“Hello! My name is Roxanne. I look like a mix between a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a boxer, but we don’t know for sure. My parents also don’t know how old I am, so we celebrate the day my dog dad found me living outside in southern Texas in 2013. I love to run, play tug of war, and peanut butter is my favorite treat. I feel safest when I’m with my dad, or under my favorite blanket.“
— Lauryn A.
“Hi, I'm Roxy! I love to smell EVERYTHING and explore. Little animals in nature make me excited and so do regular pets. I talk alot and I tend to scare people and other dogs but mean no harm. I LOVE kids and am too darn excited to meet people to not jump. Mom has been working on that for 3 years with me, and I sit for a second but just CAN'T control myself and start to jump again. I am a Border Collie/Lab mix. Also, I hope you like kisses!“

“Roxy is a Dachshund x Black Labrador Retriever mix who is an ex-stock dog. She worked on a ranch with me for a 3 year career herding chickens, goat and cattle. She was retired early and now is a senior dog enjoying life! She was also a master at ratting our barns so while out on our SniffSpot, she may do some “pest control” for you. If she does, I’ll be sure to let you know if rats were found and culled on property. *Roxy is dog & people selective. She is a ”no nonsense” type of gal with a great ‘off switch’. She has helped me raise multiple dogs through puppyhood into adulthood and even put raising a cat under her belt. She knows who her people are and by experience working with dangerous cattle while I tended to stock, she will bark consistently to alert me to people, dogs or livestock while I have my back turned. As to say, you can take the dog out of the work, but she still has working qualities that linger even now at 12 years old. Roxy is not reactive but will bark to keep me aware of surroundings due to her working past. *Roxanne does NOT want to say “hi” to strangers or people as she is a retired working stock dog who- again, is a “no nonsense gal”. Let me know if you have any questions about Roxy.“

“I'm a mystery girl from the shelter. I think I'm a 3-4-yr old Australian Shepherd mix, and my people and their dogs only adopted me in December 2023 after I'd been in foster with them for nearly a year. Before that, I was found wandering around in Healdsburg, and I can't remember how I got there. But something bad must have happened, because I'm absolutely terrified at the mere prospect of being touched by a person. No-one has touched me in over a year, because I won't let them. My people were able to get a collar on me, and I will let them put a leash on me and take me for walks and other adventures, which I appreciate. But no-one must touch me; at least not until I'm ready, if ever. In the meantime, my people have promised to look after me, and we're all getting along just fine as long as no-one attempts to touch me. I'm OK with my brothers and sister though; sometimes we play and wrestle a little bit, as I try very hard to figure out how to be a dog again, and put whatever happened to me - and its sad legacy - behind me. Don't worry; I'm not aggressive (unless cornered), and I try to show my affection in all sorts of ways that don't involve touching. I'm not nasty at all, and I don't look for trouble. I just want people to give me some space as I try to figure out how to get over my fear. I do hope you'll help me by letting me accompany my people and my sister and brothers onto your property so we can all play together for a little while. Thank you!“
