The Doggy Dome

Fully Fenced
15 acres

We live on 15 acres, and now have 1.5 acres fully fenced! It is all very flat land making for an easy stroll with your dogs. We are boarded on two edges by farm fields and two edges by neighbors. There is a trail that circles the property, with plenty of space to explore. During the summer, please take advantage of the small kiddie pool. There are also toys and chairs in the fenced area for all guests. Some seasonal things to keep in mind: Spring/fall when we have heavy rain, some areas could have standing water and/or be muddy. Mid to late summer, there are fox tails (cheat grass) that can cling to your dogs. Winter, the trails might not be plowed. There will be a 5gal bucket in the wood shed (inside the fenced area) full of water you can use to refill the two water bowls. Keep an eye out for trip hazards! Logs, sticks, uneven ground and holes.

Ray's Private Dog Park In Edwall

Partially Fenced
50 acres

The 50 acres is mostly timber, with a 7 acre pond that has water in it most of the year. It will dry up on really hot years. I do have chickens and pack goats by the house. But they are inside mesh fencing, so your dogs won’t be able to get to them. The 50 acres is completely fenced with a 3 to 5 strand Barbwire fence. It’s in good shape. It is also the property boundary. So as long as you stay inside of the fence, you will be on the property. There are not a lot of neighbors but the ones I have are nice. When you come up the driveway, you can pass the house and drive up on the hill and Park at the conex container. There is lots of wildlife on the property, and I highly recommend that your dog has some sort of tick repellent, we do have ticks in the spring time. The upper part of the driveway is not graveled, so if there’s melting snow, or a lot of ran, it can get muddy. So be prepared for that. I hope you enjoy the property as much as we do. ***ALL PRICES LISTED ARE IN USD***

Adventure abounds… even getting here! Use this address to arrive to S. 8th Street (you want to drive down this gravel road): 12398 S 8th St, Medical Lake, WA 99022 This is a gravel road with NO TRESPASSING signs. Ignore those (dog visitors welcome). You can confirm your location accuracy using this Google Maps coordinate: (47.5402231, -117.6853444) Drive ALL THE WAY DOWN S 8th Street. Nearly at the end of it, you'll will drive up a hill. Once over the hill, drive ahead until you reach a white RV ahead of you. Park to the right or left before the RV. You’ll see a fenced area (to your right), hobbit (made of sticks) fences and flowers (to your left of where you park). SniffSpot prevents active links grab a screenshot and send the shot to ChatGPT or any AI app, it will make the link active: https://www.google.com/maps/d/embed?mid=1Qt7TZuAU0Ch4aBdz2ye2zUUNCOvWnRk&ehbc=2E312F The link is a map of the 20 acres with trails, bird watching sites, wildlife sightings, and ponds. Trust the journey. Let your pup run wild (off-leash) through tall, waving grass, explore trails, or dive into the ponds (Gaia gives it five wet tail wags). This is a natural playground, not a manicured park, where paws get muddy and noses stay busy. My dog Gaia might greet you, she’s friendly, gentle, and loves having company. If your pup prefers solo adventures, just let me know. Your presence and financial support go 100% to dogs in need. Nurses: Please pick flowers. They are for you.

55This is one of the best places to take your dog(s) for an outing! It has so many different adventure options suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities. There are well worn paths through a forested property where you may see the tracks of a family of deer who use the trails, and your dog may detect the odors of raccoons, squirrels, and rabbits and may actually see one. Of course there is a lot of bird song. Two of the trails go near small ponds and the frogs croak out their mating songs until they detect a presence. There are some relatively new side trails the host has put in and they are for the slightly more adventurous as they are a little rougher, but I'm a 76 year old woman and I found them easy enough and interesting and my dog was delighted. He even went bounding off onto some trails that must have been made by the animals who live out there. The first new trail begins to the right just a little way past the entrance and leads around by one of the ponds which is not a place for wading or dog paddling--there are many little willow trees growing up in it and a dog might want to sniff around the edges but is unlikely to do more than that. That side trail leads back to the well-worn path. Turn right as you come to it and you'll come to the central area where there is a little table with a map on it and two chairs and a trash can for doggie doo bags. From there you can go straight up the slight slant to a loop around some big trees and there are two trails that take off from that loop, too. Or from that central area, you can turn left and continue a short way to a trail on the left that will come out near the beginning of the SniffSpot where your car is parked. That trail is one used by the deer so you may spot some tracks. Keep your eye out on all the trails for little rock or stick constructions made by the wee forest folk and on the trail that goes to the loop there's a piece of wood on the left where they stash their tiny white quartz stones. I like to add one or two if I find any on the trails. Oh. I advise you to wear walking shoes rather than sandals, especially on the newer trails. This is a wonderful place to experience and enjoy the peace of being surrounded by nature. On the loop trail you may hear a horse whinny as there is a big pasture nearby and you might hear an occasional dog from neighboring houses and the sounds of children playing, but those are natural sounds, too.

55I just love this place. It is so well maintained and all the trails are such an adventure for the dogs as well as us. It was so wonderful to get back this year, and as always great hosts! It was even better this year...we discovered a couple new trails. Very tranquil in places, little creeks here and there, plenty of places to park your hiney if you want and there are a couple really open spaces for play time with your dogs as well. Its JUST BEAUTIFUL here. I may book it just for myself just to go and sit and have some me time.😉😉😉.

55A little of everything for dogs to enjoy. The trails with wooden signs and benches was a fun touch. Izzy had fun trying each one, but her favorite attraction was the stream and small river. My only suggestion might be to put a fenced path thru the first barn yard with the animals rather than just have dogs on a leash. Izzy just wanted to meet and play with the goats, rabbits and chickens but a reactive strong dog would be too hard to hold back. Next time I will either bring my slip leash or park in top so I don't have to walk her thru the animals. 🤔

Frequently asked questions about Saint John dog hiking trails

What do private dog hiking trails in Saint John offer that public parks don't?

Private dog hiking trails in Saint John offer complete privacy (no other dogs), specialized environments for natural exploration and varied terrain, professionally maintained cleanliness, flexible 24/7 scheduling, and safe spaces for all temperaments—puppies, seniors, small dogs, reactive dogs, or any pup needing accommodations. Public dog parks in Saint John can't guarantee any of this. With 5 options, you get predictable, controlled environments perfect for your dog's specific needs.

Can I find fully fenced private dog parks in Saint John?

Yes! Most of Saint John's 5 private dog parks are fully fenced. Use the "fully fenced" filter to find secure enclosures with detailed specs: height (4ft, 6ft, 8ft+), material (wood, chain-link, vinyl), and gap information. This is crucial for escape artists, puppies learning boundaries, reactive dogs needing contained space, or small dogs who might squeeze through. Saint John listings include fencing photos so you can verify security.

When can puppies start visiting dog hiking trails in Saint John?

Puppies can visit Saint John dog hiking trails as early as 8-10 weeks with initial vaccinations, much earlier than the 16+ weeks needed for public park safety. This early, controlled socialization prevents fear and reactivity issues later. Plus, puppies can explore natural exploration and varied terrain without being overwhelmed or learning bad behaviors from poorly socialized adult dogs. Many Saint John trainers specifically use dog hiking trails for puppy development.

How do I find private dog hiking trails near me in Saint John?

Browse Saint John's 5 dog hiking trails on Sniffspot by entering your neighborhood or zip code. Filter by distance, then narrow by features: fully fenced, "fewer dogs seen/heard," specific amenities, terrain type, or size. Each Saint John listing shows photos, reviews, exact location, and instant availability. Local favorite The Doggy Dome is particularly popular among Saint John dog owners.

Can I rent dog hiking trails in Saint John by the hour?

Yes! All 5 dog hiking trails in Saint John are available for hourly rental. Most bookings are 1-2 hours, though you can reserve longer for training or events. Book instantly through Sniffspot, arrive during your time slot, and have complete privacy. Many Saint John dog owners rent weekly for consistent, safe exercise.

What's the difference between Sniffspot dog hiking trails and public dog parks in Saint John?

The biggest difference is privacy and control. Public dog parks in Saint John mean sharing space with unknown dogs and owners. That means you can't control who shows up or how they behave. Sniffspot's 5 Saint John dog hiking trails give you private bookings where only your dogs are present. You choose the time, the space, and the environment. Plus, your pup enjoys natural exploration and varied terrain and maintained cleanliness that public parks can't guarantee.

Are there indoor dog hiking trails in Saint John?

Yes! Saint John has climate-controlled indoor dog hiking trails perfect for extreme weather, rainy days, or year-round exercise. Indoor Saint John locations typically feature protective flooring, controlled temperatures, and enclosed environments. They're especially popular for puppy training, senior dogs, reactive dogs, or anyone wanting consistent access regardless of Saint John weather. Filter by "indoor" to see options.

How do Saint John dog hiking trails help with dog training?

Saint John trainers love dog hiking trails because privacy eliminates distractions. Work on recall, practice trail recall in natural environments, leash manners on varied terrain, or hiking endurance building, reinforce obedience, socialize puppies, or address reactivity without interruptions. For reactive dogs, train without trigger-stacking. For puppies, practice skills in controlled increments. For any dog, get focused training time in an environment specifically designed for natural exploration and varied terrain.
