Popular private dog beaches near Gold bar, Washington

Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There is a tetherball on site and numerous other dog toys available as well. Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photo 16 shows a shot of the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are also responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for somene on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry.

Fun spot for dogs to run and play by the river. There was more on-leash time than expected, but worth it! Will be back for sure.

Super fun. The detailed instructions were very helpful. Lots of dead fish by the river, which was of great interest to my pup. Keep in mind that it's a 10-15 min walk to the river if you park at the beginning of the field.

This place is beautiful and so expansive. My pup and her friends loved it! The woods are far from the entrance, so those who do not drive down may spend a while with leashed pups. But I say it's worth it!

Amazing spot, would love to make this a regular visit! Our dogs love water so it was great to get one in before the cold hits!

Another fantastic day at the ranch for Ziba and Maggie. Lots and lots of running, dead salmon to roll in (I regret allowing that now that we’re home), eagles overhead, and a shallow river to explore.

We love this spot. Its absolutely gorgeous. nice and secluded. FYI, It takes about 10-15 min to get to the river once you park, so plan on factoring in a few extra minutes to your stay.

We had an amazing time! Our dogs just loved playing in the river and walking along the river bank. We even saw several fish jumping out of the water, which really intrigued my dogs. It was awesome to be able to visit a spot like this and have the whole side of the river to yourself. Thanks for sharing your space. 🥰

The Sniffspot was lovely! Both the dogs and I enjoyed it. The only place we saw other dogs/people was down at the river. They were across the river and down a ways, so my reactive dog didn’t even notice.

Great spot for puppers who love the water and running around off leash. Nothing bad to say at all, just make sure you have a car that is not small for the off road section. Would book again!!

One of the most beautiful Sniffspot!!! The river side is very scenic and my dog loved running in and out of the water. Its an unfenced property so could not leave him off-leash. We had a great long walk. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go back. This place is perfect if your dog loves water and has a good recall.

So beautiful! Super thankful for this spot, it was so incredible! It's absolutely beautiful, so quiet and serene. Once we got down to the water, we could see some people fishing down river on the other side which was neat! Saw lots of little critters in the water, too. Pup had an amazing time digging in the sand and wading in the water. Definitely want to come back again before fall weather starts happening!

Will definitely book again. Includes a hike and a swim that wore our pup out! Tiny fish were jumping in the water, so it was a beautiful destination for us in addition to being the perfect place for our solitary dog to roam.

We had so much fun at PaJo Ranch today! The river access is great and perfect for dogs who want to splash around. Robin is a great host and responds quickly to messages. She also provided a map of the property which was super helpful. We will definitely come back!

This is our 2nd visit. The river was super high so there was barely any shoreline our 1st time, but this time the water had receded to the perfect level. There was plenty of shoreline to roam and relax. The dogs loved fetching sticks in the cold and refreshing water! We had a great time cooling down on a warm day.

FAQ about our Gold bar dog beaches

Are dog beaches safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by park users so you can find the perfect safe place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars.

How do I know if a dog beach works for my dog?
Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your furry friends. If your dog doesn't respond to owner commands, you can visit one of our enclosed dog park areas. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog beach sites where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. If your dog loves water, you can go to a park with water features, but if they don't love water, you can avoid them. We also recommend reading reviews to check for park maintenance issues and reaching out to the host with any questions. And lastly, of course, check park hours. Many of our parks are open from dawn until dusk.

No. We only allow one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits. So when you book a Sniffspot park you have the entire place to yourself and your dog-owning friends if you invite them. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings so you will not run into other park patrons when coming or leaving.
How much do Sniffspot dog beaches cost?

Can I have an event or party at a dog beach?

Many parks allow doggie birthday parties, training, water parties and other event types. Event organizers need to be responsible for their guests and event organizers should coordinate with the host regarding their fun party. Make sure the park has amenities you need for your party, such as a park with lots of picnic tables with park benches.
