Pig Beach (near Port Ludlow)

Fully Fenced
0.63 acres

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). With that said, a 8 ft tide still gives you approximately 20 feet x 300 feet of beach to roam so you pup still has some room to explore and 9ft is approximately 10 feet x 30 feet. You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

Frequently asked questions about Burlington dog beaches

What do private dog beaches in Burlington offer that public parks don't?

Private dog beaches in Burlington offer complete privacy (no other dogs), specialized environments for swimming and beach activities, professionally maintained cleanliness, flexible 24/7 scheduling, and safe spaces for all temperaments—puppies, seniors, small dogs, reactive dogs, or any pup needing accommodations. Public dog parks in Burlington can't guarantee any of this. With 5 options, you get predictable, controlled environments perfect for your dog's specific needs.

Can I find fully fenced private dog parks in Burlington?

Yes! Most of Burlington's 5 private dog parks are fully fenced. Use the "fully fenced" filter to find secure enclosures with detailed specs: height (4ft, 6ft, 8ft+), material (wood, chain-link, vinyl), and gap information. This is crucial for escape artists, puppies learning boundaries, reactive dogs needing contained space, or small dogs who might squeeze through. Burlington listings include fencing photos so you can verify security.

When can puppies start visiting dog beaches in Burlington?

Puppies can visit Burlington dog beaches as early as 8-10 weeks with initial vaccinations, much earlier than the 16+ weeks needed for public park safety. This early, controlled socialization prevents fear and reactivity issues later. Plus, puppies can explore swimming and beach activities without being overwhelmed or learning bad behaviors from poorly socialized adult dogs. Many Burlington trainers specifically use dog beaches for puppy development.

How do I find private dog beaches near me in Burlington?

Browse Burlington's 5 dog beaches on Sniffspot by entering your neighborhood or zip code. Filter by distance, then narrow by features: fully fenced, "fewer dogs seen/heard," specific amenities, terrain type, or size. Each Burlington listing shows photos, reviews, exact location, and instant availability. Local favorite Tripper's Creekside Fenced Park 5.9Acre RAIN SHELTER & FULL LIGHTS for After Dark Water Training Obstacles Picnic Table Chairs is particularly popular among Burlington dog owners.

Can I rent dog beaches in Burlington by the hour?

Yes! All 5 dog beaches in Burlington are available for hourly rental. Most bookings are 1-2 hours, though you can reserve longer for training or events. Book instantly through Sniffspot, arrive during your time slot, and have complete privacy. Many Burlington dog owners rent weekly for consistent, safe exercise.

What's the difference between Sniffspot dog beaches and public dog parks in Burlington?

The biggest difference is privacy and control. Public dog parks in Burlington mean sharing space with unknown dogs and owners. That means you can't control who shows up or how they behave. Sniffspot's 5 Burlington dog beaches give you private bookings where only your dogs are present. You choose the time, the space, and the environment. Plus, your pup enjoys swimming and beach activities and maintained cleanliness that public parks can't guarantee.

Are there indoor dog beaches in Burlington?

Yes! Burlington has climate-controlled indoor dog beaches perfect for extreme weather, rainy days, or year-round exercise. Indoor Burlington locations typically feature protective flooring, controlled temperatures, and enclosed environments. They're especially popular for puppy training, senior dogs, reactive dogs, or anyone wanting consistent access regardless of Burlington weather. Filter by "indoor" to see options.

How do Burlington dog beaches help with dog training?

Burlington trainers love dog beaches because privacy eliminates distractions. Work on recall, practice water entry and exit practice, beach recall with distractions, or sand terrain conditioning, reinforce obedience, socialize puppies, or address reactivity without interruptions. For reactive dogs, train without trigger-stacking. For puppies, practice skills in controlled increments. For any dog, get focused training time in an environment specifically designed for swimming and beach activities.
