20 Acre Unfenced Private Dog Park In Stem, NC

Unfenced
20 acres

Imagine Disneyland for your dog! We have 20 acres of open land, perfect for your furry friend to run and play. It's a secluded open-space forest where they can get plenty of exercise and even enjoy the nearby creek. I hope your pup enjoys this open forest as much as mine does! **Please be aware even though we try our best to maintain the fence between us and our neighbors property, there might be some new holes we have not had time to get to. It is recommended that your dog has good recall in case they get distracted by the neighbors’ horses or they are tempted to Go through a hole. PLEASE BE AWARE** This is a rural area, and it is possible that neighbors may occasionally be shooting on their property. While this does not happen often, I wanted to let you know this is a possibility.

Mimms's 25 Acre Partially Fenced Private Dog Park In Angier

Partially Fenced
25 acres

Hidden River Farm is a 40 plus acre paradise for humans and dogs. We opened our organic orchard 6 years ago and it operates annually from June to October. So we have decided to try to open it up for use year around if possible. We welcome folks to bring their dogs out to run, retrieve, train or just play for awhile to get the energy out. There is an abundance of land. We offer a picnic area with table and chairs. Both tables offer umbrellas for shade if needed. We have water spigots so that the dogs can have clean drinking water. We also are breeders of Champion Labrador Retrievers. We have chickens, ducks, donkeys, horse and more. We are a working farm that believes sharing is a great thing these days.

55This was such a good Sniffspot! I would recommend wearing pants/hiking boots/shoes since some parts are overgrown. Not too much that you couldn’t get through but enough to make you not want to go through if you’re wearing shorts. My dog loved running around and exploring the woods and splashing around in the creek that runs through the property. It felt secluded enough that I think a reactive dog would be okay to explore here. You could hear louder cars but we did not hear or see other people or dogs. I did not encounter any wildlife but it would not surprise me if you ran into deer, so keep that in mind if your dog chased after them and can’t recall perfectly.

55Craig is a prompt and wonderful communicator who owns a special piece of land in a convenient and easy to get to place in Durham. Our two Border Collie ran and ran until they were too tired to run any longer. Unfortunately, due to the drought and high temperatures of this early part of summer there was no water for them to drink or cool off in as the creeks were dry. We cannot wait to return after some heavy rain falls.

55Awesome spot with lots of trails to explore! My pup LOVED it. Could hear a couple of dogs barking in the distance but not a problem at all for my dog since she couldn’t see them. There was a cat sunning in the gravel driveway when we pulled up, but he ran away as soon as we parked. Keep an eye out for poison Ivy though, it’s all over.

55Expansive, super close to downtown Durham, relatively remote (there are some close neighbors, but again, SUPER close to downtown). Cleared trails too which was really nice so the humans could enjoy it too :) I loved the pine area. We did hear one other dog bark once or twice, but it was super minimal. And saw deer! Craig was great about communication, was prompt and detailed so it made our first Sniffspot experience low stress. It was humid as heck so we didn't stay the full hour but our doggos has a blast.

Expansive, super close to downtown Durham, relatively remote (there are some close neighbors, but again, SUPER close to downtown). 55Private, quiet property. Didn't see any people or dogs. There weren't any established trails I could find, but it was easy enough to roam around through the woods and open areas. My dog enjoyed exploring. The road is in rough shape and does currently require a vehicle with high clearance but I had no problem in a Subaru Outback.

Frequently asked questions about Durham dog hiking trails

Where can I find dog hiking trails in Durham?

Durham has 18 private dog hiking trails available through Sniffspot, offering natural exploration and varied terrain in completely private settings. These locations range from compact spaces to properties spanning 180+ acres. Whether you need a space for your reactive dog, puppy socialization, senior dog gentle exercise, or high-energy play, Durham dog hiking trails provide safe, private environments. Filter for "fewer dogs seen/heard," specific amenities, or fencing types to find your perfect match.

How many dog hiking trails are in Durham?

Durham offers 18 dog hiking trails ranging from compact spaces to properties spanning acres. You'll find options such as dog field, fully fenced dog park, dog agility park, and more. Each Durham dog hiking trail listing shows detailed photos, amenities, fencing specs, and reviews from local dog owners.

Are Durham dog hiking trails good for all dog types?

Yes! Durham dog hiking trails work for every dog: puppies learning socialization, senior dogs needing gentle exercise, small dogs who feel safer without large breeds, high-energy dogs requiring space, and reactive or anxious dogs needing privacy. The completely private bookings mean each dog gets the environment they need. Browse Durham's 18 options to find spaces matching your dog's specific temperament and needs.

Will I encounter other dogs at Durham dog hiking trails?

Not a chance. Durham dog hiking trails operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Durham owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.

Are Durham dog hiking trails safe for fearful or anxious dogs?

Yes! Durham dog hiking trails provide controlled, predictable environments without the chaos of public dog parks. Since bookings are completely private with 30-minute buffers, anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment without overwhelming encounters. Many Durham dog owners specifically choose dog hiking trails for fearful dogs who need gentle, stress-free exercise environments.

Can puppies use Durham dog hiking trails?

Absolutely! Durham dog hiking trails are excellent for puppy socialization because they're private and controlled. Puppies can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment, practice recall, and build confidence without the overwhelming chaos that can create fear or reactivity in young dogs. Just ensure your puppy has age-appropriate vaccinations before visiting.

How do I choose the best dog hiking trail in Durham?

Start by filtering Durham's 18 dog hiking trails for your specific needs: secure fencing for escape artists, "fewer dogs seen/heard" for reactive dogs, flat terrain for seniors, appropriate sizing for small dogs, or specific amenities for training. Look for "Top Spots" like Durham's Country Fun Near Brier Creek with excellent reviews.Read feedback from other Durham owners with similar dog types to find your perfect match.

What are Durham's dog hiking trail requirements?

All dogs must have basic vaccinations or titers. Each Durham host may have additional rules on their listing. Most dog hiking trails welcome all breeds, sizes, and temperament levels, including reactive dogs who can't safely visit public dog parks. Adult supervision is required at all times.
