Tail Waggers private dog park

Unfenced
15 acres

Your attendance has allowed us to continue development of our Disney Land for dogs and being a contributor to the Portland Humane Society. Toward that end this is what we have to offer at present with more to come. Two main walking trails, with two offshoot trail loops at present. Signage is there at each to help you in and out of each. Each has a selection of walking sticks at the trailhead, should you choose to use them. Appropriate good grip footwear is recommended especially during our monsoon season. Trail one, the shorter of the two, is about 25 minutes give or take, and takes a degree of dexterity more than trail too. Trail two contains two loops trails that take 30 to 45 minutes there and back to the parking area. The trail has two rest areas to sit with umbrellas to keep the rain off when needed. Trail 2, loop two has large Vern plant areas like you may have seen in the Jurassic Park movies. There are (2) Two parking areas, one much larger for up to 25 cars to accommodate larger group events. The 2nd is at the top of the hill b4 you go down into valley were you will see a sign letting you know that if your early you can park there till your designated reservation time. At the bottom you will find a porta potty for your convenience with a lighted pathway after the sun has set. For your convenience you will find seven Poop Depots with bag dispensers throughout the park. A guest ( Mark) donated a fire hydrant as a much appreciated pee station for many pups. There are two water play areas. The preferable one is now down by our inlet water pipes. Its a shallow pool area feed by spring water, so there is no concern about algae. We call it the pup self wash area because it’s only belly deep and is an absolute favorite of the pups to play in. It’s also proved to help pups who might be afraid or timid of playing in water to investigate it a little more. The other is the larger man-made pond area. This at one time was a large beautiful pond, that we had invested a large amount of money to development a Doggie Dock Dive. We had also a selection of small watercraft to help acclimate pups to being on the water with a parent. It included a selection of different size lifejackets for parents and pups. Floatable toys for retrieval were nearby. All that however became unusable because our neighbor who controls the water level with a dam did not like us having a private dog park and said if we didn’t shut it down he would just empty the pond, which he ultimately did and mow as a result has become a mud flat. We have a solution that will bring the level back up and have set up a Go Fund Me to help us with that expense. Any donation would receive a gift certificate to show our appreciation. They can use it for their own use or it can be given to a non Sniff Spot member to use at our park for various functions. Our Muddy Paw Spa has multiple cleaning brushes, paw wash cups, a spray hose and the more favorite is a water spray wash glove that sprays water out of the palm of the glove. This is an important option especially during our monsoon season to clean pups and shoes before getting into the car. Included, are multiple towels to dry off your pup, and a close line to hang the wet towels on to dry off. In the area where you see all the picnic tables, you will see a Doggie Dig Box filled with beach sand for those pups who have the need to just dig. Near to that is an upright 50 Pd “Tug of War” that big pups love. Next is a childrens play area to play in and on. We installed a tetherball for the children, but soon learned that the pups love playing with it, who would have guessed? Down from the children’s play area is a comprehensive agility course with all the obstacles that you would see on the YouTube obstacle course events. Love seeing the pups racing around that. Multiple toy stations. If on your visit, you would like to donate unused toys for other pups to enjoy that would certainly be appreciated. A long mowed area above the pond for long distance ball and frisbee retrieval. They’re also a few frisbee catchers there to practice frisbee throwing accuracy. Long, medium range and putter frisbees are provided. A 10 x 10 doggy dig sandbox for those pups to enjoy digging. A tug-of-war for those pups will enjoy a good tug. The picnic area has been expanded to accommodate pup, birthday parties, pup, groups, and family gatherings. For those bringing young children, a swingset. Solar lighting around trees, parking area and the porta potty will help to illuminate these areas when darkness falls. There are water dispensers with water bowls. There is another area being developed presently that will become an urban agility course.

Please reserve your time a minimum of an hour ahead of time. We are a working farm and can't always be checking the app. We have logging roads and fields open to dog owners. Enjoy our scenic 120-acre farm with your puppies. Please feel free to leave a review. The landscape is unmanicured and slightly wild with quail, rabbits, and deer frequenting the area daily. A new forest has been planted, and the baby trees we ask to be left at peace to grow. We might be out working somewhere else on the farm and hope to see the blackberries slowly diminish, making this place more hospitable every year.

Nehemiah lane dog farm

Unfenced
30 acres

The property includes 30 unfenced acres of tall grass, trees, and quiet trails. The main trail makes up the perimeter of the property. It is 1 mile long and you will need to traverse underneath the bridge to Accsess the second half. There is limited access to the Yamhill River on both sides of the bridge. Some areas will be swampy during the winter and spring, especially in the lower sections. Please be aware of common forest hazards such as blackberry bushes, poison oak, nettles, and the occasional downed tree. There are no homes, restrooms or residents on the property only neighbors and a small garden area. You are welcome to explore both sides of the bridge. While there are "No Trespassing" signs posted near it, they are only intended to discourage the local homeless community. During the summer and fall, feel free to enjoy the fruit growing throughout the property most of which is at the far NW end of the grass road near the entrance. Deer and a variety of birds also call this place home and are best left undisturbed. You will find a couple of chairs and a small table set out for you to enjoy a quiet moment or watch the sunset. Please be respectful of our neighbors and remember to pick up after yourself and your dogs. Much of the property is being reforested in partnership with the USDA. / NRCS and is intentionally wild. If you bring kids feel free to use the swings at your own risk. Have a great time, Joshua

55Wow! Wait an amazing place this is! The parking is great and is easy access to the trails. The trails are so well groomed and great because I felt like I got a bit of a hike as well! The space is very safe and really incredible, perfect for trail training on dogs that are learning recall on open trails. Also for dogs that are nervous around other dogs or animals, I saw one goat, but it was secured above the trails and none of the dogs even saw it. Great benches along the trails for sitting and just taking in the beauty of this forest. The dogs still run while you rest! Water is supplied at the top of the trails. And bonus for you...fresh eggs for purchase next to the parking spots! and marigold seeds! This place is amazing and I am so thankful that people like Luke and his family share their space with people like me that need it!

I was happy to have cell service there too since I was waiting on a work call. The property is amazing with multiple steep trails. Zane loved the creek and the small field for us to play ball. Dog mom loved the multiple seating areas on the trails to take a quick rest. 10/10!

55Even if you arrive a bit late, even by 15 min, the area is challenging enough to get a good work out for both you and your dog. Though arriving on time allows you to rest and enjoy yourselves while you can catch your breath. I would say that the terrain is challenging at times. Walking poles may be needed. Especially if abilities are different.

55It’s a nature lovers paradise. A private piece of beautiful Oregon Forest with groomed trails that parallels and crosses a beautiful river. We enjoyed it so much we’ve already booked our next visit. This is our new #1 destination.

55Had a great time as usual. A note for dogs with noise sensitivity or who run from loud noises - the neighbor was shooting at something and it was LOUD. It was unexpected and startled us - and it also echoed. It was loudest right at the entrance and the noise faded the further down the gravel road we went.

55Love that there are multiple trails and they are generally rolling - not straight up or straight down like lots of places. The whole place is very inviting.

Frequently asked questions about Carlton dog hiking trails

Why are private dog hiking trails better than public dog parks in Carlton?

Private dog hiking trails in Carlton eliminate major public park risks: unpredictable dog encounters that scare puppies, aggressive dogs that trigger reactive behavior, chaotic crowds that overwhelm seniors or small dogs, and disease transmission from dozens of unknown dogs. Carlton's 23 private dog hiking trails offer complete privacy, professionally maintained cleanliness, and controlled environments. Whether you have a fearful puppy, a reactive adult, a fragile senior, or simply want peace of mind, private bookings give you control.

How safe are Carlton dog hiking trails compared to public dog parks?

Carlton dog hiking trails are significantly safer than public facilities. Public dog parks risk: aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission, overcrowding that triggers reactive behaviors or injuries. Private Carlton dog hiking trails eliminate these concerns—bookings are completely private, all guests have vaccinated dogs (or titers), and hosts maintain clean spaces. 93% of Sniffspot reviews are 5 stars.

Are Carlton dog hiking trails safe for reactive dogs?

Carlton owners of reactive dogs choose dog hiking trails because they offer safe, private environments for off-leash exercise without the triggers of public dog parks. Complete privacy means no unexpected dog encounters, no overwhelming chaos, no aggressive dogs. Reactive dogs can finally enjoy natural exploration and varied terrain while building confidence in a controlled setting. Many Carlton reactive dog owners say Sniffspot is their only safe exercise option.

Can anxious dogs safely use Carlton dog hiking trails?

Yes! Carlton dog hiking trails provide controlled environments perfect for anxious or fearful dogs. No other dogs means no triggers, no overwhelming situations. Anxious dogs can explore a natural outdoor path where dogs can explore varied terrain off-leash in a safe, private environment at their own pace without stress. Many Carlton dog hiking trails offer quiet, spacious settings ideal for building confidence in nervous dogs who struggle at chaotic public dog parks.

Are Carlton dog hiking trails good for small dogs?

Absolutely! Small dogs benefit enormously from Carlton dog hiking trails because they can explore without fear of being trampled or intimidated by larger breeds. Many small dog owners in Carlton avoid public parks entirely due to safety concerns—dog hiking trails eliminate that worry. Filter for appropriate sizing, secure fencing with no gaps, and hosts who understand petite pup needs.

Do Carlton dog hiking trails work for senior dogs?

Yes! Senior dogs thrive at Carlton dog hiking trails because they can move at their own pace without being knocked over by rambunctious puppies or young dogs. Look for Carlton dog hiking trails with flat terrain, easy access, shade, and smaller sizes if your senior has mobility limitations. The privacy means your older dog can rest when needed and enjoy gentle exercise without stress.

What do Carlton dog owners say about dog hiking trails?

Reviews of Carlton dog hiking trails consistently highlight: excellent privacy for all dog types, secure fencing that prevented escapes, clean and well-maintained spaces, responsive hosts, and safe environments for anxious, fearful, reactive, senior, and small dogs. Local favorite Sauvie Island, Riverfront, Field, 40 Acres, swing on River is particularly praised in Carlton. Read reviews to see real experiences from Carlton dog owners with similar needs.

How clean and maintained are Carlton dog hiking trails?

Many Carlton hosts provide poop bags, trash cans, and regular cleaning. Reviews highlight maintenance quality—browse Carlton dog hiking trail listings to see real feedback about cleanliness and upkeep.
