Camp Columbia - My Columbia City back yard

Fully Fenced
0.03 acres

Modest but useful fully enclosed 1500 sq ft back yard in Columbia City. If the nearby dog park on Genessee is too much for your pup, enjoy this little retreat instead. Fully fenced and enclosed for peace of mind (although if you have a jumper, take note that my fences are not super tall). There are two narrow strips along each side of the house which make for good sprints. The duplex to the north does have two small dog residents but they are rarely seen. The neighboring house to the south is vacant so it is a pretty quiet zone. Trash day is Thursday and the yard faces the alley where the big green trash trucks growl past, so be aware of that potential distraction. Also, the neighbor to the south has an irregular, unpredictable schedule for the landscaping crew, and it can be really noisy for a hot 60 minutes when they show up. If they start up while you're here, feel free to bail and let me know so I can rebook you at no cost. Ample street parking in front of the house on 38th Ave South. Enter through the gate on the north side of the red house. There is no parking along the back alley between 38th & 39th but there is a walk-in entrance from that alley if you prefer. The blue bin against the house contains some dog towels and a few other toys, treats, and supplies. Please keep it latched to prevent critters from getting in. Shoot me a note if there are any problems with the yard or supplies.

55My two dogs had a great time playing in the grass and smelling all the good stuff to smell. The only issue is that one of my dogs is highly reactive to other dogs, and there’s a chain link fence along the back where another dog did walk by. Fortunately I was able to distract my dog and he didn’t notice. If you have normal dogs, this is a sweet little spot to burn off some energy. Even though we had to cut our visit short, my dogs are tired out and snoozing now!

FAQ about our Rainier Valley dog parks

Are there dog parks in Rainier Valley for reactive dogs?

Yes! Rainier Valley has 6 private dog parks specifically designed for reactive, anxious, or dog-selective pets. Unlike public dog parks where unexpected encounters can trigger your reactive dog, Sniffspot offers completely private bookings. That means only you and your dogs will be there. We enforce 30-minute buffers between visits so you won't run into other park users when arriving or leaving. This makes Rainier Valley Sniffspots perfect for reactive dogs who need safe off-leash exercise.

How many private dog parks are in Rainier Valley?

Rainier Valley has 6 private Sniffspot locations ranging from cozy backyard spaces to expansive properties spanning 2.89+ acres. You'll find dog water parks, small dog parks, and fully fenced dog parks options, each offering complete privacy during your reserved time. Browse listings to compare sizes, amenities, fencing, and reviews from other Rainier Valley dog owners.

Are Rainier Valley dog parks friendly for all dog types?

Absolutely! Rainier Valley Sniffspot locations work for every type of dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer away from large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space to run, and yes, reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. Because bookings are completely private, you can customize the experience to your dog's specific needs—whether that's careful puppy introductions or stress-free exercise for nervous dogs.

Will there be other dogs at Rainier Valley dog parks?

No, that's what makes Sniffspot different from public dog parks! We only allow one booking at a time, and host dogs must be kept away during your visit. When you book a Rainier Valley dog park, you have the entire space to yourself (plus any dog-owning friends you invite). This privacy is crucial for reactive dogs, puppies in training, or any dog who needs space from other animals.

What makes Rainier Valley dog parks safe for anxious dogs?

Rainier Valley Sniffspot locations provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. There are no aggressive dogs, no inattentive owners, and no unexpected encounters that could traumatize anxious or fearful dogs. All guests must have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars, with many highlighting how safe their reactive or anxious dogs felt.

Can puppies use Rainier Valley dog parks?

Absolutely! Rainier Valley dog parks are ideal for puppy socialization because they provide controlled, distraction-free environments. Puppies can practice recall, build confidence, and explore without the overwhelming chaos of public dog parks. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting any Rainier Valley Sniffspot.

Are Rainier Valley dog parks good for small dogs?

Yes! Many Rainier Valley Sniffspot hosts mark their spaces as "small dog friendly," meaning they're appropriately sized for toy breeds and small dogs. Unlike public dog parks where small dogs risk being overwhelmed or injured by larger breeds, Rainier Valley private bookings give your small dog the entire space to themselves. Look for secure fencing with minimal gaps and hosts who understand petite pup needs.

What are the requirements for Rainier Valley dog parks?

All dogs must have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. Each Rainier Valley host may have additional requirements listed on their booking page. Most welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit traditional public dog parks.
