“Hi! I’m Augie! I’m a little nervous, but I’m very sweet and I try my hardest to be brave. I had a pretty rough start - I had been kept in a cage and not fed much when the humane society people found me, but with the help of my two new humans, I’m feeling much better and am learning to trust again. I LOVE blueberries and green beans, playing with squeaky balls and big stuffed animals, and going for car ride adventures with my humans.“

“Augie is an awesome guy, the smartest dog I’ve ever known, and my best buddy but he’s had some difficulties in his 8 years. He and his siblings were found on the side of a road in Texas. All were malnourished and had mange. Augie was the smallest of the litter and the worst off. The shelter that took them in nursed all of them back to health. He never had a lot of fur (I was told it was due to the severe mange), and as he got older the fur he did have began to fall out, but only the black fur. I later found out he has a genetic disorder that caused this, and it was not due to mange. Two years ago he also suffered a detached retina, which caused a lot of pain, and ended with it having to be removed. So now he only has a (beautiful) mane of white fur around his neck and chest, just like a lion. He also has a large tuft of white fur at the end of his tail that always reminds me of something out of a Dr. Seuss book. He recovered well from the enucleation and although he is not as good at it as he used to be, still loves playing catch with his favorite squeaky ball.“

“I’m 16 months old and moved in with my parents at 10 weeks old. We have so much fun together. I got my Good Manners, CGC, CGCA/U certificates, I do agility and will work on getting Pet Therapy certified with Alliance of Therapy Dogs. I’m white and beautiful.“
— Kathy S.
“Just a playful guy who is my service dog and loves to get out and run around“
— Alice P.
“I’m a big fella at 125lbs. I’m definitely friendly and love to explore new areas. I’m still unsure about swimming but my hoomans say it’s safe and I won’t sink. I’m working on not being afraid. I’m good with other doggies too.“
— Annmarie B.
“I’m an absolute lunatic and love human attention. I also want to meet your dog but until my mom is sure I am not going to be a jerk, I’m not allowed to ☹️ I was uninterested in other dogs at the shelter, but I was also drugged to the gills and I’m just now starting to come out of my shell and settle into my new life. I’m young, fully vaccinated, extremely strong, and sorta like a bull in a china shop ❤️“

“I’m a VERY playful and handsome German Shepherd, that just loves to play play play, all day day day.“
— Allen P.
“I’m a three year old (2/15/2023) rescue from Alabama. MSPCA says I’m a “Lab Mix” but my vet says “anybody’s guess”.“
— Gene H.
“Hi, my name is Augie, and I am a very handsome, very thoughtful dog with a big heart and an even bigger tail wag. I like to keep an eye on my people, especially when something important is happening, like shower safety, snack time, or suspicious noises outside. I am calm, loyal, and deeply committed to being near the people I love, usually by leaning my whole body into them to make sure they know I am there. I may look serious sometimes, but I am actually very sweet, very cozy, and always ready to help, supervise, or gently alert my mom when something needs her attention.“

“Sweet dog, loves to sniff and explore. I adopted him from a German shepherd rescue in PA when he was 7. He’s 10 now. Best dog I ever had. He is a true gentleman.“
— Lisa L.
“My name is Augie but my human sometimes calls me Augs. I am a dobby "yellow" lab meaning I have a reddish nose and I am more white than yellow. My favorite game is to be chased by other dogs but I don't get to do this much any more. Because I don't get to go to Red Bud Isle any more due to some algae in the water whatever that is. Other things I like are playing with the little kids who come and visit me, eating turkey, my stuffed animals and smelling every thing.“
— Tom J.
“Augie is a sweet and energetic girl who will do anything for a tennis ball or a belly rub.“
— Meredith H.
“Augie is an easygoing, chill, happy boy. He enjoys hiking, long walks (preferably in cold/cooler climate), and so enjoys his time spent at doggie day care among his canine friends. He also loves riding in the car...head out the window is a must. Augie is dog friendly, but picky with his choice of playmates. He is slow warming up to humans, but finds them very interesting lol“
