55This was such a good Sniffspot! I would recommend wearing pants/hiking boots/shoes since some parts are overgrown. Not too much that you couldn’t get through but enough to make you not want to go through if you’re wearing shorts. My dog loved running around and exploring the woods and splashing around in the creek that runs through the property. It felt secluded enough that I think a reactive dog would be okay to explore here. You could hear louder cars but we did not hear or see other people or dogs. I did not encounter any wildlife but it would not surprise me if you ran into deer, so keep that in mind if your dog chased after them and can’t recall perfectly. Christina C.

55Craig is a prompt and wonderful communicator who owns a special piece of land in a convenient and easy to get to place in Durham. Our two Border Collie ran and ran until they were too tired to run any longer. Unfortunately, due to the drought and high temperatures of this early part of summer there was no water for them to drink or cool off in as the creeks were dry. We cannot wait to return after some heavy rain falls.Wendi G.

55We were so happy to find such a great location that is close enough for us to come back. Zuzu absolutely loved getting to explore around the trails, and the natural landscape makes the property feel secure and enclosed despite it not officially being fenced in. We will be back again soon!Molly M.

55Awesome spot with lots of trails to explore! My pup LOVED it. Could hear a couple of dogs barking in the distance but not a problem at all for my dog since she couldn’t see them. There was a cat sunning in the gravel driveway when we pulled up, but he ran away as soon as we parked. Keep an eye out for poison Ivy though, it’s all over. Lauren R.

55Expansive, super close to downtown Durham, relatively remote (there are some close neighbors, but again, SUPER close to downtown). Cleared trails too which was really nice so the humans could enjoy it too :) I loved the pine area. We did hear one other dog bark once or twice, but it was super minimal. And saw deer!
Craig was great about communication, was prompt and detailed so it made our first Sniffspot experience low stress.
It was humid as heck so we didn't stay the full hour but our doggos has a blast. Erin O.

55My newish rescue dog got a little nervous so we had to leave early ❤️ it was nice to explore and no other people or animals visible. She had a lot of fun jumping over the stream! It was nice to practice off leash recall here, too. To really elevate it defined long walking trails would be a dream!! I know that may not be possible though. Thank you so much for allowing us today! ☀️Liz S.

55Private, quiet property. Didn't see any people or dogs. There weren't any established trails I could find, but it was easy enough to roam around through the woods and open areas. My dog enjoyed exploring. The road is in rough shape and does currently require a vehicle with high clearance but I had no problem in a Subaru Outback. Hillary P.

Will I encounter other dogs at Durham dog hiking trails?
Not a chance. Durham dog hiking trails operate on a strict one-booking-at-a-time system, so the space is entirely yours during your reserved slot. Host dogs are kept away, and there's a mandatory 30-minute buffer between bookings—meaning you won't cross paths with the previous or next guest. For Durham owners with reactive dogs, puppies, or any dog needing privacy, this makes all the difference in providing safe, stress-free exercise.
