Please note: The main yard is not fenced, making it ideal for dogs with good recall or those using long training lines. Dog & Human Friendly Pool: Want to cool off? We have an awesome pool that both dogs and humans are welcome to swim in! For everyone's peace of mind, the pool area is fully fenced. The remainder of the back yard is not fenced in, but is accessible for well-trained dogs with recall.

Historic and scenic property with natural barriers

I own 11+ acres in West Chester (bordering Downingtown), although I’m currently offering access to the 4.5 acres that is not fully forested. The side of the property you’ll be enjoying has the mill which was built in the 1760s and converted into a home in the 1970s. This strip of land is bordered by a creek on the one side, and a millrace on the other. The millrace is where the water used to run when the mill was operating many moons ago. Both the creek and millrace have water, although the creek has proven to be much more alluring to visiting dogs. The deepest area in the creek is approximately 8ft. There is a bench there for you to sit and enjoy the view while your dog swims in the water. There is another, more private area, where your dog can get easy access to the creek water. I can provide you with a chair to enjoy this area, and will likely already have it there upon your arrival. There are steep embankments for both the creek and the millrace so it would be an effort for your dog to cross them to “escape.” At the end of my 4.5 acre property, the land comes to a peninsula where the millrace and creek meet to become one body of water. This peninsula serves as a natural barrier although my friend’s young German Shepherd did jump out into this water and after a deer on one frightful day. Fortunately, we got him home/back but I think it’s prudent for me to disclose this harrowing event for the safety of your fur baby. There is an outdoor stone patio where you and your pup(s) can relax in the shade. Here you’ll find a filled water dish for your pup(s) to enjoy and a trashcan for your dog waste. If past dog visitors are any indication of future visits, your pup(s) will likely be thirsty from all the exploring, good smells and open land to run and play. I have one of those tennis ball throwing devices that help you throw a ball super far that you’re welcome to use too. I ask that you don’t encourage your pup(s) to chase after the wildlife here, not just for their sake, but for the safety of your pup(s) too. I think the hawks might have put a dent in the small wildlife around here. You won’t see many small animals like squirrels or bunnies, although you are likely to see deer. If your dog is a young/strong “chaser” you might want to visit with a leash. You’ll also find less snuggly wildlife here like snakes and ticks. I ask that you use your best judgement in supervising your dog(s) and be sure to check them for ticks before leaving. Of course at your first visit, I’ll give you a tour of the layout with your dog leashed to ensure your comfortability with the space. I’d ask you to kindly replace the raft in the creek should your visit cause it to pop. For future consideration: I have about 7.5 more acres of land (on the other side of Harmony Hill Rd) that is forested, rather secluded, and also bordered by the creek. Here you’ll find the remnants of the dam that used to feed the mill, and some amazing water landscapes including large rocks and crystal clear water. I’m slowly trying to establish a walking trail in this area but it’s been hard keeping up with all the overgrowth. I’d be open to bartering where you would help cut back the trail overgrowth in exchange for your dog enjoying the forested area.

Our backyard is .25 of an acre including the area that is not fenced in, which you are welcome to use as well if you’d like. Our yard does back up to Whitford hills rd, so please be cautious if you let your dogs off leash in this area. We do tend to get some deer crossing through that part of our yard frequently. The fenced in portion is about 3000 sqft and has lots of natural shade! We have a hose for you to use on the deck along with a small kiddie pool for your pups to cool off in and a water bowl that will be cleaned after each guest. There is an umbrella for shade at the patio table and we will try our best to have the cushions out if the weather is nice. There is also a love seat under the trees for you to enjoy as well. Park anywhere in the driveway and access the yard through the gate at the top of the driveway. We just ask that you pick up your dogs poo if possible (bags provided) and throw away in the trash can by the gate when you leave. We also have lots of herbs and plants on the patio that we ask you to not let your dogs dig at or eat. We do have two dogs, one of which is not crated, so you will hear her barking if we are not home. If you stay on the patio area she will not be able to see you, but totally up to you! We hope you and your fur babies enjoy your time at our spot!

The Dog Park at Bush Hill Farm in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania is a fully-fenced enclosure that requires dogs to be leashed upon entering and exiting, but then allowed off-leash once inside. All dogs must be licensed, vaccinated, and wear a visible dog license. Certain restrictions apply such as no dogs under 4 months of age or female dogs in heat, and choke collars are prohibited. Sorry for the inconvenience! Welcome to our 1 acre fully fenced private dog park! Some quick tips, make sure to look for our brick driveway as some GPS systems will navigate to our neighbors house. The gates are cattle style gates, to enter the backyard lift straight up on the back metal lever and push forward. Our fencing is mostly split rail fencing with some privacy fencing as well. There is wire around the entire perimeter to ensure safety. If you have extra small or toy size dogs I would recommend caution, but the fence is secure. We occasionally hear some dogs barking in our neighborhood, and my dogs on occasion but rarely may bark as well. I would also note that there are a few indoor/outdoor cats in our neighborhood that can be seen from time to time. A couple of further notes to be aware of. First off, this is not a small yard that is perfectly kept with 100% grass coverage. It is a very large field with some large trees especially in the back. Because of that, if we get heavy rain it will likely be a bit soggy, and there might be some spots of mud. This is mostly noticeable in the cooler months, but even in the summer if we get enough rain it is possible. If you have any issues with your dogs running and playing in a large field/wooded environment after heavy rainfall please be aware and schedule accordingly! Another note is there is a train that runs along the back of the house beyond the fence up on the hill. The dogs never seem to mind it though, we actually like it! Other than that, it is a very quiet neighborhood. I hope you enjoy!
