Horse Farm in Lovettsville

Partially Fenced
28 acres

Come for our glorious sunrises on the creek and sunsets in the fields or just to enjoy the day exploring the fields and creek. The dog area starts past the broken black fence behind the house and goes down through the fields and into the woods. I would appreciate it if you would kindly please keep the dogs leashes and wait until you are past the broken fence to allow your dog to do any business. If your dog is under control or if the horses are not out, you can let them loose right after the broken fence. If you think your dog might be nutty with the horses, please take appropriate measures. To get to the creek, go past the broken fence and keep going down the hill to the back tree line. I have included a map in the pictures. And then just keep walking; it’s about five minutes from the house to the trailhead. We have set out fluorescent yellow markers on the trees on the back tree line as you approach the trail. We also put up a blue sign that says “To The Creek” at the trail head. Once in the woods, walk down the steep hill and take the trail to the right at the bottom of the hill, before the little ravine. That trail will take you out to a spot where your dog can splash around and I’ve cut a few trails to explore back there. If you go to the red barn, you’ve gone too far. The trail is right at the base of the hill. We are looking forward to having you and please reach out if you need anything special or want to chat before coming.

You'll find diverse options: fully-fenced for escape artists, indoor climate-controlled for year-round use, swimming pools for hot days, agility courses for training, and more. Each Cross Junction dog hiking trail listing shows detailed photos, amenities, fencing specs, and reviews from local dog owners.

Are Cross Junction dog hiking trails good for all dog types?

Yes! Cross Junction dog hiking trails work for every dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer without large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space, and reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. The completely private bookings mean each dog gets the environment they need. Browse Cross Junction's 10 options to find spaces matching your dog's specific temperament and needs.

Will I encounter other dogs at Cross Junction dog hiking trails?

Not a chance. Cross Junction dog hiking trails operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Cross Junction owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.

Are Cross Junction dog hiking trails safe for fearful or anxious dogs?

Yes! Cross Junction dog hiking trails provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. Since bookings are completely private with 30-minute buffers, anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment without overwhelming encounters. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting.

How do I choose the best dog hiking trail in Cross Junction?

Start by filtering Cross Junction's 10 dog hiking trails for your specific needs: secure fencing for escape artists, "fewer dogs seen/heard" for reactive dogs, flat terrain for seniors, appropriate sizing for small dogs, or specific amenities for training. Look for "Top Spots" like Cross Junction's Horse Farm in Lovettsville with excellent reviews.Read feedback from other Cross Junction owners with similar dog types to find your perfect match.

What are Cross Junction's dog hiking trail requirements?

All dogs must have basic vaccinations or titers. Each Cross Junction host may have additional rules on their listing. Most dog hiking trails welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit public dog parks. Adult supervision is required at all times.
