careful around the tractor. He was gone from the field after we had walked the trails so the dogs had plenty of time in the fields to run.

55I cant speak more higjly of this sniffspot. having three reactive dogs makes providing adventures and enriching experiences difficult for them at times and this land is heaven on earth for all of us. Winding trails, wide open fields and aside from a couple beautiful pyranees behind a fence near one of the wooded trails, not a single other dog or human in sight. there were snacks available along the trails along with maps and clear markers. A massive thank you to the host for letting people and dogs like ours enjoy your property. Grateful doesnt even begin to describe it.

Frequently asked questions about Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails

Why are private dog hiking trails better than public dog parks in Lockeland Springs?

Private dog hiking trails in Lockeland Springs eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Lockeland Springs's 15 private dog hiking trails offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.

How safe are Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails compared to public dog parks?

Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.

Are Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails safe for reactive dogs?

Lockeland Springs owners of reactive dogs choose dog hiking trails because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy natural exploration and varied terrain while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Lockeland Springs reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.

Can anxious dogs safely use Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails?

Yes! Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment at their own pace without stress. Many Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.

Are Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails good for small dogs?

Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Lockeland Springs dog hiking trails because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Lockeland Springs avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog hiking trails eliminate that worry.
