Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat | 5-Acre Nature Escape

Partially Fenced
5 acres

Welcome to Maplewood Farm Dog Retreat -- a peaceful 5-acre nature escape in south Maplewood near Battle Creek, just minutes from I-94 & McKnight. This is still undeveloped farmland, roughly the size of a city block, tucked into the suburbs, with rolling hills, mature trees, wooded trails, open field space, wildlife scents (ton of bunnies!), and a very different feel from a typical backyard spot. Dogs get room to run, sniff, explore, and decompress -- with off-leash play in the fenced area and more of the property to explore on longer visits. Hoomans can relax in the shade or bring family for a picnic. For history buffs, the property also has the only standing barn in Maplewood, built in 1896 and still in use. QUICK 30-MIN VISITS are great for pups who just need to burn energy, stretch their legs, or take a potty break. The main fenced play area is approx. 60 x 100 ft, with room for off-leash play, fetch, zoomies, a 7-ft spring pole, and the NEW Pup Parkour Platform for climbing, balancing, confidence-building, and play. Lots of balls, frisbees, tug ropes, and poop bags available. Water play includes a popular splash pad, bathing sprayer with doggie shampoo, and a fancy lawn sprinkler with settings for pups who love “eating water” lol! Parking is right next to the gate, with shaded seating and a hammock for the hoomans too -- sometimes suspiciously comfortable. Please remember, you did bring a dog ;) For 30-min visits, please use the fenced area only. The spot is largely SELF-SERVE. Water play should be on and ready when you arrive; please turn ALL water off when it’s not being used and before you leave, since I may not always be home to monitor it. If I’m home, I generally come out briefly to say hello and welcome first-time guests, and only when dogs are in the fenced area. If you have a reactive dog or would simply prefer not to be greeted, please msg me before your visit and I’ll give you your space -- totally fine! Otherwise, don’t wait for me -- come in and enjoy your visit. I keep app notifications on and am good about responding, so msg me anytime if you have a question or need something. For the FULL MAPLEWOOD FARM EXPERIENCE, I recommend booking 1–2 hours. Explore the fenced area, then head through the back gate for a slower long-leash walk through the wooded trails, around the barn and house, and toward the open field. Please remember that outside the fenced area, you’re exploring an active residential/work property, so you may occasionally see me around the house, barn, or property. There are also a couple trolley lines for semi-free roaming; the longer one runs over a road trail. Trolley attachments may be at either end of the line, so check both ends if you don’t see one right away. Signs and a property map in the photos help guide you, but feel free to explore and take whatever route suits you. My pups stay inside during reservations. I live and work on the property, so you may occasionally see me around the house or barn or working in a designated area between them. Any active work area will be coned off -- just give it a little space. This is a natural, dog-friendly space with a manicured feel -- part private dog park, part little nature retreat. Dogs are welcome to explore, climb on logs and wood-chip piles, sniff around, chew or pull on branches, and dig -- even inside the fenced area. I’m not precious about the landscape here, esp since the property may be developed next year. While it’s still here, I want our furry friends to have it and enjoy it. Foster dogs and dogs with physical or sensory challenges are welcome for a steep discount. The spot is open pretty much anytime from early morning to midnight, so you can book around your dog’s energy, the weather, or your own schedule. LED night lights make evening visits easy, and nighttime can be much cooler for pups on hot days. Bug spray available. Supervised campfire use available -- privately message me. As a dog lover and builder, I pay attention to how pups actually use the space and keep adding small improvements and enrichment features as I go. The newest addition is the Pup Parkour Platform -- strongly built from logs and sawn lumber, with ramps, balance beams, climbing surfaces, and colorful stepping stumps for pups of different sizes and confidence levels. Your feedback is im-paw-tant to me! 🐾 🐾 Valeng and paw friends 🐾 🐾

Sara's 5-acre Rugged Training Park In Andover

Unfenced
5 acres

Welcome to our 5-acre rugged training field, the perfect private space for gundog preparation, scent work, and heavy-duty tracking. Please note: This land is strictly for training and exercise only. Absolutely NO hunting or harvesting of wildlife is permitted on the property at any time. If you are looking for a manicured city park, this isn't it! Our land is 100% holistic with zero pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers used, providing a clean, natural environment for your dog. Our raw terrain mimics true field conditions to give your dog an authentic working experience. • Training & Play: Dummy play is highly encouraged! We are currently building a dummy launcher that you will soon be able to use on-site with your own training dummies. • Enclosure & Safety: There is no fencing on this property. It is naturally bordered and enclosed by dense, thick wooded areas and heavy tree lines. Because of this, it is strictly recommended for dogs with an excellent, rock-solid recall or handlers training with long lines and tracking leads. • Wildlife & Scent Profile: This land is highly active! Your dog will encounter fresh bird and game scents from a massive variety of local wildlife, including pheasants, grouse, deer, turkeys, sandhill cranes, rabbits, foxes, moles, voles, and gophers. It provides an unmatched environment for building drive, pointing, or working on steadying your dog around intense natural distractions. • Terrain & Ground Cover: A 5-acre mix of tall brush, dense woods, natural high grass, and uneven dirt trails. Perfect for testing a dog's drive, spatial awareness, and navigation through thick cover. • The Brook Challenge: There is a natural brook on the property, but please note it features a steep incline and dense brush that makes it difficult to access. This provides an excellent, realistic challenge for advanced hunting dogs practicing difficult retrieves or tracking through thick obstacles. • Included Amenities: We provide portable camping chairs that you can carry into the field and return when finished. For basic cleanup, we supply two 5-gallon jugs of water for rinsing off your dog, along with paper water bowls. A trash can is on-site for paper bowls and poop bags only. • Handler Clothing & Pests: We strongly recommend handlers wear long pants due to the thick brush. Like any natural outdoor area, ticks are present, so please ensure your dog is on preventative care and check them afterward. Please bring your own towels for general use. 🎁 Premium Add-On: Warm Water Wash & Rinse Station Want to skip the messy car ride home? You can select our Premium Warm Water Wash Station as an add-on! This outdoor setup features: • A portable propane water heater supplying an adjustable-temperature water source with a hand wand. • A sturdy wash tub, a clean variety of dog shampoos, and fresh towels. • A cemented post to temporarily leash your dog safely while washing. • Handler Responsibility: To keep this clean for the next guest, you are required to wash out the tub afterward and spray it down with the provided sanitizer. 🚗 Directions & Parking Instructions Please note your parking location depends on whether you booked the basic spot or the warm water wash add-on: • Standard Bookings (Private Field Parking): The entrance is on the south side of 181st. Look for the dog silhouette sign pointing directly to a small, private, off-road grassy parking area. This spot is located west of the main driveway and just east of the brook. • Warm Water Wash Bookings (Driveway Parking): If you ordered the warm water wash station in advance, please park directly in the main driveway. The station is hooked up in our driveway turnaround to stay within hose distance of the house spigot. • Leaving the Property: When your session is over, you can safely leash your dog to the post or use the wire kennel to secure them while you walk over to retrieve your vehicle from the parking area.

Kay's 10 Acre Partially Fenced Private Dog Park In Corcoran

Partially Fenced
10 acres

Resident area of property has a securely fenced 10,000 ft area for your use, as well as adjacent grassy unfenced area. For this particular area, enter driveway and turn left onto the driveway running down between the two dog play yards west of the home. You may park behind the house, where there is nearby access to a second less securely fenced area. This parking area behind the house also exits to a pond area and another bigger grassy area that are unfenced. Dependent upon the season and weather, these ponds, small woods, and field area will be available for further exploration. At the point that the path crosses over the creek into a small wooded area, a sign posted will request dogs to be leashed beyond that point, both for safety and for the purpose of avoiding intrusion of the neighbor’s back yard. Various walking paths are cleared through the small woods, after which walkers may double back and complete their trek in the area around Kay and Rick’s barn and residence. Guests and their dogs are welcome to use seating areas in and around the dog play area. Feel free to approach family members if a bathroom is needed, or if a drink of water is needed. Dog watering station will be available. Dog FI tracking collar may be available upon request.

10 Beautiful Acres with River 12 minutes from Hudson WI

Fully Fenced
18 acres

5/15/26 update: All paths are mowed, field entrance to drive in is now available (unless heavy rain, then their may be orange cones in the drive) In that case PARK only at the barn/field entrance and walk in. Traffic - To the spot the drive has no major road work slowing you down but LEAVING through Hudson can have long back ups. Please check your maps for delays or other routes. ***Also, it is tick season, do check your dog! This is a beautiful piece of land with a (mostly) fenced perimeter and 1/3 acre fully fenced doggy play area. If you drive in by the picnic table you are in the center of 18 acres to play on and will be quite a distance from the road. There are mowed walking paths to the beautiful Kinnickinnic river, far away from other people and animals. You and your dog will both love it here! The river is cold, clean and easy for dogs to hop in and out, also humans but a bit muddy at the easiest entrance. If you want to keep them out of the water there is about 10 acres of open field where you park, separate and above the river so you don't need to have them down by the water at all. (although most dogs gravitate to there!) Good idea to bring towels although some dogs dry off by the time they run back to the car! We love sharing the space, thank you for review pics!

Frequently asked questions about Apple Valley dog hiking trails

Why are private dog hiking trails better than public dog parks in Apple Valley?

Private dog hiking trails in Apple Valley eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Apple Valley's 15 private dog hiking trails offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.

How safe are Apple Valley dog hiking trails compared to public dog parks?

Apple Valley dog hiking trails are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Apple Valley dog hiking trails eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.

Are Apple Valley dog hiking trails safe for reactive dogs?

Apple Valley owners of reactive dogs choose dog hiking trails because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy natural exploration and varied terrain while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Apple Valley reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.

Can anxious dogs safely use Apple Valley dog hiking trails?

Yes! Apple Valley dog hiking trails provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment at their own pace without stress. Many Apple Valley dog hiking trails offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.

Are Apple Valley dog hiking trails good for small dogs?

Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Apple Valley dog hiking trails because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Apple Valley avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog hiking trails eliminate that worry. Filter for appropriate sizing, secure fencing with no gaps, and hosts who understand petite pup needs.

Do Apple Valley dog hiking trails work for senior dogs?

Yes! Senior dogs thrive at Apple Valley dog hiking trails because they can move at their own pace without being knocked over by rambunctious puppies or young dogs. Look for Apple Valley dog hiking trails with flat terrain, easy access, shade, and smaller sizes if your senior has mobility limitations. The privacy means your older dog can rest when needed and enjoy gentle exercise without stress.

What do Apple Valley dog owners say about dog hiking trails?

Reviews of Apple Valley dog hiking trails consistently highlight: excellent privacy for all dog types, secure fencing that prevented escapes, clean and well-maintained spaces, responsive hosts, and safe environments for anxious, fearful, reactive, senior, and small dogs. Local favorite Poppy's Play Prairie: 15 acres of fun! is particularly praised in Apple Valley. Read reviews to see real experiences from Apple Valley dog owners with similar needs.

How clean and maintained are Apple Valley dog hiking trails?

Apple Valley hosts maintain their own dog hiking trails and take pride in providing excellent experiences. All guests must have vaccinated dogs (or titers). Many Apple Valley hosts provide poop bags, trash cans, and regular cleaning. Reviews highlight maintenance quality—browse Apple Valley dog hiking trail listings to see real feedback about cleanliness and upkeep.
