Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

Fully Fenced
0.63 acres

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). With that said, a 8 ft tide still gives you approximately 20 feet x 300 feet of beach to roam so you pup still has some room to explore and 9ft is approximately 10 feet x 30 feet. You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

55This was a delightful sniffspot. The area down near the river was very dense grass and brush but Milo had a great time crashing through everything. The river was high but we were still able to wade up to the beach and Milo enjoyed wading around. I did have him wear his life jacket as there is a fair amount of current. That being said there wasn't any steep dropoffs into the water so Milo never went in over his head. Be prepared for an ~20minute leashed walk to and from the sniff spot as the field has been plowed and seeded so you have to go around to access the river. I'm an athletic young person and it took me 20 minutes going out and about 15 coming back. Overall a lovely spot and I will definitely come back later in the year when the river is a bit calmer and it's hotter for some swimming. We saw some horses from a distance and one dog that was at least 300yards away across the river. Otherwise no animals. This would definitely be sutable for reactive dogs.

55We loved this spot so much! I really enjoyed meeting Robin as well as the rhythm of taking a path-walk before the reveal of the river romp spot. If you like taking dog photos, there are some super fun backdrops all in one spot (water, huge trees, wheatfield). The variety of environments and the cool-off-ability afforded by the river are great, but I would totally come back in the winter too.

55Holy cow! Incredible, incredible Sniffspot! This was our 2nd visit and we already have another reservation. Really cool, beautiful area. Since we knew our way around we just went straight to the trailhead and did a short amount of hiking before finding the river. Cooper was ecstatic to be back and remembered exactly where to go. We figured out if we walked to the left once we got down to the water there were deeper spots which would actually allow Cooper to do a little swimming. Boats pass by every so often (we only saw 1 this time in our 2 hours) and I'm not sure if there are strong currents further out so I keep him closer to shore just in case. He had a super duper fun time. One warning: scan the rocks in the water for lures...people fish these waters and I did pull 2 hooked lures out of the rocks. Absolutely amazing place, definitely a must visit for any Sniffspotter!

55This property delights both dog & owners with plenty of walking opportunities. There's a trail leading to the woods and the Skykomish River. Our dogs explored to their hearts' content and we had the peace of mind not encountering another dog around the corner. It was probably a 15 minutes walk to the river, and we saw geese and ducks along the way. It's March and there are patches of snow here and there, but wasn't muddy and the ground was firm not soft. At the river we wished we'd brought lawn chairs while the dogs busy themselves romping the shallow waters. We took a short cut across the field to get to our parked car. Robin was very nice, she greeted us when we arrived and gave some information about where to go.

She is accommodating if your dog is reactive or needs more space. -The river is beautiful for the humans and fun for the dogs to swim or wade in. There is a large rocky beach (at least in the fall/late summer) to run around on. -lots of great smells to keep the nose engaged. -wide open expanses for frisbee chasing -bonus was geese to chase out of the field We had a great time which resulted in two very tired dogs!!"

55Pajo Ranch was a great sniff spot to visit! Robin was very helpful in giving us directions (don't follow what Google Maps says at end, you need to stay on the main road until you see the Sniffspot sign) and helped us get our bearings when we first arrived. We walked around the large field to get to the trail down to the river, and our dog had so much fun being able to splash around in the water and running in the big open space. We didn't see any other people in the two hours while we were there, and our dog was good and tired by the time we left. We will definitely come back to enjoy it again!

55"Initially I got in contact with Robin of PaJo Ranch and we corresponded through text. She was very kind and helpful in arranging a good time to meet her at her place. I left my house in Lynnwood at 5:15pm and got to Monroe around 6:25pm. When we got to PaJo Ranch we were greeted at the ""Tiny House"" by Robin. She had a huge smile on her face, and her little sidekick doggy helped us drive to the entrance way of the fields. Robin told us her ranch history, which is fascinating - so please ask her about her family ranch when you go! She explained that she rents out part of the land to other farmers - last year they grew soybeans!! This year, when we got there, people were working on the land, even until 8:30pm. Robin explained that the whole field all the way to the back fence was available for Bear to run around in, except the field where the other farmers were working. We initially went to the left, but soon realized that towards the end of the car-driven path, we could not walk any farther down because the field was being used by the farmers, so we had to turn around. But we did see a beaver up close who swam back into the water! It was surreal. So we turned around back to where we first started and walked through the flower fields. It took a good 20-25 minutes to get to the other side but it sure was a fun adventure. The grass and flowers were very tall, sometimes even up to my waist! Bear had a blast running, hopping, and getting his face whacked with pollen. We went on a particularly sunny, hot day, so I wore shorts, but I do suggest you wear long pants and sturdy shoes. If it was a rainy day before, I highly suggest rain boots or hiking boots and towels for your car. We got to the other side and could not figure out how to get to the Skykomish River. We hoped there were signs or we were let know ahead of time what the best route was to get to the river. There was one way to the left that we found led straight to the water, but we couldn't figure out how to get to the very left side where there was a pebbled shallow area. We finally gave up and tried to find a new route. We came back out and took trail to the right. Boy! Be careful of many, many thorns from old, dead blackberry bushes covering the whole path. Your doggies' paws could get a hurtin' - we had to take out a couple thorns from Bear's paws and he did not seem to enjoy it. I also got a couple scratches on my legs - so long pants suggested. It was however, a nice getaway and reminded me of adventures I had when I was a kid - a ""Bridge to Terabithia"" vibe. After wandering to find a better path to the river, it was growing darker, so we decided to head back. We took to the fields of flowers again - I don't think there was another way through, but nonetheless it was a fun one back! We let Bear off leash and he ran and ran like a mad man! He was hopping around like a bunny and his face was yellow and sticky with pollen. It was a perfect end to a perfect day as the sun set on the fields, mountain, moon, and river surrounding you. Definitely a beautiful, scenic spot you don't want to miss! Bring a camera to take beautiful pics of the lovely scenery! Bring a snack or a picnic setting to eat towards the river because you will definitely use up the full 2 hours. I highly suggest you explore Robin's ""Tiny House"" as well - we did not have time, but we hope to see it next time! And enjoy the farm animals around you - sheep, horsies, and Robin's other dogs. And take in the vast area of land before you and the nature around you - you will truly enjoy it. Next time I will ask Robin what the best, direct way to get to the river is and I will make sure Bear will be able to play in the water more."

55Access to the River is so much fun. We really loved it here, again! I will plan a longer reservation next time, so we can enjoy the river even longer (because I love not rushing the walk down there too...so much to smell). Robin is a positive presence :) Thanks, Robin! If your dog is reactive to things and people in the distance you may want to arrange to scout the location ahead of time, or take a second person, if you plan to work on DS/CC training or rehab. There isn't a fence down near the River portion, of course, and the occasional surprise person/groups of people have appeared during both our visits. But we still loved it and will come back again for sure.

55We are first-time users of sniff spot. The farm was a great experience for our 2 year old Border Collie mix who is reactive to other dogs. He does not often get a chance to run like crazy in a wide open space. We had the added benefit of a flock of geese for him to Chase. The only reason I do not give this a 5-star review is because we had some trouble finding a good pathway down to the river. We will definitely use the sniff spot again

55We had an incredible time here yesterday! To be honest, at first I wasn't sure....it's early in the year and the foliage and grass is really overgrown so initially I had a hard time finding the trails. And it was just me and my dog so I was a little nervous being alone in the woods. But, once we got our bearings and started to relax, we had an amazing time exploring. This is a truly beautiful place and I felt soooo peaceful. The paths to the river are completely hidden right now and we had a super hard time finding a way down to the water...but, once we did, it was incredible! The challenge of finding it actually made it even cooler, kind of like an oasis, and we were so happy running down to splash around. This place is magical....really gorgeous place to be and Robin makes it even more special. I just liked her immediately...her energy is so welcoming & pleasant and she was so patient helping us find her place and showing us around. She said she'll be clearing the trails soon now that the weather has dried out but either way we are already looking forward to another visit. Definitely recommend you bring your dog(s) here...they (and you) will love it!!!! ♥

55What a wonderful experience. This sniff spot was clearly marked, easy to find and our host was friendly and informative. The area was a wonderful mix of fields for running, forest trails for sniffing and a wide, slow river for water play. The two hour minimum time limit made it more expensive but it was well worth the money and we truly needed the two hours to explore all this property has to offer. We will 100 percent be back!

55"A day at the farm! This is a fun spot in a beautiful area - mountain views and the Skykomish River surround you. I parked at the house and walked down to the river - so plan to stay for at least a couple of hours as it does take some time to walk. Down along the river there are lots of paths to explore. I put my dog back on a leash down by the river because the current is quite strong and he was wanting to swim far in to it. There are lots of blackberry bushes, so wearing books / sturdy pants will help."

The water was too cold for swimming, but Luna enjoyed wading around. After a couple weeks of working from home, it was great to be out enjoying nature for a couple hours. 55With so much space and no need to touch a thing, this is heaven on earth for people and dogs during this time of social distancing requirements. The fields were beautiful and planted with a mustard cover crop getting ready for the spring planting. The dogs enjoyed romping through the mustard and even sampled some. It's an organic farm so I was not worried about pesticides. The water was cold so no swimming today for my dogs but they did enjoy some wading and the fresh water bowl called the river. Robin, the host, is a kind, passionate person who loves animals and is a pleasure to talk to. There were deer tracks but no deer to be seen. There are geese and geese poop but minimal as best I could tell and once we arrived they flew away. I'm sure my dogs enjoyed some deer and goose poop but it's nature and as long as I kept moving so did they. It was a pleasure to get out and stretch and enjoy some fresh air. Can't wait to return. Didn't see another person other than Robin for the first 10 minutes or so and not another dog or wildlife other than birds including eagle, heron, geese and songbirds.

55Samm found a piece of spaniel heaven today! Thank you Robin for sharing your Sniff Spot! We worked on our recall which is why she is wearing a bell - I needed to know where she was. Samm did awesome! This was our first unfenced area. This is a great spot if you have a reactive dog - Samm isn't but there wasn't any other dogs or people around. The property borders the river so we ( meaning she who has no fear) did a lot of swimming. The river has areas of rock and sand. We most certainly will be back! Our host Robin was sweet and kind. Samm liked her right away as did I!

Are Cascade View dog beaches good for all dog types?

The completely private bookings mean each dog gets the environment they need. Browse Cascade View's 5 options to find spaces matching your dog's specific temperament and needs.

Will I encounter other dogs at Cascade View dog beaches?

Not a chance. Cascade View dog beaches operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Cascade View owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.

Are Cascade View dog beaches safe for fearful or anxious dogs?

Yes! Cascade View dog beaches provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. Since bookings are completely private with 30-minute buffers, anxious dogs can explore a waterfront area where dogs can swim, play in sand, and enjoy beach activities off-leash without overwhelming encounters. Many Cascade View dog owners specifically choose dog beaches for fearful dogs who need gentle, stress-free exercise environments.

Absolutely! Cascade View dog beaches are excellent for puppy socialization because they're private and controlled. Puppies can explore a waterfront area where dogs can swim, play in sand, and enjoy beach activities off-leash, practice recall, and build confidence without the overwhelming chaos that can create fear or reactivity in young dogs. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting.
