Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry.

55We've been here several times and each time is incredible. This is such a beautiful, spectacular place and one of our favorites. There is a large crop field that you will need to make your way around to get to the trailhead but it's gorgeous and, for us, one of the best parts. Once you get to the trailhead you will have the option to hike around and explore or you can head straight to the river. In all the times we've been here we've never had any encounters with animals of any kind and only once was there a person nearby....a fisherman who was down on the far end of the bank who eventually left. Otherwise everyone else was either passing by on boat or float across the river. Most of the time though there isn't a soul around and we really just enjoy the seclusion and the beauty all around....it's really pretty. In the warmer months Cooper has a blast swimming around and digging in the sandy patches, in the cooler months it's just a really lovely walk. Really great super awesome Sniffspot and Robin, the host, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. ♥

55Samm found a piece of spaniel heaven today! Thank you Robin for sharing your Sniff Spot! We worked on our recall which is why she is wearing a bell - I needed to know where she was. Samm did awesome! This was our first unfenced area. This is a great spot if you have a reactive dog - Samm isn't but there wasn't any other dogs or people around. The property borders the river so we ( meaning she who has no fear) did a lot of swimming. The river has areas of rock and sand. We most certainly will be back! Our host Robin was sweet and kind. Samm liked her right away as did I!

55This is such an unbelievably beautiful spot and every time we come here we feel like the luckiest people on earth. Today was the most perfect day...60 degrees and sunny, the ground has soaked up all of the winter rain so no mud and we were completely alone. We had so much fun hiking around and then, when we got to the river, it was just absolutely breathtaking. During the winter some of the trees had fallen so the trail is a bit different and we ended up on a big patch of sand which Cooper loooooooved....he had a blast digging and running before we headed down to the water and then back up to do a little more hiking. There is so much to discover here and we always leave so happy and content. We've been here many times and have never seen another dog - or animal of any sort for that matter. Very secluded spot. There is no fencing but the property is huge so, if your dog has fairly decent recall you'll be fine.

55We really liked this SniffSpot, both the scenic walk around a field and the off leash area at the river. Its a great spot for getting your dogs used to water or if they are fans of the water a great spot to let them splash around. The shoreline is rocky so wear good shoes to save your ankles. Lots of room along the river and there is a good sight line for much of it in case your dogs like to wander far afield. The host met us and gave us a great introduction to the area and directions to find the river. We will definitely be back to get our dogs acclimated to the water, last trip they were obsessed with swallows flying along the shore.

55Pajo Ranch is so unique offering both a lovely hike and access to the Skykomish River. We wanted to give our dog an opportunity to see what she would do in water. Of course, she went right in as we were hoping she would. We kept her on a longline as she does not have a reliable recall. As others have mentioned, the shoreline is very rocky but she managed just fine. We brought some chairs along and were glad we did as sitting would have been difficult with all the rocks. Our host was extremely accommodating, answering all our questions and guiding us to the start of the trail which was easy to follow. It was a great experience for all of us. Pajo Ranch was on our Sniffspot bucket list from the time I found it several months ago and we finally made it!

55Wow. What an amazing spot. Not only did I get a scenic walk with my pup, but we also got a beautiful spot on the river to let my pup romp, play fetch, and just soak up some peace and quiet without having to worry about anything. Plus, Robin is an amazing host. Looking forward to many more fun outings at the PoJo Ranch!

55It provides the best of both worlds, a trail that your dog can roam off leash and the river for pups to play in. There were people over at another beach across from us and people going by on kayaks but my dogs didn’t seem to mind. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back.

55I’ve been to Pajo ranch a number of times now with my dog Lola, and we both really love it. So much space and in the multiple times I’ve been there, I’ve only come across people once, which was a couple of fishermen down by the river. It’s a pretty easy walk as the trails are cleared and there aren’t any elevation changes until you get to the river, at which point you’ll have to negotiate a small sandy incline to get to the river. You’ll definitely need some guidance to get to the river on your first visit, but once you know how to get there it’s easy to find. There really isn’t any shade, so on a hot sunny day it can get really warm. So make sure you bring some water for yourself and your pup. All in all it’s a wonderful place to spend some time alone with your dog(s), and I am very grateful that the owners have made this space available.

55On a weekday we didn’t see a single person, aside from Robin (who was friendly and helpful!) and some people fishing way down the river. My dog loved sniffing and swimming, I picked some blackberries, and enjoyed the beautiful views.

55We had a great time exploring PaJo Ranch with our Luna dog! We live in Seattle so our reactive pup doesn’t get a lot of off leash time to decompress and just be a dog. 2 hours at PaJo Ranch was perfect! Huge farm field to romp in, woods at the back of the property to explore, and a large chunk of private riverfront all our own! We’ll be back for sure!

55This is such an amazing spot. So incredibly beautiful and peaceful....medicine for the soul. Every step is enjoyable....from the big crop field to the wooded trails to the river. We have been here many times and, outside of people across the river at a far distance, have never seen another living creature. Cooper runs around like a nut collecting rocks, rolling around in the grass and splashing about in the river and I can totally relax here. Really special place, we love it here. ♥

55With so much space and no need to touch a thing, this is heaven on earth for people and dogs during this time of social distancing requirements. The fields were beautiful and planted with a mustard cover crop getting ready for the spring planting. The dogs enjoyed romping through the mustard and even sampled some. It's an organic farm so I was not worried about pesticides. The water was cold so no swimming today for my dogs but they did enjoy some wading and the fresh water bowl called the river. Robin, the host, is a kind, passionate person who loves animals and is a pleasure to talk to. There were deer tracks but no deer to be seen. There are geese and geese poop but minimal as best I could tell and once we arrived they flew away. I'm sure my dogs enjoyed some deer and goose poop but it's nature and as long as I kept moving so did they. It was a pleasure to get out and stretch and enjoy some fresh air. Can't wait to return. Didn't see another person other than Robin for the first 10 minutes or so and not another dog or wildlife other than birds including eagle, heron, geese and songbirds.

55Another great visit to PaJo Ranch! The mustard was in bloom on the west side of the field which was a treat. It was beautiful and Luna got to practice her gazelle jumps through the high greens! The water was too cold for swimming, but Luna enjoyed wading around. After a couple weeks of working from home, it was great to be out enjoying nature for a couple hours. Thanks again for sharing your space!

55What a wonderful experience. This sniff spot was clearly marked, easy to find and our host was friendly and informative. The area was a wonderful mix of fields for running, forest trails for sniffing and a wide, slow river for water play. The two hour minimum time limit made it more expensive but it was well worth the money and we truly needed the two hours to explore all this property has to offer. We will 100 percent be back!

FAQ about our Arlington dog beaches

Are dog beaches safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by park users so you can find the perfect safe place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars.
How can I find dog beaches near me?
There are 3 dog beaches in the Arlington area. The most popular dog beach is Creekside Full Fenced Park 5.9 Acres PERFECT WATER TRAINING Obstacles Shaded Picnic Table Chairs MOWED manicured weekly. You can browse all of our dog beaches here.
How do I know if a dog beach works for my dog?
Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your furry friends. If your dog doesn't respond to owner commands, you can visit one of our enclosed dog park areas. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog beach sites where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can see any park amenities provided, including a park bench, water for dogs or water features such as kiddie pool or water hose. If your dog loves water, you can go to a park with water features, but if they don't love water, you can avoid them. We also recommend reading reviews to check for park maintenance issues and reaching out to the host with any questions. And lastly, of course, check park hours. Many of our parks are open from dawn until dusk.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot park?
We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that owners sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. We also require that pet owners follow safety protocols around water features.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot park at the same time as me?
No. We only allow one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits. So when you book a Sniffspot park you have the entire place to yourself and your dog-owning friends if you invite them. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings so you will not run into other park patrons when coming or leaving.
How much do Sniffspot dog beaches cost?
Dog beaches in the Arlington area range from $25.0 and $25.0. The least expensive dog beach is Creekside Full Fenced Park 5.9 Acres PERFECT WATER TRAINING Obstacles Shaded Picnic Table Chairs MOWED manicured weekly. The most expensive dog beach is Creekside Full Fenced Park 5.9 Acres PERFECT WATER TRAINING Obstacles Shaded Picnic Table Chairs MOWED manicured weekly. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
Can I have an event or party at a dog beach?
If you are planning an amazing dog beach party, each Sniffspot park has their own rules regarding special events. Many parks allow doggie birthday parties, training, water parties and other event types. Event organizers need to be responsible for their guests and event organizers should coordinate with the host regarding their fun party. Make sure the park has amenities you need for your party, such as a park with lots of picnic tables with park benches.
