Fenced, 5-ish Acre Open-Space & Place to Play

Approximately 5 acres of sloping, pasture-like land located at the top of a hill. This upper portion is available to run your dog. We share the land with turkeys, foxes, raccoons, possums, deer, coyotes, and bobcats. These lovable wildlife are generally only out at dawn, dusk, and after dark. Your dog must be well-behaved and listen to your commands not to chase these residents. We also have beehives back in the trees and ask that you and your dogs avoid this area for your safety and the safety of the bees. While the frontage is fenced, it is livestock fencing, so small dogs can escape. If your dog does not listen to commands and is prone to be an escape artist, this may not be the spot for them. During the dry season there are large cracks in the ground so be cautious. Ticks can also be prevalent during certain times of the year, so be sure to check yourself and your pup after a visit. Several neighboring properties have dogs in their fenced yards. There is no access to water here, so please plan accordingly. Enjoy!

We have a small farm on the west side of Petaluma. We offer a large, fully fenced, paddock at the front of our property for Sniffspot. We often have other dogs on the property as we run a dog daycare/boarding business but we will secure all other animals in another paddock at the back of our property when we have visitors. It is possible that other dogs will be visible for short periods of time during the visit. Our main gate code is on the keypad when you pull up. Please park to the left near the blue Toyota pickup when you drive in (there is a sign). The best gate to enter the SniffSpot is towards the main gate entrance (near the wood fence).

Joy Ridge Sanctuary with over 2 Acres of Redwoods and Gardens

Welcome to our private (we will not be home when you visit!) oasis with over 2 fully fenced acres of redwoods and gardens in Occidental with a park-like setting. Dogs and their families can journey the meandering paths and trails to explore gardens, redwoods, seasonal fruit trees (you are welcome to try it) and endless relaxing areas with hammocks, benches, tables/chairs and even a covered outdoor bed. There is an indoor rustic lounge with sofa and table/chairs where we provide complimentary coffee/tea, water and treats for humans and dogs, dog toys/wipes/towels/blankets/waste bags, disposable rain ponchos for people and a covered outdoor patio with a sitting area to enjoy the redwoods. pup/s. There is also an over 100 feet long outdoor dog playpen (32 inch tall) that provides a spacious activity area on a dirt/grass if you want to relax by our 1000+ years old redwood tree and keep an eye on your pup/s. Our redwoods sanctuary is perfect for celebrations, gatherings and private recharging in nature for dogs and their families. Only 15 min drive to dog friendly beaches, 10 min to 'Grove of Old Trees' (dog friendly) and to downtown in Occidental which is known for its shops, galleries and a famous dog friendly Howard Station Cafe. It's also an 8 min drive to 'St. Teresa of Avila Church' in Bodega where Alfred Hitchcock's film 'The Birds' was filmed. If you are visiting with little humans, please enjoy our outdoor toddler playground, swing (for kids and adults), an outdoor mud kitchen with kids' picnic table and a large sandbox with toys. Sniff and Splash

We offer a fully fenced space for your dog to run, play, or swim. Towel, toys and water are available. The doggie parents can enjoy a putting green while the dogs play. Feel free to join your dog for a swim on these hot days.

Rover's Ranch Run! 2 acre fenced field of sniffs

Fully fenced open field experience to walk, run, and sniff! You will also have a beautiful new shade structure for your use with seating, a table, and water spigot. This open area is great for active pups to get a free run, walk around the perimeter, or fetch super long ball throws! Your pup can jump on the large boulders and run to their hearts content. Perfect for off-leash training. Large oaks line the East fence and a winter swale will have water after it rains. Beautiful sunsets to the West over the vineyards, Mt. Jackson and the Coastal Range. Neighboring properties have horses, sheep, cows, and dogs. Please discourage your pup digging around the pavilion and trees. Parking is at the top of the property. We try our best to keep the perimeter mowed during Spring so you can enjoy walking and playing fetch. Views of Sonoma Mountain. Straight up the driveway (no turning left or right) dead end in gravel driveway and park in front of the railroad crossing sign that has a Sniffspot poster. A nice flat grassed area for you to exercise your dog. Large area to run or play ball with your dog.Ball launcher available sometimes( My dog is obsessed with it, so when I can sneak it away from her). Or use area for training one on one with your canine. An enjoyable experience noted by all guests visiting!! When you book a time it will just be you occupying the dog park. Welcome!! Sorry, no porta potty available, as it was put there by landscapers while they worked on property. Please do not book the 230pm time slot Mon-Fri if you have a reactive dog. Book the 3pm time slot as I rent the field out to a dog walker who leaves with many cars of dogs around 230pm or slightly thereafter, so that you do not cross paths with one another. Agility equipment area has just been added to sniffspot. Enter through secondary gate within sniffspot.Enjoy your visit!! Sometimes I have time slots available that do not show on calendar. You can message me and see if there is any availability on any particular day that may seem to be fully booked.

Poolside Lounge & Play for Pups & Their People

Lounge beside the pool while your pups play and sniff to their heart's content. Read your book in the egg swing or drink your beverage stretched out on a chase lounge. You and your pups are all welcome to use the pool but be forewarned, it is not heated and very chilly until August. Some dogs can't resist a pool. Please encourage them to do so with your careful supervision. Call dogs out of the pool at any sign of cold or distress, including shivering, coughing, or submerging. There is no bathroom available for humans. Dogs can use the yard, of course. Please clean up after them with bags provided, and dispose of all waste in the gray tote outside the gate. Park perpendicular to the curb, facing the white brick wall in front of the house, to the right of the driveway. Walk up the driveway past the tent trailer, and enter through the gate on the left. Bring towels, a chucker, your picnic lunch, and have fun!

Fully Fenced, Peaceful, Beautiful Dog Park

A beautiful fenced-in 3+ acre parcel with hills, a few trees, areas with short and tall grass. Dogs absolutely love it here. Occasionally we’ll see wild turkeys and a few deer (and a gopher or squirrel here and there) but otherwise it is a dog roaming paradise. Easy to pull in and park on the gravel area. I have dog bowls, a few toys, 3 pooper scoopers, emergency poop bags, and a couple of washing stations. Cell reception is reasonably good here.

DeTurk Round Barn Dog Park

The Gulch Lake

The ultimate dog escape! A certified organic ranch and dreamy lake surrounded by rolling hills! Your dogs can experience wild foul, fish and cattle or spend their time time swimming away at the lake! There is a picnic table (not in the best shape, but can fit about 4 people) for your stuff and a great combination of sun and shade surrounding the lake! We recently added a 1.2 mile trail around our property. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Accessing our lake requires a bit of a walk through uneven terrain with cow holes, which may be challenging for some. If you have difficulty walking on rough ground, this Sniffspot may not be the best fit. While there is a path, it is not perfectly smooth, and less active visitors may find it hard to navigate. Cows do roam freely in the same field. They are harmless, but please be sure to close all gates securely when entering or leaving the area. We recommend ignoring the cows—they’ll leave you alone if you do the same. Our house is the only house on the right side of the road. Please do not stop/disturb the first houses on the left side of the driveway. Keep coming down our driveway and park near the light blue green house on the right. If you’re wondering if we test for toxic blue green algae, the answer is yes! The test was negative! Please see our pictures for confirmation of a negative test! Test performed on 6/1/25
