“Arite is about 3 1/5 years old as of Oct. 15 2025 when we adopted him. He is a good clam dog, with moderate energy. He is a livestock guardian dog so he is always on the lookout to intruders. He is moderately reactive to other dogs. He doesn't do tricks or fetch. He isn't food motive. He was stray most of his younger life and about 2 years old he was brough to a shelter by a farmer. He has been adopted once before us but returned. He is lean and tall and very loving. He just wants to feel safe. He loves a gentle and loving soft approach to commands. Because of his size, I don't think he got much of that. He responses to woman better then men. He fears thunderstorms and gunshots. I think he was mistreated when he was younger and also shot at. We love having him as part of our family and showing him security and safety. We have an estimated age for him.“

“Artie is one of the chillest dogs you’ll ever meet. He is a 67 year old rescue from Naperville, he loves playing with his tennis balls or wrestling with his little sister. His hobbies include napping, waiting for any food to drop during dinnertime, and chasing the squirrels on the fence.“

“Artie is a 10mo. Mudi ("Moody") puppy. He is very high energy and is OBSESSED with playing fetch.“

“I am a silly boy with a giant heart - I may look scary when you see me at first, but that is how my mom taught me to smile and greet new friends. I am the fastest boy in town, try to catch me!“
— Katie J.
“I love being outdoors and playing fetch. I like exploring and sniffing all the things.“
— Sara F.
“artie is very anxious and has an extensive history of neglect and abuse. he takes a bit to warm up to new people and animals, but once he does he loves to snuggle and play! he has tons of energy for a dog his age, and he also loves to take nap breaks :)“
— Quinn M.
“Artie is a big, mellow guy. He loves to amble and explore new places and smells. He loves people but can be wary of new dogs, when on leash or through a fence. Off leash he’s fine with dogs and is a good communicator, although he’s quite aloof. He’d rather take in all the smells instead of playing.“

“I’m finally in my forever home after a rough early life on the streets. I’m learning how to be friends with a tiny cat and still learning that other dogs won’t hurt me again. My mom is my best friend.“
— Aalia V.
“I am most passionate about squirrels. I have not caught one yet, but I will someday!“
— Aaron M.
“After 14 months in foster care (and an unknown amount of time at a shelter down south) I’m finally in my forever home where I live snuggles, tug, and a shocking amount of treats. My person says that not everyone in the apartment building wants to be kissed by a giant dog so I’m hoping that they’ll see I’m actually a lapdog in a giant body. We’re working on leash skills, recall, and basic training and I’m learning really fast. Thank you for providing a safe space for me to work on my skills off leash!“

“Hi! My Name is Artie, short for Artichoke. I am a 4 year old Sheltie. The pandemic has hit me hard for socializing. My mom tried when I was a puppy to socialize me but it’s been hard because I’m really scared of everything. I am a good boy but I do talk a lot. Barking and running is my favourite!!“
— Masen G.
“I still have lots of puppy energy and love to run and chase, and also eat anything I can get my mouth on.“
— Chanel G.
“Hi, my name's Artie! My mama Jency and my daddy Zachary work hard to make sure I'm fed, exercised, trained, played, happy, and snuggled everyday. I would do best in a fenced, private SniffSpot while I work on my manners, training, and recall! Even better would be somewhere to swim!“
— Jency D.
“Big boi red Japanese Akita! Middle aged in doggy years, loves feeling independent (aka no leash!) during walks, playing with tennis balls, and being outdoors! Loves all humans, very friendly, good recall, but reactive to other dogs if they get too close. Can’t wait to explore new places!“
— Cecilia J.
“My mom says I’m goofy all the time but I’m just trying to live my life“
