Wildlife is common here, including deer, pheasants, gophers, and other small animals. Our own dogs frequently surprise a pheasant hiding in the grass, so dogs that love using their noses will have plenty to investigate. Because we maintain much of the acreage in its natural state, you’ll encounter tall grasses, native vegetation, burrs, seeds, uneven terrain, and changing conditions throughout the seasons. Gophers are also very active here, which means there are gopher mounds and holes throughout the property. Please watch your footing while exploring, and consider whether the terrain is appropriate for dogs or people with mobility concerns. 3 acres of full fenced area that can be closed off into separate areas (ie: main yard around the house, side yard, and lower pasture) or you can have it completely open and connected to all areas. There are cut and maintained trails in the lower pasture and then many smaller trail systems created by the deers and the dogs. In the summer it is buggy and there are ticks- particularly in the wooded area. I’m working on getting some tiki torches that can be lit when people are exploring the lower pasture. I’ll try and keep some bug spray and a lighter by the entrance to the lower pasture. During July-August is when the horse flies are the worst. Things to know about horse flies- they are attracted to shiny items (the sun hitting a car, rings, watches, dark hair). When it’s hot out, they like to be in the shade and when it’s cooler in the mornings they like to be in the sun. They aren’t deterred by citronella like mosquitos. If you have a dark haired dog I highly recommend using “swat” and applying some to their ears & top of their head, it’s the only thing that keeps them away from my GSD. I will try and keep a container of swat by the entrance to the lower pasture- make sure to wash your hands after applying it. There is also an additional acre-ish in the “arena” that your welcome to explore, however it is partially/poorly fenced and it is connected to the area where the goat pasture is, so if your dog has poor recall or issues with livestock it would be best to keep them on a long line if your going out there.

This is a great little spot with alot of privacy once you are down the hill by the river. There is an open field for the dogs to run and play catch with a mix of grass and sand, There are multiple spots where the dogs and people can get into the water if you wish . I also have a picnic table and some chairs down there to sit and relax at , it is very peaceful and private. I also offer overnight camping for guests for 100 a night , I have a nice large lodge style tent set up overlooking the river , there is a grill picnic table , firepit a couple fishing poles or you could always bring your own. It is not attached to our back yard and is a completely separate and private area. A great place for play dates with others, maybe even a picnic for the humans. Bring your snowshoes if you would like a bit of a workout yourself off trail in the deeper snow! ***2-16-26 the field is in poor conditions due to the frozen ground and warm temperatures. Please watch your footing. Early morning guest the low areas will refreeze and be crazy slippery, later guests need waterproof boots. PLEASE NOTE: Zero tolerance for smoking of ANYTHING while on our property. You may smoke in your own personal vehicle. But also, do NOT leave your dogs unattended. Fill any holes you pup digs and return toy to bin. Also, in the winter months, please be aware that their is no lighting in the field. The designated Sniffspot parking area has ample lighting but none in the field.

The fence is 5 feet tall in the back, 4 feet tall on the sides and front but it does dip down to 3 1/2 feet in a couple areas due to the sloping yard. I do have two dogs but they would be locked in the house while you are here :) The back section of the fence is a horse pasture, so you may see them time to time. Free sticks everywhere to throw ;)
