49 licks Dog Park In Central Square

Located 5 minutes from route 81 and the Walmart in Central Square, NY SPRING TRAILS! As the snow melts, you'll find some areas of the trail muddy and slippery. Typically there are some major puddles (though after heavy rains it could be more possible), but mud boots are recommended! Springtime might not be the best if you have knee or back issues- I'd hate for anyone to slip and injure themselves. I highly recommend bringing towels to wipe your dogs feet off after your walk before heading back home. They're going to have LOTS of fun and if they're like my dogs, they'll have muddy paws! 🌳🌲Welcome to 49 Licks dog park🌲🌳 We feel so blessed to call this property our home, and would love for others to experience the beautiful nature we get to enjoy each day. 49 licks includes over 3 1/2 miles of trails, fallen trees to sniff, hills to climb, and ravines to explore. Our 110 acre property is nestled in the woods, 600 fee off of the road with parking near our metal barn at the top of our driveway. We have over a 3 1/2 miles of beautiful trails through hills and trees, with a short and long trail option. The long trail loop is about a 2 miles long and takes 40-60 minutes to walk. The shorter trails approximately 7 of them are closer to 1/3-1/4 mile each We hope your dog(s) enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells throughout the woods- we have wild turkey, deer, many small wild animals to see, and and have him/her/them go home tired, satisfied and happy. This is a completely unfenced property. We ask that all dogs are leashed or have a training collar for recall, as wildlife are abundant on our property. We do have 2 dogs who are contained in a kennel that does not have access to the trails. They are us usually in the house during appointments, at start and end times minimally. As long as your dog does not come into their area, there will be no other dog interactions on our property. 110 acres includes a few acres of open area and the rest Is wooded with approximately 9 trails for a total of 3 1/2 miles of well marked trails. Map available. Backs up to a huge pond area. Ok

60 acres of upstate New York forest just for you!

Greetings! Our land is a mix of flat grass (think lawn), some long/short pasture, and the majority being heavy wooded forest area. You will enjoy some rustic logging trails up there (but please don’t expect a perfect state park-type path). The terrain can be steep to climb to the top depending on your skill level. Once you are at the “top” of the hill, there is “flat” land that you can hike (I’ve even jogged up there -slowly!). For those of you that like a challenge, besides our two pathways up the hill, we offer a very steep side of the hill to climb. One of the photos shows water – that is the case if there is a heavy rain (likely September/October) but please know we don’t always have a running stream. We do offer a hose and bucket to rinse your dog’s feet at the end of the stay. The photos with the leaves are from last year – this is what the property will [hopefully] look like in September/October. November starts getting cold. December will bring snow with some plowed areas. For accessibility: if you use a wheelchair, you can drive your car onto the land and use the flat part of the land if you can access grassy lawn. If there is interest, I can offer to take your dog up the hill to run around for a nominal fee. We are new to this so please ask questions. Consider this spot “forever wild” woods. It is incredibly calm and peaceful up on the hill. You can quietly listen to the woods or bring a radio and sing to your dog loudly. If you are not a climber, even playing fetch behind the barn is nice. Note: inside the barn is off limits. This is a working property and there are tools, tractors, and such that are not good for any animals. Please Remember: there are no fences and we have a state highway in front of our property. All the area that you would use would be set back an appropriate distance, but I want to be clear for everyone sake that there are no fences. If your dog does not come back when called, perhaps this spot isn’t the best for any off-leash activity. Wild Animals: There are deer in the woods (and some dogs love to chase deer!) so please keep that in mind as well. We have also seen rabbits and an occasional skunk, raccoon, fox, groundhogs, and once even a porcupine. We hear coyote sometimes but I have not seen any on our land. Upstate New York has been known to house bobcats, mountain lions, and bears among others, but I have yet to see them on our land as well. We do see bald eagles on occasion.

October 2022
Excellent experience. The yard is easily accessible through a gate and can be seen from the road, so no guesswork about where to go. The yard is relatively level with some shaded areas. The patio is spacious and plenty of seating options. The road is visible from the backyard, and we did hear the neighbors dogs, but didn’t actually see any dogs so after a few barks, our doggos went back to playing. Water was available and PLENTY of things to sniff.

I was able to go within an hour notice and it is a really big fully fenced in backyard that my dog was able to zoom around in. It has all of the good amenities and it's a nice quiet neighborhood. Easy to find gate at the end of the driveway and no one bothered us. I'll definitely be here again!

The yard was perfect and exactly as described. Easy to access and large enough for any sized dog. I have a young puppy and I had no concerns about him being safe as he zoomed around and sniffed every inch of the fence line. Great spot! Highly recommend.

The location was excellent and we did our usual perimeter check on leash before loosing our girls. We felt very secure letting them run free and they had joyous time. There signs of a groundhog or rabbit making holes around the yard that my hound had a blast tracking. Highly recommended, pleasantly exactly what was expected.

I recently visited this spot that has a fantastic area for training dogs, but it also boasts a beautiful patio area for humans to relax and soak up the gorgeous views. Starting with the dog training area, it was clear that this spot was designed with our four-legged friends in mind. You don't have to leave your furry friend behind while you relax - dogs are welcome on the patio, too! Overall, I couldn't recommend this spot enough for dog owners looking for a great training area and a peaceful place to relax.

This is a great, clean and secure, safe place to bring your dogs. My dogs had so much fun exploring all the smells and are so tired now. P.S. you may want to bring bug spray! Thank you for opening your yard to us!!

Today was our 1st visit and definitely won't be the last! My boy had a blast and there was even a doggie pool which he loved. Living in an apartment he doesn't get to run around off leash ever so this was awesome for him. She is a very thoughtful host! There was a table with water, a bowl of treats and tennis balls, wipes, a towel, and poop bags.

Perfect spot to play fetch, chase, and lounge with my girl. The privacy fence was also a bonus for my reactive dog in need of respite and decompression. The host also had everything we needed- chairs, a ball, water, treats, etc. We had a blast!

FAQ about our Syracuse dog parks

Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Syracuse area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 33 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 9 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
